- Abbotsford Family Pharmacy have a specialised cream to numb the ears for ear piercing. It’s so good that baby Isabella slept throughout the process, waking up at the sound of the device then going straight back to sleep. Isabella doesn't sit still when awake so to get the perfect level dots it was timed for her to be sleeping. She woke up then back to sleep and perfect ear piercing. Did she remember a thing ? NO .
Never do it while they’re sleeping, they can go in shock and their hearts already naturally beat fast so if it beats faster than that then they could actually die

I got my ears pierced at the same age while wide awake. My parents said that I flinched at the noise, but never cried. Going into kindergarten I was a bit confused as to why no one else was born with holes in their ears for earrings!

It's common in my culture (Morocco)to have our ears pierced. I was a baby like her and I don't even remember when I got my ears pierced. It's not a big deal...

A child should be old enough to decide if they want anything done to their body, even if th holes can close, they can sometimes leave a scar. They did for my husband.

I've always believed you should wait until a child is old enough to decide for themselves, whether or not they want their ears pierced. My mother waited until I saw my friend's pierced and told her how much I loved them, but I wasn't ready, I was scared! Finally decided to get done for my 8th birthday, it was before we headed back to school, the weekend before Labour Day. I'll never forget my friends noticing my ears/earrings! I was so proud and that memory of going with my sisters will stay in my heart forever... ❤ 💙 💜

I am the same way! I got my ears pierced when I was 8 and I was so read and loved them so much!! But every child is different my 13 year old sister still hasn't pierced her ears because she doesn't feel ready and doesn't really want them. Its normal. Babies are easily startled, there are some cases that babies wakes up, startled, in a middle of sleep and its normal. Its called Moro reflex aka startle reflex and its normal and actually healthy for babies to have it, coz it shows their little nervous system is properly developing.

Them doing it while she was sleeping was wrong but a tiny hole in the ear is not an issue. If they get older and they don't like it, they don't need to wear earrings and the hole will probably close on it's own. If you feel this was about earring holes then do you also think boys should be the ones to decide if they get circumcised or not? People seem to have an issue with piercing a baby's ears but not circumcising a baby. Both are cosmetic and not necessary. One of those the baby can grow up and decide they don't like it and change it, the other one they can't.

Why hurt your baby and put them at risk for getting an infection just because you think it looks cute? Both are wrong in my opinion.

I’ve let my daughter get her nose pierced and ears pierced in several areas. But only when she asked! It freaks me out that it’s deemed acceptable to cause pain and create holes in an infants ears. I know to some it doesn’t hurt that much. But some of my tattoos didn’t hurt but I wouldn’t go get my baby tattooed just because it looks cute.

I'm glad my parents actually gave me the choice of whether I wanted to get my ears pierced, I still have not gotten my ears pierced and probably never will.
Oof “piercing”-guns actually puncture the earlobe just like a hole-puncher would, it shoots tissue out the other end and it causes more trauma to the skin than it would when getting pierced with a needle.

Piecing gun got stuck on my ear and it hurt like a bitch. Piercing guns are notorious for being unhygienic and inaccurate. Not to mention done by people who usually have no clue what they're doing.
@@kollamiller576 Really? When I got mine done at Claire's they actually healed way faster then they should have. But then I had a allergic reaction to some earrings my mom bought me so now I wear little hoop earrings that are silver gold? I don't remember lol. But yeah just be careful with you buy because that allergic reaction literally had puss and blood pouring out of my ears. It wasn't fun and it hurt like hell. And people also shouldn't get tight ones that clasp because if you put it on too tight it hurts like hell lol.
I'm not from the US and almost everybody I know had their ear piercings with a gun. 80% of them did not have issues, and the other 20% had issues because of some metal sensitivity or they did not take care of their piercing properly afterwards. But then we don't pierce anything at Claire's. Mostly at a pharmacy or a proper clinic.

I don't believe in piercing a child's ears till they're old enough to want it.
There should be a petition for banning this tradition. No baby should have a piercing. They have to grow up at first so they can decide by themselves.

Just joking.. I really don't like babies but I can't stand when some unresponsive parents pierce their baby's body. That's against the morality. Inhumane. Really, why is there such a thing like piercings for babies? What kind of horrible parent would do that? Sometimes I don't know why am I living in the messed up world...

I understand people’s concerns but with my experience, my ears also got pierced when I was that small and I’m really glad that happened because I love earrings but I’m TERRIFIED of needles and stuff so I never could have gotten the courage to do it now. Plus, you don’t even Remember it and babies heal much faster so it would’ve stopped hurting pretty quick.
It shouldn't have been done because it still hurt the baby and the baby didn't say they wanted it plus it's with a piercing gun and professionals won't pierce babies so they should've waited, it could've been done in the future

Getting your ears pierced like this takes so much longer to heal than having it done professionally with real piercing hollow needles. And MUCH LESS painful.
There's ALSO a reason that PROFESSIONAL piercers won't pierce babies. Professional.... I don't use that word lightly. Usually professional piercers, have lots of body modifications done, themselves. And most of them don't believe in "modifying" babies.
I was COVERED in piercings at one point. Bridge, Septum, Nostril, labret, canine bites, double shark bites, nipples, belly button twice, clavicles, my tongue... I've been through so many piercings it's ridiculous. And I have two kids- a 2 and 4 year old. And I (the girl who had all these piercings) refuse to get my kids ears pierced like this. It's bad, so so bad.
And I'm not one to follow people and their ways of raising kids these days. I'm old school with my parenting. Except for getting their ears pierced as babies at a place like Walmart or Claire's.
I'll wait until a shop with professionals will do it.

I had a friend that was a baby girl and when she was five years old she said to me could we go to the shop and get them to take the things that in my ears because I didn’t give my parents permission to do it and I said yes I will take you and I asked her when she was 18, I said do you want to get it done again and she said no, because I remember what I went through as a baby getting them done. you see sometimes they want them taken out and when they are the age to ge them
