To me, this song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of a roaring, Midwest thunderstorm blowing in. To me, the lyrics paint such a beautiful image of which I can relate! I Can almost feel the warm summer air slowly being replaced by a chilly wind out of the West, followed by a darkening of the sky. Then the loss of power! I could go on and on!
We were sitting on the front porch With the weather rolling in Laughing louder than the big south wind You ran out to roll your window Light rain falling on your hair Your tan legs checkered from a folding chair There's country music in the kitchen I hear it singing through the screen Weather warnings in between Glad you got out of the city There's no telling what's in store Along the 35 Corridor Kerosene to feed the flame Your effect is quite the same Shadows dancing on the wall and Waiting for the sky to fall Couldn't ask for better weather You were [?] Until the sound of hailstone hitting tin It's loud enough you gotta yell now The whole thing hits me like a song A pretty one that won't last long Kerosene to feed the flame Your effect is quite the same Shadows dancing on the wall and Waiting for the sky to fall and Waiting for the sky to fall Yeah [?] in the morning light That simple shade of blue The kind that always follow you Kerosene to feed the flame Your effect is quite the same Shadows dancing on the wall and Waiting for the sky to fall and Waiting for the sky to fall
This is an amazing song. Hits close to home especially because I was born and raised in north Texas and have had a tornado hit my home town (Rowlett, 2015). Growing up with that weather is unsettling and the eerie melody and lyrics give me the chills. Paints the perfect picture for a tornado song. Fantastic song
I remember that happening, I’m from Greenville close to that area and I remember that day and the weather that came. Texas weather is never predictable
Nothings been right since you stopped.. Come back to us my brothers and let that county gold flow! Then we can all crank it to 11 and get back to work.
You are soooo right! Evan uses metaphors brilliantly throughout TT songs. You THINK Bird Hunters is about bird hunting - but it isn’t! You THINK Tornado Warning is about weather - but it isn’t. It’s about so much more. ❤
I listened to this in my rental truck while it was pouring the other day.... it fits everything so good even though I'm in Florida and we get hurricanes.
Eric Weldon maybe tv was on mono or setting was off. I made the comment after watching it on my TV not from this RUclips video. I watch Miranda Lambert on Austin City Limits on my sync TV and I could hear the steel just fine but with Turnpike it was like it was almost off. So maybe it was not the sound man but my TV

I’m rooting for Evan! Come back to us bro!
Yessir I hope the band gets back together nothing beats fucking turnpike troubadours 🤘🏻
Only a TT album can save 2020
He’s back!!!
@@ryanthomas6360 I'm flying to Colorado next week to go to their concert @ the Red Rock Amphitheater!!
Here we go!!! Can't wait. Gottem in KC in August. Looks like prayers worked!
We were sitting on the front porch
With the weather rolling in
Laughing louder than the big south wind
You ran out to roll your window
Light rain falling on your hair
Your tan legs checkered from a folding chair
There's country music in the kitchen
I hear it singing through the screen
Weather warnings in between
Glad you got out of the city
There's no telling what's in store
Along the 35 Corridor
Kerosene to feed the flame
Your effect is quite the same
Shadows dancing on the wall and
Waiting for the sky to fall
Couldn't ask for better weather
You were [?]
Until the sound of hailstone hitting tin
It's loud enough you gotta yell now
The whole thing hits me like a song
A pretty one that won't last long
Kerosene to feed the flame
Your effect is quite the same
Shadows dancing on the wall and
Waiting for the sky to fall and
Waiting for the sky to fall
Yeah [?] in the morning light
That simple shade of blue
The kind that always follow you
Kerosene to feed the flame
Your effect is quite the same
Shadows dancing on the wall and
Waiting for the sky to fall and
Waiting for the sky to fall
In my opinion turnpike is one of the best country bands if not the best to ever do it. They ain’t got a bad song. Can’t wait for them to come back
Dude check out whiskey myers and corb lund
@@arturoarenaleshernandez1046 already a massive fan of both
love the lyrics and music, Perfect for an incoming storm with a sense of humour.
Love this! “You never know what’s in store along the 35 corridor…” We had to pull into a Buc-ee’s on IH35 to wait out a tornado.

I love this song.
Fiddle player is straight boss
Guess who’s back guys
Damn! First time listening to this and feeling bad because I didn’t hear it before.
It doesn’t get any better than these guys
Looking sober and sounding in time with the band. Great performance of one of my favorites of theirs!
Yes, he looks sober and healthy....one thing about him he beat that damn Blake Shelton!
Did he have a substance abuse problem?
@@burtstamos8752 he still does. the band broke up about the time you commented this. look up their last performance
@@ragereynolds4374 -- and then they came back! Let's GOOOOO

Who else who's almost ........ Years old spent their younger years at their grandparents watching ACL!!! Appreciate it now!!
Rooting for everyone going through personal struggles who turn to this song like I do
One of the most intelligent songs written, hands down. You should here professional music industry people try and describe it. They have no clue.

Love this Band...The fiddle player ready get on with it...love him!
They sound amazing live! They are by far, one of my favorite bands.
Turnpike Troubadours music is amazing simply amazing the greatest band there is.
Amazing guys, amazing band, amazing songggg!! God bless oklahoma city!
My favorite T Troubadour song. If the lead singer doesn’t come back, I hope the awesome musicians find a new lead singer. Y’all are awesome!
Joseph Stiles it’ll never be the same if they do.
Evan felker is the turnpike troubadours
@@DeathBree The only man fit to take his place would have to be Zach Bryan...but even then, it definitely wouldn't be the same!
Badass. They are a terrific band.
fantastic band living life on the road

Evan will be back no matter what, even if it’s not with Turnpike, he’s just too good of a songwriter to not put out another banger out eventually
IT’S LOUD ENOUGH YOU GOTTA YELL NOW !!
And the ominous, "weather warnings in between". He paints a picture and sets the mood with his lyrics. Truly underrated.
Diggin the telecaster through the Carr Skylark and Sportsman.
It’s like sturgill Simpson and Lyle Lovett had a baby
I watch this at home and was so disappointed that the pedal steel guitar was completely out of the mix the steel player got the shit end of the deal
He's just there for show anyway;-)
Mark Rubin, I would've rather have sat it out. Put me out there or give me the night off
Tony Chavez I hear him in there just fine

Me, too. Loud in clear in the left channel on my headphones.
I love this song.
