I'm Surprised. This is actually a really interesting version to Super Metroid. I really like some of the layouts and the different idea paths.. For example: The pipe underwater that you go through to reach a lower area.. Just amazing :)
you sir, apparently don't understand what TAS videos are then. These videos take hours and hours to do, with thousands of replays. Its the end result that makes these vids interesting, it's not meant to show someone's skill, it's just to be entertaining, and to see how fast a game could be completed in theory.
actually the TAS doesn't aim only down. (shouldn't atleast.) what it does it that it does something called arm-pumping wich is you spam L and R that aims down and up. for each time samus aims down or up she moves forward one pixel extra. since this is a TAS this might be done so quick that it only looks like he's aiming down tho. Then again this could be a TAS run without armpumping.
i like samus's color changes on this hack. the varia suit looks like it's the color scheme of the suit on Metroid 2 (In the art, at least) and the white and blue color scheme seems to look good on anything..though i would have liked to see what the gravity suit color scheme was, if t was changed at all.
GoldenJoe Same here.... I think that this TAS videos are funny to watch but play this hack must be a pain in the ***, I mean, the original game is rewarding but this is frustrating.
Armand Avart In this mode it looks like the goal is to destroy the machinery keeping the mockingbird station running; the station appears to have been created as a secondary HQ or base for the space pirates and so, has high ranking pirates but not mother brain herself. Multiple doors are destroyed that are connected to machinery which probably serve the purpose as shields or some security system and at the very end the machine core is destroyed and so the base begins to go into meltdown. For a custom story hack its pretty damn good (IMO)
+Armand Avart Sorry but if someone can go through walls, what's to stop them from losing a life? I think Super Missles were sparse so they had to travel more. But I never felt any danger for the player
15 months late, no actual hacks were used in the playthrough, although I'd wager a gamble that the liberal use of savestates and using frame-by-frame inputs would be considered cheats to some.
@xMisterEpicx 60 FPS reduced to 24 give 12 Hz flickerings. You'd better check it via virtualdub & use when we have 30Hz flickers like here. instead of ynynynynyn on 60 you get yynnyynnyynn at 24. Got it?
In the looking down while airborne pose, Samus's hitbox doesn't actually extend as far as her palette does, so while it looks like she should have been hit going through the door, there is no actual collision taking place.
Actually, you don't NEED to perform these glitches. He does it because it's faster, as it skips large portions of the romhack, and that's all that matters in a any% TAS.
rojer Mcv1p It's a interesting thing. Those doors have the same data tags as doors that are grey, unopenable, and so when you open those doors it also changes the data tag of the grey door into opened.
HOLY SHIT. he skipped soo much.... he skipped: power bombs, gravity suit, all the other beams... 19:45 is the sickest sequence break of them all... this is a really bad exploration hack, but a really good puzzle hack. its just that he really broke the puzzle into pieces.
+xleo989x lack of resources. He could kill enemies to get more but he only refills when forced to wait or at areas it would be fast to. I was wondering the same earlier
xleo989x yes, he opens them so he doesn't have to spend time later with resources or just for fun. Like in the beginning you just have 5 Super Missles. Use em up, and you can get stuck until you get more. Second, Power Bombs take time to trigger as well.
Wow you just mocked the Mockingbird Station. Also it is a good hack, he just TAS'd the hell out of it with glitches to basically skip a lot of content.
I I can not play that game . I tried to install the IPS did not work. I looked for other versions and nothing . Can someone help me because I do not think anything on the internet that works. Please :( :( :(
Hey this looks very interesting. I would love to see a hacked version of this game not just with new areas, but new items, enemies and bosses too. Not just the same enemies and bosses with different behaviors, but new appearances too, not simple re-colorings.
yea funny thing earlier today i was serching for a rom hack, was looking to see if anyone tried to make a SOTN/Super Metroid crossover for SNES,, have not found anything with different art/sprites
I wonder what that blue lava like stuff is supposed to be... ... my guess is it's some sort of coolant. (I'm just pulling that out of my ass since I saw something like that in Half-Life: Blue Shift.)
I already noticed it's a bad hack when the guy got the morph ball. WHY IN THE NAME OF HELL WOULD YOU PUT MORPHBALL IN A MISSILE RECHARGE STATION?! Also probably because of the ultra slippery physics.
it's like in Mario maker when you see bare pipes just floating in midair. visually unappealing mapping, and also there's a lot of unnecessary unfairly hard tricks required
MastaGambit It looks boring, it has a bad title, the items are spread out, there is no prizes for exploring, I didn't see a single boss within 10 minutes, it spits on the face of the original.
So... throughout this I was screaming "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!?". I"m familiar with the shoulder pumping, the mock ball/speed mock ball, the super short charge, the shooting-metal-door-that-normally-requires-wave-beam-missile trick, the intentional taking of damage to dart either left or right, but some of these tricks I'm just totally lost on what you did. I'm an amateur speed runner at best, but this is a level I wont achieve. I don't know what's going on anymore. O_o
As long you don't make profit of it, or hurt Nintendo's sales with it no one will care. I don't know if it is illegal or not, but they won't sue you anyway because they will lose money on a case and win nothing since you don't hurt them economically. A good example is AM2R. A (great!) remake of Metroid 2 made by a fan available for free. Since there is not a nintendo version, nintendo will not sue the guy.
On a completely different subject, that sequence breaking was so absurd that I feel we missed 90% of the stuff we should've seen
I'm Surprised. This is actually a really interesting version to Super Metroid. I really like some of the layouts and the different idea paths.. For example: The pipe underwater that you go through to reach a lower area.. Just amazing :)
I did not believe someone could control the Samus from Super Metroid like this, simply amazing
this hack made no sense to me...................just saying.................
Did deez make sense to you?
got that "axiom verge " feeling and yeah maybe color palette
q tempo bom. A sensação de jogar esse jogo na época de lançamento, é indescritivel.
you sir, apparently don't understand what TAS videos are then. These videos take hours and hours to do, with thousands of replays. What is TAS anyway?
Tool
Assisted
Speedrun
Basically a speedrun made with the assistence of external tools and programs.
What the fluff is TAS
Wow.. your skills are unmatched. You sir are a Super Metroid God.
... you know thats tool assisted... or?
This mod has destroyed a national treasure....
i was like "intersting hack i might gonna play it" then i saw the phantom fight.
nah sorry i pass.
This isnt a speed run... Its just speed.
29:51 Epic Scene, Epic Theme 🎶 Epic Destruction and Run 😀
I believe Samus runs a pixel or so faster when her aim is fixed downward. Saves time over the course of a run.
A little off there, it's just going back and forth diagonal aiming REALLY *FUCKIN **_FAST_*
It's just so relentlessly grey.
Good run though.
You can fight spore spawn in this rom hack, but this speed run shows the sporespawn can be avoided altogether.
actually the TAS doesn't aim only down. This is the second rom hack I've watched this week that has Buzzy Beetles in it.
Thornbloom But that's in the original game. You encounter it in Maridia.
The Crocomire fight is very scary now that I look at it closely
What Happened to crocomire did he fight him already?
i like samus's color changes on this hack. the varia suit looks like it's the color scheme of the suit on Metroid 2 (In the art, at least) and the white and blue color scheme seems to look good on anything..though i would have liked to see what the gravity suit color scheme was, if t was changed at all.
i have no idea whats goin on but i love it
mmmmmm...... what is the problem of the map?
What. The. F***. The confusion I am experiencing is beyond comprehension.
Very amusing, btw.
I don't understand the goal.
GoldenJoe me,too. you are not alone! :(
GoldenJoe Same.
GoldenJoe Same here.... I think that this TAS videos are funny to watch but play this hack must be a pain in the ***, I mean, the original game is rewarding but this is frustrating.

