In the case of this particular move, the pokemon alters the atmospheric characteristics at that specific point (possibly using a good portion of the atmospheric effects explanation in the video), similar to what a magnifying glass does to the sun, but instead of glass, the medium is the atmospheric air, which technically is a natural occurrence, but in this case being intensified/directed by a pokemon.

    Sunny Day IS a Fire move after all. Fire moves have always been either heat or flames, so not really that hard to see Sunny Day is just the pokemon creating a huge, intense pocket of heat.

  • @striderzer0
    @striderzer0 3 года назад

    yeah i think the overall heat was raised in combination of moving clouds is what sunny day is and rainy da is pretty much the opposite. raine + water and thunder, sun + fire and solarbeam

  • @Nitosa
    @Nitosa 3 года назад +1

    I always thought intensified sun like blowing the clouds away and then making a magnifying glass like terrain/field so could focus on the battle field.

    Can you do a video on Raindance I’m thinking it could work by increasing water vapor in the air and then forming clouds.

    speed boosting abilities are the main reason why weather teams are viable and you forgot all about them. good job.

      He also forgot to mentioned Sunny Day reduces the accuracy of the move Hurricane and all electric moves. This weather move is the best of them all.

    4:07 they might be giants reference!! i have that song stuck in my head now,,,,,
    though technically, the sun is a miasma of incandescent plasma. the sun’s not simply made out of gas (this is another reference, i’m not trying to be pedantic)

    Well, the move Synthesis is literally known as Photosynthesis in Japanese. Pretty sure it's because Photosynthesis is too long for the English move name.

  • @mkqhwgeeoi6617

    In my mental canon the move consisted on actually creating an orb of heat that could be interpreted as a mini sun

  • @Qaos
    @Qaos 3 года назад +1

    Sunny Day being heat-based makes sense considering that the effect is the same as the ability Drought.

    Possible. I prefer to think of it as an extremely bright light as an orb say, that mimics the sun for 5 turns, but since it's closer the relative strength is higher, meaning solar beam works immediately because the light is already next to it, lowering the charge time to 0 turns instead of 1 turn.

  • @Castersvarog
    @Castersvarog 3 года назад +1

    I’m surprised you didn’t bring up the Drought and by proxy the Desolate Land ability. More specifically, in Omega Ruby when Groudon awakens an entire second sun is created above sootopolis city. We see it best in cutscene after defeating or capturing it.
    Perhaps Sunny day and those two abilities are doing something similar, creating an artificial sun to heat up a small area around the battle field. This would coincide with the other weather moved and abilities which create rain storms, sand storms and hail storms.

      I was kind thinking about this as well, and when the games zooms out of the screen during the "sunlight" period, they actually made kind of a ball of light to represent the "fake sun"

    Solar Beam still doesn't say that it's instant in sunny/clear weather and Thunder still doesn't say the accuracy varies depending on the weather... Gen V onward, the same sort of problems apply to Growth, Hurricane and Solar Blade.

    Hey Lockstin, I would love if you maybe could make a list of ALL the Pokemon that an avarage adult could techniqually ride (on ground, in air, on water) :)
    We know that some Pokemon are rideable from the anime and games, but it would be lovely to have a complete list that is also "scientific" correct (for example, Ponyta is shown in the anime to be rideable, but due to "lets go pika/ eevee" and the pokedex entry its to small to be ridden)

  • @RealmsCrossMyths

    The two lines Lockstin says after timestamp 4:06 are lyrics to a song.
    It is a song I played on repeat. I think its by They Might Be Giants; but might also be by the group that made very similar songs… I forget their name, it's been a while… Imagine Dragons… Maybe? Perhaps Al Yankovich? I have terrible memory…
    In any case, look it up, it's a great song in my opinion.
