  • Fergus Garrett will talk about the comprehensive biodiversity audit undertaken at Great Dixter which showed how an intensive flower garden can be a haven for biodiversity including some of our rarest and most threatened species. The audit revealed that throughout the Great Dixter Estate, it was the ornamental garden which had the richest and most diverse community. Fergus will break down the reasons for this and touch on how the mosaic system at Great Dixter can be replicated and is relevant to gardens large and small and how every space matters.

Thank you for taking about this it's very important. We need to stop the decline of the insect population. The verge outside wasn't mowed for 3 months wild flowers and insect came back. My front garden was covered in ladybird juniors Amazing, then the council mowed it down 😢

This popped up after a documentary about Christopher Lloyd and followed on perfectly. I am sure Christopher Lloyd would love the evolution of the garden since 2006.