Wow you flow like a pro. Makes me want to get better at controlling Samus.
Mangia1432 its a tool asisted
Nice run. Looking at this modded game brings me the idea that Nintendo should put Super Metroid DLC on the Wii.
I’d like to make my own Super Metroid hack now. Any tips? (P.S. I am garbage at level design.
todo esta en internet, se llama mocking bird station buscalo por hack rom
i live in dallas by mockingbird station is that where u got the name????
14:38 Excuse Me, How Does He Die In Water? It's Just Water, How Is His Skin Even Melting Away?
Its a common problem when uploading videos of 4th generation and under games. Its pretty much youtube not keeping up with the framerate.
Guys, it was tool assisted.
And...? What of it?
8 months late. Im talking to everybody that said cheats and hacks were used
At least you had the right intentions, merely being certain c:
15 months late, no actual hacks were used in the playthrough, although I'd wager a gamble that the liberal use of savestates and using frame-by-frame inputs would be considered cheats to some.

1440p WOOT

instead of ynynynynyn on 60 you get yynnyynnyynn at 24. Got it?
Not understanding
10:45 - 10:52 how you avoid taking damage?

whats with the constant aiming down?
metroidsax1 I think it make her hit box smaller
esta en internet para descargarlo?
where can i get this?
Which Super Metroid hack is it where you can use "spider-ball"?
question - doesnt yt limit uploads to 1GB file size?
Not for the casual gamer. i liked this one but seeing as you have to abuse glitches to complete it im going have to pass.
Actually, you don't NEED to perform these glitches. He does it because it's faster, as it skips large portions of the romhack, and that's all that matters in a any% TAS.
what are that door reactor thing and what they do?
rojer Mcv1p It's a interesting thing. Those doors have the same data tags as doors that are grey, unopenable, and so when you open those doors it also changes the data tag of the grey door into opened.
HOLY SHIT. he skipped soo much....

