Thats actually spot on. COD is a juggernaut, the brand is as stablished on the gaming comunity as McDonalds on fast food. The only way for it to go down is activision making it somehow boring to play for like 3 years. Only then another game can take the crown. And yet COD can still make a comeback with ease.

The community killed it. The game is mid, and a lot of people didn't really enjoy it but can't really express their disinterest because the fans will just call you a hater or COD fanboy if you don't like the game. Anyone who doesn't enjoy the game just leaves without talking about it cus "It's just not for them", and that's a lot of people.
Yea definitely I do think that this game takes a lot from COD as I said it feels a lot like BO4 back in its day but the game definitely has its flaws what sucks because with it being a free game it really could of been amazing

Another big problem of this game is that its a Ubisoft game. when i hear Ubisoft these days i think its a bad game because for the last years all their games have been bad. I still tried XDefiant and i also think its good and fun. But none of my friends wanted to play it so i also got bored after a few days of playing alone.
Yes I know they need to step the shit up what sucks with ubi being such a big staple but all there focus really is on R6 and yea if your playing by yourself it gets boring fast
Same here. I find the game fun for the most part, yea the sweats can be annoying but I still enjoy the game compared to likes of Fortnite recently. I had a few friends who played. One is away, otherwise we’d probably still be playing it. One isn’t really on much due to being busy with work, and one is on all the time but doesn’t like the game. So it’s just been me on it recently which makes it get a little boring after a few games.
I only play this solo and it’s great fun to play after work to unwind

I don't believe timing killed this game, but the updates. It's clear that the remaining xDefiant community disagrees with me, but I think the devs constantly nerfing abilities, but refusing to hit the bunny hopping drove a lot of people away.
Sure, toxic abilities like Spiderbot or Intel Suit could have used a redesign, not a nerf, but when you remember the game was pitched as an ability-based arcade shooter, most of the abilities are underwhelming. Fire drones barely do any damage or area denial, so choose the panic button because at least it's effective. Echelon is dead, DedSec is weak as hell, and Phantoms are only picked for their passive now, which relates to gunplay.
Abilities were the replacement to killstreaks, and did we fall in love with the AC-130, Chopper Gunner, Dogs, or Blackbird because they sucked and were "perfectly balanced." Fuck no, we loved them because they were powerful and swung the tide of battle in our favor if we used them correctly. You get 1 to 2 ultimates per match if you are Uber slaying in an OBJ-BASED game, apparently, and most feel ehh as well. Echelon still has a cracked Ult, but everyone else could use a buff.
People didn't change the narrative that xD was boring until S1 and all the changes. I got to Lv 130 in Pre-Season, and I loved it despite its flaws. Now it's just Call Of Duty without killstreaks, and what bothers me so much is the CoD bros who asked for all these ability nerfs went back to CoD and talking BO6 like Blame Truth, Jev Nero, etc.
No SBMM is great, but ultimately, Mark Rubin listened to the 1% a little too much and pushed the rest of us away. I'm genuinely depressed about it, I loved Pre-Season so much, but I doubt this game will live to see Season 3.
Yea I 100% agree with what you have said since playing it from launch it just feels like a shell of its forma self what sucks but all we can hope for is some big changes and that they fix a lot of these problems to make it more based on abilities and less on just the gun play aspect

I think they chose the cheapest possible servers to meet the absolute minimum requirements for the game to "sorta" run. by the time they make enough money from the game (store) to justify it's existence, it will be too late to move the servers up a tier or 2. Rubin has way too much experience to think that this was gonna go any differently than it did. Pretending that Ubisoft is some new indie studio that doesn't have 20 years experience, even though COD didn't either but still released COD4, is flat out mental, HOW stupid does he think people are? Use another engine while you reinvent yours, FFS, he even said COD used the ID engine... you can't make this stuff up! I wanted this game to thrive and be amazing, all it is - is a sweatfest comedy act. Playing like yer family is tied up in a basement in Communist Russia, and they gonna die if you don't win...🤣
Like another commentor stated, the game is mid, buggy, bla bla bla, community and devs hate it when you say it. But I wanna focus on that.
The biggest thing killing the game that isn't the game itself being a total dysfunctional pos with the most mind-numbingly awkward balancing and terrible patches that fix nothing, is the fact that the community refuse to acknowledge the issues in any discussion. I've seen on reddit the moderates (devs) trying to (with the help of the community) "own" some people saying "you need to prevent evidence" like the entire subreddit doesnt already demonstrate their claims. Thats like saying i need to prove the color red is red, when other people already have. On top of that, discussions about balancing or bunny hopping always end up being a "skill issue" when you neglect to factor in that a majority of the playerbase does not give a shit. No, the answer isnt to make the game more casual or punish jumping at all, its rather to address WHY its frustrating and work around that. But the community doesnt want to do that. They want to blame the individual skill of the person instead of admitting or addressing that yes, at your skill level, its annoying as shit. The best you can do is recommend a bit of practice on aiming and I get that sounds like saying "skill issue" but saying skill issue does not help them improve. It presents a negative representation of the community. Another solution, is to admit that the netcode makes bunny hopping impossible to punish.
This is a major point of contention for me and why I hate this game and most of its community. The crybabies like blame truth or fooly as the spear head of critical idioicy, and the terribly dishonest devs and toxic bais of the community is what kills this game. And well. The netcode. Obv.
(btw, recoil and recoil recovery is STILL broken. This affects things like ALL horizontal recoil attachments. Negative and positive. I tested for over an hour)

Surprisingly the reddit community is actually pretty honest. And I could've been better at expressing that but thinking about xdefiant makes me heated.

