And these lines will always be better than Martin Tyler's coz it feels like Tyler deliberately tries to filter out the very feeling of any spectacle therein, making that moment look dull. Drury on the other hand brings the ignition or what can be juvenation to an already thrilling moment to present before the fans thereby justifying the same. Let's also not forget that Drury does get assertive at the right time (like e.g. when its a simple tap-in to give the team a 2-0 lead in the 30th min etc.)

I’m an Italian Roma’s fan living in Canada who got the pleasure of listening you during that game. It was not just the Manolas gol, it was the entire match when you brought us to an unbelievable emotional peak. To me you are Cristiano Ronaldo of commentators. The same emotions was only given to me bt Fabio Caressa when Italy scored against Germany in 2006.

Caressa tries to make memorable commentaries, he tries so hard they always sound false. Peter Drury's emotion is incredibly true.
PS. If you want an italian commentator that gives you something that goes somewhat in the direction of Peter Drury's heights, the only one I can think of is Francesco Repice (on radio).

One of my favourite English commentators ever. Puts the soporific, monotone Martin Tyler to shame without even trying.
Some of his one-liners are too good not to have an element of clever prep to them. They are simply too good to be pure spontaneity and anticipation. That said, his cadence and locution are the stuff of poetic art.

Wonderful interview. My favorite commentator. He can go from zero to 100 in a tenth of a second which adds to the intensity of his commentary. Long may he continue commentating football. After listening to the last couple of minutes on what his plans were for the remainder of the season, if only he could have foreseen the impact of COVID-19.

He truly appreciates all the brilliant moments he's been fortunate to witness. He is blessed with such quick thinking and wit and has delivered some of the most legendary in game commentary ever, and he always gives the credit for those moments to the players. I cannot agree more to what Peter says abt every Premiere League game is an event. I am from India and a huge Man Utd fan. I have been to UK a few times between 2008 and 2013 and I consider myself extremely lucky to have been to Old Trafford to watch a few games. My last one was Aston Villa 3-0 where Van Persie scored the volley which Rooney assisted. It's highly likely this is going to be my last game as I might not go to UK again.
