I think Bill Burr said something like '' 50+ years of anti smoking ads go down the drain in a one movie scene '' on his podcast. Just looks like a badass smoking commercial.
A true masterpiece of a shot. The song. The look. It says so much without saying a word. It’s also the change in character for the rest of the film. They don’t make em like this anymore.
This scene should be shown to new actors as a bar to aspire to. The way De Niro conveys menace transformed into sick thrill and even amusement here as his character Jimmy "The Gent" Conway contemplates killing Morrie through a silent facial expression alone is flawless. You get the sense Jimmy is almost the Devil incarnate. There is a reason why many consider this man to be the greatest actor of all time.
Bob always said less is more. Don't pretend to show emotion. Real people hide emotions. This is what makes him, to me, the greatest actor alive (or dead)
It"s even more powerful if you mute the audio. The soundtrack is trying to tell you what to think and even without it you still know whats going on in his head. Genius.
what I love about this scene, besides everything, is the looks and eye contact shared between Jimmy & Tommy. No words said, the unspoken language of “yea, we’re gunna kill this guy” It illustrates and depicts their shared chaos and inherent maniacal nature. It sets them apart as beasts from Henry. Sure Henry was a crook and a deviant himself; but these two were a diff kind of maniacal unhinged
Both Jimmy and Tommy are pretty terrifying in Goodfellas. With that said, their movie versions were like PG-rated Disney characters if you compare it to how they actually were in real life.
I love this man so much, I love this song so much, and just putting them together like this, in such a beautiful way....man, true amazement. I could watch this over and over xD
So glad someone posted this. I was just scrubbing through Goodfellas looking for this shot, all I remembered was it's just music and a push in on Deniro and it's incredible I haven't seen it more often in clips of the movie. Unbelievable performance, so happy when I google deniro goodfellas this came up.
Gives me shivers this quality of acting. Forget all these modern day cliche superhero money films and cgi films ..this is real quality movie making and acting. ❤🙏👌
this has to be the most epic scene in a movie for me just based on nostalgia from my parents always watching it and Deniro being my favourite actor and Sunshine of Your Love being one of my favourite songs. (Laylas my number 1) it's nothing special per se but I get goosebumps every time
Quentin Tarantino once said about De Niro, " He does not think about what he has to do later in the scene... he is fully consumed into what he is doing right now "
what makes this scene a piece of art is how deniro is able to show us what jimmy's thinking every single moment from the beginning to the end of it. 0:13 he's deciding wheither to wack morrie or not. 0:18 he's leaning towards killing him. 0:20 this is what makes deniro a fucking legend. morrie's history. 0:25 he decided.
If Deniro looked at me like this in a bar i'd probably leave the country.
Pete Zereeah lol
😂😂😂
Brilliant
If De Niro saw you that way, you wouldn't even have seen it coming.
Pete Zereeah I’d probably punch him in the mouth . And Epstein didn’t kill himself.
This scene...Just undid 40 years worth of anti smoking ad's.
+Nathan McDonald Can't argue with that.
+Avidcomp ahah
hahahaha so true
I will use this comment in real life
Haven’t smoked in 4 weeks and I saw this scene and craved a smoke so bad.. so I just had one
Nothing is cooler than Robert De Niro smoking a cigarette with Sunshine of Your Love playing in the background. Nothing.
Youre so right.
+Tiggiram. tu foto es la mejor de la historia
jose antonio martin muñoz Muchas gracias!
I admire this guy . This scene is just so chilling ... chilling to the bones
and Joker smoking while dancing down the stairs is cool too
This man can act more without saying a word in 10 seconds than most other actors can do in a lifetimes work.
God for a reason, eh?
So true
Lifetime’s 😉
Holy words
Another example of De Niro acting Without speaking is in Heat when he decides if he should go and avenge his crew or make a clean getaway
whoever says smoking doesn't make you look cool has never seen Goodfellas
Being De Niro - that is what making you look cool
casino.
Sachin C watch Joker. That movie also makes smoking look badass too
Fight Club, Goodfellas, Casino, The Sopranos, McConaughey in True Detective
here's another "Peaky Blinders". in that show people smoke like everyone runs a cigarette factory
This clip makes me feel okay with getting older.
In that look reflects the death of morrie
Every time I hear that song, I automatically think of this scene.
Whats the songs name?!
+Raunak Das sunshine of your love by Cream
Ditto. Always loved that scene. You knew Morris was a goner.
Funny how De Niro is a quite meek guy, but once he's in character, even his glance can be terrifying!
That's an actor for you.
God for a reason, eh?
I think Bill Burr said something like '' 50+ years of anti smoking ads go down the drain in a one movie scene '' on his podcast. Just looks like a badass smoking commercial.
armin38822 shit makes me want to smoke lol
true
You gotta see the movie to understand how brilliant the acting in this scene is.
De niro is an artist, a master at his craft. He paints a picture so vivid with his gestures, that we (his audience) know exactly what he's thinking.
00:19 perfect, oh so perfect synchrony with the eye movements.
Oh my god I never saw that, does anybody know if that's intentional? If yes, great detail!
never noticed lol, if its intentional thats crazy actor stuff )
Yes Scorsese said it was intentional
Watch the edit I made it might be better
Greatest 22 seconds of screen acting ever. You can read his mind
Robert De Niro will always be my favorite actor.
and will always be the greatest.
A true masterpiece of a shot. The song. The look. It says so much without saying a word. It’s also the change in character for the rest of the film. They don’t make em like this anymore.
Cinematic nirvana.