I personally play it everyday. Been CoD since the very first title. The problem with players trying to transition from CoD is that many of them don't know how old CoDs used to play and can't adapt.
This game is more fun and yes it has some hiccups.
CoD is suppression with all it's matching crap.
Xdefient rewards objective players and has less challenges and rewards so you basically play the game as it should.
You can go 15-10, grab a ton of objectives points and win MVP over a 30-5 player who just kd holes a match. You get 1000 exp for winning. My experience in FPS games is long, and this game has the it factor and over time will build better versions, but it's a great start.
yes i remember playing back in the days and the old cods and this game does have a chance to bring that back but it will needs some work first
The real reasons XDefiant player count dropped:
- MW3 on gamepass
- New Apex season
- Delta Force Open Alpha
and Fortnite
I mean, the game was released with season 0 and i knew, it was a fresh game and of course there would be some bugs, but when season 1 was released, there were even more bugs, no balancing in terms of balancing op weapons, but improving some others, bad netcode and an engine not supposed to be used for shooters, and bunnyhopping that destroys your hitbox with the netcode. Over all, playing XDefiant is a bad experience, maybe they'll fix the game, maybe not. Who knows
Yea I played season 0 and didn’t play until recently it seams like the game has gotten worse but I hope they fix it as the game itself is still fun without the issues that it has

I agree, everyone I play with regularly on this we never have issues finding a game, we don't see cheaters.. even in ranked, since the servers are physical over cloud the closer you are to the server IRL the better you will be.. a 12-24 tickrate..

@@Anebuis When i was under level 25 playing the welcome list there were times i couldn't find a match but after passing level 25 never had a problem and matches are pretty quick that's probably most people's issue

You'll have that same problem with cod but even worse unfortunately. The cod HQ is garbage and forces you to download like 60+ extra gbs of useless crap. Atleast Ubisoft Connect doesn't crash constantly and isnt an eye sore to navigate

I don’t have any issues finding a match that just must be your server region but then again I live on the East Coast around the Carolinas in the United States so I have no issue finding a game at all

Some problems I have with it: net code has gotten even WORSE somehow (I can unload an entire mag into an enemy just for them to turn around and two-shot me), I keep dying from behind walls (and not the ones you can normally shoot through), snipers using a truckload of aim bot are literally EVERYWHERE, and, worse of all, those SPIDER BOTS
How I would fix it:
Improving the net code
giving a range penalty to snipers
kill cam to expose cheaters
getting rid of the spider bots
I don't think it's the net code. Ping also plays a huge factor in this. I've only ever had minor net code issues when the game was in beta and when it first launched. I barely have any problems now
@@shierfuzzball6956 Ironically, net code problems started happening to me AFTER season 1 launched for some reason. I have absolutely no idea why. I checked my ping and it seems fine.
Being able to walk through your enemies, but collide with your teammates. Re-used gun skins from the preseason battle pass in the season 1 battlepass, still no one life game mode, still no prestige mode. “But Mark communicates and listens to us” They accidentally allowed you to play on Rockefeller, you guys loved it then Mark says, “You guys are gonna have to wait another month for it” but let’s change the movement for a third time, this game is a joke 😂😂😂

This game is so hard for me. Maybe if it had a hardcore mode. I'm lucky to get 3 kills per game. All I get are hit markers through out the game , but seem to die instantly with just a couple bullets to me. It's just to herd for me to put 30 ends into a player that seems to move with super sonic speed

For it being a free game it was surprisingly good. A couple things I wish it had were more Maps and being able to run games back with the same lobby. I played “Escort” and seen they have a new Map which was exciting. It’s interesting to see what season 2 brings but wish it was sooner
Poor quality and stubbornness is what I think did it. They promised to fix things they never fixed. They only worked around them and told us they were fixed. But the problems still persisted in the gameplay.
I love the game personally its very fast paced and takes a good few hours to get into the flow but man once you start dropping 30-40 bombs its satisfying and the graphics are 10x better than any cod

Great video. I don’t wait long for Matches maybe 5 mins tops. But I’ve heard of people having long wait times. I have a ton of fun playing it. Haven’t played cod in at least 5-6 years and this brings me back to the good days of cod.

the game just lets above average players completely destroybad players, if you understand how lanes work, how spawns work and how to use abilities you can just utterly destroy lobbies even ignoring the bunny hopping/ crouch spam/ aim mechanics. making a more casual unfriendly version of cod is just a bad idea, especially if you remove sbmm, because someone who goes 3-15 in every game is not going to keep queueing and the playerbase will gradually get sweatier and sweatier. netcode only really matters in close gunfights which don't happen as often as people think.