19:45 is the sickest sequence break of them all...
this is a really bad exploration hack, but a really good puzzle hack.
its just that he really broke the puzzle into pieces.
So, is this another stage to play if it is hacked into?
That's a different look, kinda like gyromite with samus and pals.
How do you get these hacks to work? The only one I've played is Justin Bailey, and that's because it's ready to go.
these custom graphics in romhacks sometimes come from GFX packs
I have found GFX packs from Metroid fusion being able to import to super metroid
YAY, disappearing Samus!
Why not just 24 FPS?
Not bad, but there's room to improve...
Shut up B.I.T.C.H
sorry i havent played this mod, anyone knows why he only opens centrain doors and then leave ?
I am assuming they are triggers for other doors/areas
thats what i also thought but i wanted to make sure hehehe
+xleo989x lack of resources. He could kill enemies to get more but he only refills when forced to wait or at areas it would be fast to. I was wondering the same earlier
Jed i meant like he opens but never gets in. just opens and run away
xleo989x yes, he opens them so he doesn't have to spend time later with resources or just for fun.

Wow you just mocked the Mockingbird Station.
Also it is a good hack, he just TAS'd the hell out of it with glitches to basically skip a lot of content.
that graphical glitch exists in the real game too
How can I hack the room? /:
what game is this? I mean what console is this game on a cartdrige for the snes?
It's a rom hack, not a real game. It was played on an emulator.
***** Thanks for the reply man, do you by any chance know if this can be purchased or downloaded somewhere along with its emulator?
leogartija
You can find the rom at Metroid Construction forums and you can look up the emulator on Google.
***** Thnx much!
5:20-6:10 Kaizo Metroid lol
saPower1000 lol
I I can not play that game . I tried to install the IPS did not work. I looked for other versions and nothing . Can someone help me because I do not think anything on the internet that works. Please :( :( :(

Douglas Muller entdedi... entao esse tal de (TAS) e uma ferramenta é isso e eu achando que era o nome do cara ..😅
This modded game can only be played by real experts. If someday I can play like that I will download it.
Damn, I got myself stuck @ 8:17. I didn't get the damn hi-jump boots lol.
1:39 Door Glitch
Do you wanna a medal for this?
Samus stole a dead guys boots....7:25
Hack bizarro!
5:20 Reminds me of that impossible metroid hack, Anyone?
Hey this looks very interesting. I would love to see a hacked version of this game not just with new areas, but new items, enemies and bosses too. Not just the same enemies and bosses with different behaviors, but new appearances too, not simple re-colorings.
yea funny thing earlier today i was serching for a rom hack, was looking to see if anyone tried to make a SOTN/Super Metroid crossover for SNES,, have not found anything with different art/sprites
check out metroid construction forums you will find em there
then play metroid phazon the bosses have new machine like sprites and different power ups
nvm I missed it
why this get so many dislikes?
Everything got a ton of dislikes in early RUclips.
Mockingbird Station is a stupid name for a Super Metroid hack.
+1Kenny30 your stupid too.
+Darkcelestrian His stupid?
societyofsin what m8
Darkcelestrian You said "your stupid". So then I asked "his stupid?"
societyofsin I don't get it.
The faq? Never played this metroid game... Probably lost a part
Mathieu Nadon-Marier its a rom hack, nothing to do with metroid saga
WHAT THE HECK IS THIS MAP?!?!?!
Probably done to easier shoot enemies on the ground without stopping.
You're invincible for some frames after taking a hit. Otherwise spikes make pretty short work of you in a bare Power Suit and one energy tank D:
I think its a great playing hack, with no back story, makes it alot less appealing.
I wonder what that blue lava like stuff is supposed to be...
... my guess is it's some sort of coolant. (I'm just pulling that out of my ass since I saw something like that in Half-Life: Blue Shift.)
its phazon
i saw a breakable block at 6:00
5:20-5:40 bananas!
I don't understand... why is everybody giving this hack so much shit? :\
I already noticed it's a bad hack when the guy got the morph ball.
WHY IN THE NAME OF HELL WOULD YOU PUT MORPHBALL IN A MISSILE RECHARGE STATION?!

yeah? why do everyone say it sucks.
Sube el juego a 4shared
Where ...how wtf nothing makes sence anymore
Croc burning with water

... ,,, thank you for that . . . . .
when u play sfc games with dlc
i want to play :)
this just looks like they recolored stuff, moved it around and decided to say fuck all when it came to item placement
samus should have gotten nakid for this gameplay!
u ever try play fair
What?
So... throughout this I was screaming "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!?".