The music, his face expressions, the way he smokes, everything is perfect.
Most powerful scene in a movie.... Ever!!!
And DeNiro rocked it.
Scorsese changed my taste in music forever
Same
This scene should be shown to new actors as a bar to aspire to. The single coolest shot in cinema history, but also conveys so much in just one single track
probably one of the best scenes of movies history s ever
Why is this scene so fucking awesome?! I keep coming back to watch this too feel badass
He made tobacco companies a lot of money with this scene
It is a brilliant scene. Without a word said, we just know what's going through Jimmy's head
30 seconds is what this scene takes to tell an elaborate story. It is all in his expressions! Fabulous.
Such a perfect shot.
You can see the combination of rage and the gears spinning in his head about how he’s gonna take everybody out
0:19 DeNiro's crazy, plotting look.
Goodfellas & Casino are two movies i can literally watch over and over and not get sick of them
La migliore scena di tutti i tempi...De Niro è il migliore
Speechless.
This scene is the fully Oscar winning scene
his look at joe pesci is fucking awesome
Noooo
Yessss
you might think you're cool, but you'll never be as cool as robert deniro smoking a cigar to the backdrop of cream's sunshine of your love
scrainbow1234 *cigarette bro
This scene made this song a legend for the later generations
The true definition of a badass
Bob always said less is more. Don't pretend to show emotion. Real people hide emotions. This is what makes him, to me, the greatest actor alive (or dead)
That look of "Should I invite him to the family picnic tomorrow?"......Gotta love him.
perfectly played
It"s even more powerful if you mute the audio. The soundtrack is trying to tell you what to think and even without it you still know whats going on in his head. Genius.
you can see him start to snap. Some of the best acting ever, and he doesn't have to say a word. True legend.
BEST ACTOR EVER!!! hands down.
That stare...only De Niro can make it. 😍😍😍
Shit, this made me want to start smoking again
not everybody can look cool like that....
First time watching goodfellas this right here is when you realize this movie is just a a couple mountain peaks above the rest. So damn cool
Does he even exhale? Truly one of the greatest of all time
The greatest
If they weren't still banned. Just playing this would be the best cigarette commercial ever.
Yes I’ll gladly watch this on repeat for an hour, thank you 😊
Definition of badass right here people
It's a masterclass in acting. How well his eyes are coordinated with his facial expressions
Damn. I'm still young but I would love to try this when I got old enough. De Niro makes smoking looks sexy.
Eric K not helping
Eric K im not even from america..can't u see my fuckin name dumbass
When you see Robert De Niro giving you those looks, you know you're screwed!
The way he moves with the music is awesome.
I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's De Niro's "best" scene, but it's definitely a great scene by him.
Brilliant actor. The eyes say it all.
No puedo dejar de ver esta escena Nadie lo hace como el !!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Nombre de la rola plz?

This is one of the only pieces in flicks when you can actually feel the intensity
If anybody was wondering this song is called Sunshine Of Your Love by Cream
So many little choices add up to make this beautiful!
Every smoker including me has tried to imitate this atleast a 100 times
I LOVE THIS MAN.
Jesus how badass can a scene be?
I love this man so much, I love this song so much, and just putting them together like this, in such a beautiful way....man, true amazement. I could watch this over and over xD
One of my fav movie.. I can say the whole screenplay without seeing the script..
Somebody is getting wacked soon.
best movie ever.
like a cat that just spotted his prey
More like a wolf
More like a Lion
This is so special nobody can smoke a sig like Robert
it is mostly the music (Cream, Sunshine of your love) that make this scene so good.
So glad someone posted this. Unbelievable performance, so happy when I google deniro goodfellas this came up.
Nobody else could pull this off.
Has to be a smoking commercial
This scene makes more sense than most of the movies today.
the music playing and deniro standing there just shows his aura when he was young
Amen. Best scene ever.
Gives me shivers this quality of acting. Forget all these modern day cliche superhero money films and cgi films ..this is real quality movie making and acting. ❤🙏👌
The look I give my family at thanksgiving 😂😂😂
Best movie ever. Best actor ever.
The only Actor who can make an awesome scene without saying a word !
That silent eyebrow raise 0:18
That’s the “finish him “ look
This is the look I give to my mother-in-law.
this has to be the most epic scene in a movie for me just based on nostalgia from my parents always watching it and Deniro being my favourite actor and Sunshine of Your Love being one of my favourite songs. (Laylas my number 1) it's nothing special per se but I get goosebumps every time
Quentin Tarantino once said about De Niro, " He does not think about what he has to do later in the scene... he is fully consumed into what he is doing right now "
The IRISHMAN!!! Can’t wait!!
Are you talking to me?
That's his best scene!
Just his eyes say so much
what a character! def OG. Hard to find acting like this anymore.
what makes this scene a piece of art is how deniro is able to show us what jimmy's thinking every single moment from the beginning to the end of it.

this is how i look when I'm in a room full of people and I'm about to fart
give her the robert de niro face from this scene, she will then accept it.
Happy birthday mr.deniro
that's when I saw this movie for the first time at the time, I started to smoke ! it's your fault Robert ! lol
it is really bad ass, but robert de niro is probably the best actor ever lived , he has made at least 10 scenes better or equal important than that.
By far the best actor ever. Al fangirls can bitch and moan.
Le charisme incarné
ICE COLD, BABY!
This guy is just amazing. :D
Class,class, class,deniro
I quit smoking about 3 years ago and this scene more than anything makes me want to start again.
I won't lie, this scene is a great contributing factor to why I smoke.
