"singing" lol. He does sound brutal as fuck though. I've always personally kind of thought the "badness" of his vocals had a brutal quality to them even if the highs have been pretty rough for a while.
jack owens is such a good friend to barnes, bro has like 20 bands he plays in but keeps putting barnes on the scene. i think they have some pact where chris is suppose to die on stage like all the other greats!
First, thank you very much for the complete recording! A memorable show and set list! I'll be rooting for them in Brazil-SP one day! Awesome set list, for me the only thing missing was "Ghosts of the Undead", a great song, and a couple of tracks from the new album "Killing for Revenge", a great album (for me)! Long live! MD
That voice is always ready to rip when he wants to put the effort in, can't ever write him off. Was this set perfect? No, but he sounds better than he has since Undead. One of my fave DM vocalists of all time, his early corpse and SFU work had a massive influence on my vocal style. I understand how his voice gets shredded, his style is brutal on the vocal chords compared to others who have been doing DM just as long.
1:01:54 It clear that Six Feet Under got to build up a well-known name,a well-solid career and an utmost reputation in the world's death metal to take care of tightly. However this band over the last a couple of years, has dramatically shrunk. Why?It has drawn a line under! In my opinion,it seems to be due to a new direction whose death metal as well as other subgenre in extreme music have moved on and Six Feet Under has not been able to follow up that by deciding to remain frozen in time or overwhelmingly closed on fresh tendency. It is sadly to say,but I am going to say:Six Feet Under recently low on popularity and productivity it is likely being to lack of prior preparation to make a well-succeded transition away to assimilate new horizons of possibility in music trading or it might have been due to downplaying challenge in music industry on avoiding dealing with them.
SFU has always been a more rhythmic straight forward style of DM, call it Death N Roll or whatever, I don't see Chris changing things now. I would like to see more of the technicality they had on Undead though, was a perfect mix, they fucking nailed that.
It has been changing for obligation, when we look at the new album we see it clearly because it sounds completely different stack up against to previous ones. And it's a matter of death or life:so,if Six Feet Under hasn't been bracing for transition now, like other bands have commonly switched in moving forward to transition away;by tomorrow it should be dealt with somehow.
Chris Barns sounding wicked again.
Chris sounds great!
It makes me so happy to hear Chris singing like this!
