- I built a working LEGO water park rapids ride using LEGO and LEGO Technic!
Sitting alongside rollercoasters and other amusement attractions, river rapid rides are a huge amount of fun!
The ride utilises 8 large power functions motors and achieves a measured water output of 1800 litres per hour via its 2 centrifugal pumps!
The ride features a course length of 2.6m from drop-in to lift hill with 2 ride vehicles.

With that pump, you definitely need a longer version of that ride! 🙂
Absolutely
semi agreed, its the right length to add in 1 more boat becouse another can drop when the first is half way through, just have to get the lift timing.
@@DaRip74definitely needs another boat.
And a seal so water doesn’t leak!
Not like the animal lol
Brilliant, looks like so much fun!
Second
dang youve summoned he
omg
Hey, thanks for the comment! Have watched some great content over on your channel as well!!
@@BuilditwithBricksyo ur channel is totally underrated
Lego Water Rides have always been such a cool concept to me and you just made a perfect one, awesome!
Ah thanks for the comment! It was quite a tricky build this one!!!
@@BuilditwithBricks make it bigger
I'm blown away by the flow rate of those pumps. 🤯
Absolutely! The flow rate of those pumps is truly impressive. It's fascinating to see how efficiently they can deliver water or other substances to combat the fire 😀

So many questions running through my mind as you were building it, first was "legos are not water tight how are you..." no problem doesn't matter. Then "maybe a round ride vehicle similar to other rapid rides where there is no front so you don't get stuck" again doesn't matter, no problem. So yeah, this was super awesome. My ONLY worry would be my expensive motors and battery packs getting wet as water wicks it's way up those shafts some how.
Iirc, motors are naturally water resistant, and only the battery box is an issue
@@dsihacker01 Naturally water resistant? Maybe if it's distilled, non conductive water...
not water resistant, the contacts corrode and while powered they short itself what would cause battery to lose to much energy quickly.@@dsihacker01
I love the Idea to build everything from Lego but in the case of Water pumps it might be just a good Idea to use an aquarium Waterpump. Lifetime price and especially safety might be better in that case.
@@dsihacker01Only if it's distilled water, normal tapwater will just corrode the entire motor. Even with distilled water, it will clean out grease/lubrication from the bearings which will seize up the motor.
What a very clever impeller! I agree with others. It does need to be longer and maybe a few more rocks and bumps in the rapids. Great idea and implementation.
I'm 31 years old, but this video amazes me like I were 10 😊
The fact that they always ended up facing backwards in the end, made me chuckle
i suspect it has to do with the center of gravity being slightly toward the back due to the riders
On behalf of 8 year old me, thank you very much. All of my experiments with lego boats in water failed miserably and I came to the conclusion that unless I wanted to seal them, I was out of luck.
This is such a clever way to overcome the problems of the material; any lost water returns to the reservoir and the flow rate of the pump overcomes the losses.
My pleasure!
I don't know why but I smiled the whole time. This was such a fun project to watch. Let's take a ride!
EDIT: I can imagine this being even cooler in the dark with lots of running led's, turns, switches and stuff... Endless fun
And forest!
This is very neat! I wonder if you could get even more efficiency out of it by adding some curves to the pumps, so that the walls of the impeller are closer to the blades, and guiding the output so that it doesn’t slam directly into a right angle.
This is really darn cool but words cannot describe the amount of anxiety I feel seeing electrical components this close to water only being seperated by poorly isolating Lego bricks.
It’s only batteries. Can’t even get a shock let alone hurt.
@@Kharnellius That's not what I'm worried about, Lego is damn expensive is what I'm worried about!
@@furgel7717 Its not your LEGO. Not sure why you would be worried at all. Plenty of other stuff in the world that you can worry about.
Right!
Just use flex glue
Can we all just appreciate the amount of effort put into making this? :)
Thanks! It's one of my favourite theme park ride types. I had always wanted to re-create it in LEGO and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Lego ride with water?
Never thought that could be possible!
Awesome piece of art! 😮😮😮
Thanks for the comment! Appreciate it!
@@BuilditwithBricks bad
Very cool indeed!
Really neat how you can control the speed of the boats just by making the track wider or narrower.
2 of the most satisfying things combined, lego and water flow
This is soooooo relaxing
Glad you enjoyed it!
When you've been playing in the bath so long the waters gone cold hours ago and you're developing hypothermia.
This is sick!!!
Very impressed with the amount of water that simple pump is moving!!!
Batman was having a good old time. Good for him!
The stop motion building is so cool!
Thanks!
@@BuilditwithBricks :D
Even just as is, this makes for a great convention build. At 2x or 4x the size (might need multiple trays to hold the water with the ride bridging over them) this would be an amazing convention build!
Now this is like every child’s lego dream
Nice work I wish more people could see this so I’ll share it
My first thought was that there's no way lego connections are watertight. And indeed I was right; around 1:14 you can see water leaking from between bricks.
But the more I watched, the more I realized you accounted for this from the start. All the water finds its way into the large "bowl" that everything is contained in, one way or another. Brilliant!
Thanks for the comment and support! Glad you enjoyed it!
Super cool! Wat great fun to watch. 😎
Batman was drifting like crazy
Love it! I used to love building Lego boats and floating them in the kitchen sink as a kid. Always trying to build the elusive "submarine" but the air always leaked out between the bricks. Legos are so much cooler now with all the easy to get electric motors and sensors and control stuff compared to the 80's when I was playing with them.
that second to last turn will give people whiplash :P
"Water Ride 1 is too intense for me."
this is the sort of thing i always wanted to build, using Knex and Lego, since i had no lego engines back in my childhood. But i never managed anything this statisfying
Hope you've built more like these, soothing to watch.
