Music is music! I grew up on country. I have learned that when it comes to music its all about what you relate to. Country is relatable. You can find country songs to love, no matter who you are, where you live, or how you were raised. Music builds bridges and brings us together.
Keith's hometown is half an hour from me. He is still missed and always will be. If he had lived, he would be at the top of the charts...his voice is butter.

I know country hasn't been your thing but country music has the best storytelling songs. Some of them will even tear your heart out. One of the greatest country singers of all time is George Jones and his song who's gonna fill their shoes, I think you will like.

Personally, my favorite country singer of all time he has helped me through heartbreak and sadness his version of I Never Go Around Mirrors originally done by Lefty Frizzell is probably my favorite song another good one by him is. between an Old Memory and Me.

Keith Whitley was an incredible songwriter. "Don't Close Your Eyes" is incredible and While his original version of "When You Say Nothing at All" is good, Alison Krauss took it to another level with her cover. If you like lyrics, country is hard to beat, well, good country at least...

Keith is one of the GOATs when it comes to classic country music. His voice is some raspy and melodic at the same time
Keith died of chronic alcoholism. His best friend stopped by and had coffee with him around 9:00 one morning and left him in fine shape. He was dead by noon of alcohol poisoning.
He was the kind to drink shampoo or perfume. Idk how you help folks like that, hopefully we see some new meds or treatments in the coming years. I can’t imagine that kind of addiction, that compulsion to make you drink something awful. Thankfully, people like that are not super common, there is effective treatment for a lot of people, it’s just folks like Keith who need something more. We were blessed and robbed at the same time. I love his voice, I wish I could have heard more of it.