I tried to like this, but I couldn't. I used to play 1-2 matches then I always got bored. And very little content, weapons, etc. and leveling them is very slow.

I think a big problem is the forced cross play plus awful hit detection. The amount of times I get hit markers that do no damage is insane. Just yesterday I got both hits on a double barrel and when the guy killed me he had full health. Pair the dog💩 hit detection with people who b hop and crouch spam and you get an absurd exploit that at LEAST half the lobby is doing and you get a nightmare of a game session where even when you win, it doesn't even feel good. I think the worse part is someone was streaming on the enemy team so I popped in and bro had hud elements that I didn't have access to and was prefiring spawns with a sniper. (Literally my first game off the welcome playlist)
Before watching the Video: it’s pretty simple - the Game is too simple - so there is no learning curve, and there is nothing to do.
After I fully Ranked up one Gun i felt Like I saw the entire Game..

That's the CoD effect. You have been given so many rewards and challenges with CoD that the gameplay means nothing. Indivual play was encouraged by CoD that nobody actually plays the game to play, they gotta sweat for the reward and leave their teams to fend for themselves. Then if you have 4 other players doing the same thing it makes for a non competitive match.
To be honest with you, xdefiant is a really relaxed game understand the sweat fest, but there’s nothing to really grind for you. Got your daily challenges and unlocking attachments for your guns that’s it, but I hope they do stuff in the future more gay modes, more weapons, more attachments actual cameos to grind, but that would turn it into call of duty, wouldn’t it?
Yea it has never felt like a super competitive game besides the sweaty people but this game did get marked as Ubisofts call of duty and I’m the same as you man I hope that they do add more to this
I’m enjoying X Defiant simply because of there is no SBMM in pub matches. I’ve been losing interest with COD for the last few iterations of the game and the insistence by Activision with SBMM and EOMM which ruins the game for me. The other issue is the huge cheating problem that Activision refuse to do anything about, and they should ban these Whitelisted streamers on Twitch that are encouraging millions of their subscribers that it’s ok to cheat in games. Activision have put money over the quality and integrity of the game. Now I will probably end up buying BO6 on PS5 as it’s my preferred console of choice even though I can get it free on Xbox, however unless the issues of SBMM and cheating are addressed then it will probably be my last COD game. Return COD to the way it was without SBMM and make it a better game by doing so

S1 kinda killed it for me I really loved the launch season. I don’t care about the abilities cause I play valorant and the abilities on valorant are a part of the game mechanics. I tried out s1 and seems like server stability was awful.

Honestly the dead-sec spider and the bunny hopping made me leave the game, that spider is OP, it stuns, does damage and blocks most of your vision
this game is also way sweaty....there are not enought new players to balance with the day one sweats🤬 who are basicaly the only ones left and the weapon grind is insanly long

100% and looking back on it I wish I spoke about a few more things I just targeted what I saw as the biggest dropping point for the game and really a bit of its state now
Is it dead? Maybe on pc on console only game mode I struggle to find matches in less then 3 min is escort tdm dom and hard point are very fast to find matches I think if you have problems with the game voice it but I am playing and grinding and enjoying it

They made a hero shooter instead of a traditional FPS.
COD players don't like overwatch disguised as call of duty. That's why Activision went back to boots on the ground, then eventually doing away with specialist classes, because it's not what COD players were used to. If you want to draw the Call of Duty players to your game then don't add superpowers, because that's not what they want at all.
i got lvl 80 ,in my opinion very big problem is console auto aim making them op with jumping around ,u can choose not to play with ps players but then u are stuck in queue

The title COD KILLER is what ironically killed xdefiant. Also they have no SBMM and i fucken hate that! unpopular opinion... SBMM makes you so much better at a game and I personally fucken love SBMM

People need to call a spade a spade this game is absolutely trash. aiming feels like you moving through sludge. The abilities are dogshit and not fun to use except the pistol. the maps are honestly the best part of this game and they are ok. People wanted to like this so much not because it was a good game but because they hate COD so so much they would rather play this garbage and sing its praises. Ubisoft is dog at multiplayer games the only good multiplayer is rainbow six.

2. Deliver a game that works for everyone instead of just controller players
3. If you make a game that looks bad make it run well
4. Keep the annoying stuff to the minumum
5. You can make your mazes on a sheet of paper but for the love of god don't make your UI into one of them
6. Make the game where hitreg is 80% of the game have working hitreg
This is the basic stuff that a game needs to be alive. XDefiant has none of that and that's why it's dead. An announcement for BO6 is just an announcement, there isn't anything for those hyped for it to play yet and there won't be for a couple more months so they would stick to it if what you're suggesting is true.
Yes this game does have all those problems but there was a massive surge of players who did leave after the trailer as well one thing I did forget to mention was the net code but everyone knows about that lol