Looks amazing
This has given me massive nostalgia for the LEGOLAND PC game where you built the theme park, released in the mid-2000s. There was a log flume in that!
This game was AWESOME! Sadly it doesn't work on computers with XP and upwards from my experience 😢
A true water ride. Leaks and all. Bravo!
Very cool! The possibilities with Lego are endless.
clicked really thinking you glued all of them. awesome
I found that a 2 stud thick wall was much more waterproof than 1 but increasing beyond 2 gave diminished returns and needed a lot more bricks!!
your builds do more to inspire me to buy legos for myself and for kids in the future than the actual companies commercials. well done good sir/madam. your deserve good fortune
Thanks so much! It’s great to see I can inspire others to enjoy such a wonderful hobby!
Reminds of those indoor amusement rides
Omg that’s the best park attraction I’ve ever seen out of Lego 😍
Oh it’s awesome! Patent it If you can. It looks like the Bugatti logo in the gorgeous Aqua/Sierra blue.
Very cool! Lots of awesome engineering in this one……fun to watch the build process as much as the end result. Watched it several times and would watch it again. Definitely a pleasure to watch!
This is an awesome build. Interesting to observe that the chain lift mechanism possibly represents a main capacity constraint, with the number of dingy's being 3 on the chain, and the chain speed being slower than running the course. It's not a thing I thought of with those rides, but probably translates to a constraint on real-world rapids in large theme parks. Perhaps a few slower chain lift sections are used to space capacity along the rides too.
I like how one rider starts and finishes while the other is still getting pulled up.
Result is so satisfying.
I saw something I wanted to make when I was young. It was great!
This pump housing design would have been good to use on the hydro dam generator but reversing the flow. Even better if you could curve some of the inner walls
Brilliant. If boats were circular it would be a better story as direction is not an issue and boat turns look natural.
Holy thunder canyon Batman!? It’s Lego’s in water!!!
900 liters for that size pump is usually quite bad but the fact that it is a lego pump and it's pushing that number is damn good
Ive seen far too many lego builds on youtube, this was by a wide margin my favorite to watch.
Ngl, I could just have this on and stare at it all day
Wow, this was mesmerizing to watch. ❤
Love the lego water ride, it's genius that's what it is. I hope Batman and Robin didn't get too over excited from their jaunt round LoL
Now add a play wave and some rapids. Just some short bars along the bottom, or minor constrictions should do the trick
Really cool.
this brought me some joy. thank you for this video. :)
One of my favorite things to do with Lego is build functional models. They don't include mini figs, and are purely meant to work with the crank of a handle. I especially like what you've done here, where the Lego works with water. I love to see stuff like this!!
Would be fun to see some floor texturing added. Like those flat Lego plates. Just enough to make the water rise and fall in certain areas!
Hi, thanks for the comment! I completely agree with you - I considered this during the build but I will have needed a deeper channel with more water flow for you to be have been able to physically see the 'turbulent' areas you mention. Perhaps in a future video I could improve the pumps, create more flow and try this out!
@@BuilditwithBricks that would be so cool!
One must imagine the Lego water riders happy
very kool though id probably use like the yellow raft pieces that actually float for the ride boats
Not only did this video make me incredibly thirsty but it also made me Nostalgic for Great Wolf Lodge (a wolf themed Indoor Water Park from my childhood)
Ah, thanks for the comment, glad it brought back some (hopefully) good memories!
Learning bricks before redstone 💯💯💯
That looks so fun!!
One of the most creative Ideas, I have seen in a while
Underrated channel!
To think Batman looks like he's having so much fun in that
Thats a cool Project.
this is so amazing
This reminds me of the time when I tried to make a pool out of Lego as a child and how disappointed u was when I couldn't get it water tight
I didn't expect it to work so well on the first try! But it looks DANGEROUS 😱
Amazing! How interesting that the minifigures always end up going backwards, supposedly due to the way they are positioned.
Incredible😮
It would be amazing if a manufacturer could make like micron paper thin seals joints that fits between lego bricks to make them watertight ^^
This would make my life a lot easier!
Lego needs to make this a set!
Amazing!
There’s something about water and legos that’s so satisfying
This is why Lego was invented.
Looks like fun, and a great source of whiplash
Awww, three rafts for extra chaos though!
This channel bout to blow up, great editing for the building in this vid, super engaging :)
Ah thanks for the comment! I appreciate it!
Need to see a longer one. Watching this made me feel like a kid again, thank you.
This is delightful! Just wondering, any idea why the little boats always seem to end up going backwards? Is it to do with the slight weighting towards the back, from the seat piece and minifig pose?
Yes I think it was do with the weighting in the boats. The fluid dynamics on the final turn were influenced by the single 2x4 brick placed underwater that seemed to ensure the boats turned in and entered the lift hill correctly.
Nice idea👌👌👌. Batman have preety fun 😂😂😂
It is incredible to see the water flow on the Lego parts and than the boats going downstream. So much joy :)
I wish I had one of those 😂
got that lazy river that my moms always in
Amazing, that those non round boats never get stuck at the exit.
So cool, i see room for a third boat if the rampt timing is increaded. but ya sweet
That is awesome. It seems like the girl boat makes it through just a little faster then batman.
THAT LAST CORNER 🌊😱
I would like to know the G-force aswell! Substantial.
I really want more added to this, rocks and sub-surface features.
Man, lego and water has always seemed like a weirdly good combination
Great Job !!!
Works more reliable than most Lego rollercoasters!
Dudes gonna build a working Lego plane at this rate. Keep the good work up
That's great. This is one of the most original Lego builds I have ever seen. Really fun to watch.
Incredible build. So cute and fun
Glad you like it!
This is just peak lego content
