    Great video! I just could never justify recommending this to anybody getting into film photography as their first camera. There are so many cheap point and shoots on the market that will outperform this camera in every way possible, and for cheaper. Cheap 15 dollar Pentax Espio Zoom will give you fantastic images! Now who I would recommend this to is the seasoned veteran who understands the limitations of the camera and can work around them.

    awsome channel mate. I've been looking into a film camera. Your channel has been by far the most helpful with all the example shots, what film too use, etc. I always focus on the angles/composition,..but digitals don't create the effect I'm looking for. Thanks for all the info. Cheers

      Because if you are serious about film I’d suggest even a step further than this but in the same price range a used Canon rebel 2000. About $30 to $60 as well and you can use interchangeable lenses.

    You got nicer photos than I've seen on other reviews of this camera! 👍I think in 2022 using film has got far too expensive both for the film & processing. I think a better option might be to get an old & cheap point and shoot digital camera that takes AA batteries. Shooting film & then scanning the film turns it into a digital photo anyway. Using a better scanner & software can make a massive difference to how the photos look.

    Hi, I was thinking of buying a film camera for my sister’s birthday and I don’t know which one to get the ilford 35mm or the Kodak 35mm. It would be very helpful if you can reply. By the way great photos!!
    Have a nice day!

    • @PhotoMeLarry

      Hello!! I’m very happy to help here… if your choice is between those two, and it’s your sisters first film camera. I would honestly say either and it will be just fine. Personally I slightly favor the Ilford sprite 35. But if there isn’t a significant price difference between the two you can’t really go wrong! Maybe pick the one that comes in her favorite color scheme :)

    i was hoping for direct comment/feedback on the shots you took versus the experience. anyways, i was in the market for a film p&s and this intrigued me but i opted for a vintage p&s instead. tbh how that decision turns out!

    Wow so many conflicting reviews! Why do some photogs say their photos came out dark and they had to use a higher iso film? Yours look perfect! 😩 do you use flash outside?

    • @PhotoMeLarry
      @PhotoMeLarry  2 года назад

      Thank you! I will say this, I read the details on the camera website so I know it was meant for 400 film, but it could handle 200 if you are in bright daylight. So I did use 200 speed film but I was out in the 2pm sunlight on a sunny day. That helped a lot. If you want to shoot indoor or don’t have great light I would use 400 or even 800. But it is best used with 400. And did not use flash. The throw of the flash maybe like 10 feet reliably. So it would have been useless for most of what I shot.

    Mind me asking how long can this kind of camera last (approximately) if I use it frequently?

    • @PhotoMeLarry
      @PhotoMeLarry  2 года назад +2

      Not at all... I still have the exact same one I purchased and it works fine. I may have only put 4 or 5 rolls in it since I've made this video. But if my opinion matters, of all the cameras in this price point and category I have the most confidence in this one. I had two m35's. One was brand new already broken and had to fix it, the other broke a little the first time it was being used by my partner and had to fix that one as well.
      The sprite hasn't had any issues that I experienced yet. I don't carry it like its delicate or really put much effort into protecting it very much. I'm not negligent, but I am also not worried. I have the most confidence in it's durability compared to all the other plastic point-and-shoot reusables that I've used so far.

  • @sometimesgamer
    @sometimesgamer 3 года назад

    Would you recommend this for traveling? Great video btw

    • @PhotoMeLarry
      @PhotoMeLarry  3 года назад

      It depends on how much you will value the photos you get developed. If you are ok with just having a good enough camera, then yes this is a great one to take with you. Durable, plastic, nothing expensive about it if you get it wet, dirty, or if it drops, it will be fine and you wont really care. I'd rather be on the go with ah $35 dollar camera.
      The issue will be, it isn't going to always nail the photos, and the glass lens element is actually plastic. So you could get a different point and shoot and probably see higher quality in the sharpness of your images.

    It's better not to waste time and money on plasticky cameras. Instead experiment on vintage TLR's like Rolliflex that produce good quality medium format pictures. Vintage cameras are back in Trend now!

    I have this but was always afraid to use 200 iso film because of the aperture?

    • @PhotoMeLarry
      @PhotoMeLarry  3 года назад +1

      If you’re in bright daylight you can get away with it. It just doesn’t appear to be the most ideal film-speed for the camera. But you can still get clean shots in sunny daylight no problem.

      Yes, there’s a little thumbwheel at the top right of the camera. After each shot, you wind it to the right until you feel it stop. Then you’re ready to take the next picture :)
