Quick question: when adding facial features (eyes, nose, etc.) to the face shape from your bundle, how are you able to adjust the size/positioning without disrupting the facial map lines? I didn’t see you add another layer on top. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong? I was trying to adjust the eyes, however the outline of the head moved too and now I have a monster person lol! Iris patterns are caused by pigmented rings and spots, crypts (the diamond shape "holes"), and furrows (concentric rings between the edge of the iris and the pupil which are caused by the pupil expanding and contracting in response to light) :) I love eye patterns

Hi, thank yo so much for taking the time to create this wonderful tutorial, however I'm having difficulty following, like how are all your layers pre labeled? I bought the pack, and I loaded a face, it had layers but they aren't the same as yours? they pre made ayers in mine were lips, eyebrows, noses, eyelashes, eyes, ears and faces, no base etc? Hi Genevieve. Already left a huge thank you on the comments of "How To Cartoon Yourself in Procreate • Step-by-step" vid. Want to ask you about the Matte Screen Protector (makes the screen feel like paper!). I have ai iPad air 4th gen and bought a screen protector with this characteristics. It's mate alright so it's prone to scratches from the apple pen (kinda feels like the tip of the pen is ripping off sand from sand paper), it takes a lot of the brilliance away (to the point that it gets difficult to watch a movie on the iPad) and the worst (in my opinion) is that I'm convinced that is wearing of the pencil tip, which is not cheap by the way. Could you kindly share with me your experience with your screen protector? And what do you make of the comments about my screen protector? Does your experience relate to any of my complaints? Hello! She has a bundle in one of her links that is named after the portrait. When you buy it and import it into Procreate, you'll see some really handy templates. You can work on them or make duplicates to work more if you want. I got an iPad recently and I really want to learn how to draw. Honestly her bundle is affordable and I think as of now it still yet on sale ;)

The “effects” layers?? I know this is an old video now but I downloaded the Portrait bundle and followed along to this and the hair video but there is no video explaining the “effects” layers. Have I missed it? It’s driving me crazy not knowing what to do with these layers! Anyone else?
For some reason when I try to select the base head shape and invert it on the layer mask, it doesn’t work. It turns the whole section black, is there a way to fix this? I’ve even tried redrawing the base shape and going on with it again, and it’s still not working🤦🏻♀️
Hi Sofie! For soft blending (like this) I tend to use the Soft Brush from the Airbrushing category. For more textured blending, I use the Stucco brush from the painting category. One thing to keep in mind when blending is that you will often lose some contrast since the colors are getting mushed together. It might be why you feel like you're losing the shine in your piece. Try with a suuuper bright color at first, it should blend nicely and create a shinier effect :)
Is there a way to save the base/ basic drawings like the basic drawing for the face , eyes , lips and face to make it faster to draw just to preload some of your basic drawings
I can't do the layer mask... every time I select the shape layer it becomes black and then when I try to fill the layer mask it just fills the entire layer in black not just the shape...
This did not work for me AT ALL. I don't know if I am missing a step... I have re watched the first 30 seconds of this video about 30 times and can't figure it out. I can figure out how to add the face layer with the imported template, but every time I try to add nose or eyes or anything else, I can't move just those around to adjust their size or shape. Instead it moves the whole face around..... help??
Hi Stefania! Just create separate layers to add the different facial features. You can then select an individual layer (as opposed to the group) to resize it with the arrow tool :)

The part at 21:44 where you create a mask layer isn’t working for me, when I click select on the base layer it colors it and it won’t transfer to my mask layer, I don’t know what the problem is
Hi Steve! I replied to your email but here's what it said just in case: My guess is that the template files are too large for the RAM capacity of your iPad. Long story short, Procreate puts a cap on how many layers you can have in a canvas vs the dimensions of the canvas. The good news: it's an easy fix! Here's a link to download smaller versions of the templates: (I won't post the link here for obvious reason 😅)

One of the main issue when drawing is having a disproportionate figure 😅, but your brushes are design to eliminate those potential errors.Almost feel like cheating 😅😊. I will definitely give your set a try
I really wish I could’ve done this, but I don’t have allowance and my parents won’t buy it for me. I wanted to do this really bad but I’m horrible at freehanding faces and hair.
I can’t for the life of me get the layer mask to work. I even bought the bundle and started over a second time and everytime I select the face shape it immediately turns it black 😂

I honestly didn’t like this video because it was mostly advertising your bundle. I came here to find something about portraits and drawing all the details with your finger, but you were just using stamps from a bundle I can not afford. I love your art, but maybe make some tutorials where you actually teach us how to draw the eyes, nose, lips etc? Thank you for sharing you method though!

In selection settings uncheck fill with color. That should allow you to fill the mask layer and get the shape properly.

You can duplicate the canvas! In the Procreate Gallery > Select (top right) > tap on the canvas you want to use as your base > duplicate (top right) 😊
When i color drop after outlining the face there are outlines of the strokes i made when i outlined the face lol

Hi Steve! I replied to your email but here's what it said just in case:
My guess is that the template files are too large for the RAM capacity of your iPad. Long story short, Procreate puts a cap on how many layers you can have in a canvas vs the dimensions of the canvas.
The good news: it's an easy fix!

One of the main issue when drawing is having a disproportionate figure 😅, but your brushes are design to eliminate those potential errors.Almost feel like cheating 😅😊. I will definitely give your set a try

Having such a hard time color dropping the face/base outline
Make sure your outline is fully closed (no gap) and that the brush you're using doesn't have too much texture/transparency :)

I can’t for the life of me get the layer mask to work. I even bought the bundle and started over a second time and everytime I select the face shape it immediately turns it black 😂
I stopped when I heard import brush. Procreate has so many brushes,do the tutorial with those.Going over to your competition

I honestly didn’t like this video because it was mostly advertising your bundle. I came here to find something about portraits and drawing all the details with your finger, but you were just using stamps from a bundle I can not afford. I love your art, but maybe make some tutorials where you actually teach us how to draw the eyes, nose, lips etc? Thank you for sharing you method though!

The hell is this? Why are you using preset templates to construct the face? Why not draw the face normally like all artist do, doing it manually. Soooo disappointed As soon as i saw that part. Draw better.
