I love Rosa Parks. I first learned about her when I moved to Birmingham in 1976.

Actually she's not the mother of the Freedom Movement. there was a young lady before her that wouldn't get up out of her set. But they didn't use her as the poster girl for the Freedom Movement because she was 16 and Pregnant. look her up.look up the girl before Rosa Parks, a lot of people don't know about her. Rosa Parks, came second. they use her cuz she was older. But she still did a good deed as well. But she Wasn't the first black person that didnt get up tho.

Good afternoon The real deal. You said; "she's not the mother of the Freedom Movement"
Correct that was Claudette Colvin. However, Claudette Colvin was one of the litigants in the famous Gayle vs. Browder, not Rosa Parks.
From a Federal Judicial standpoint, it was 16 year old Claudette Colvin who is recognized as the one who challenged the law that led to the end of segregation.
Her case went all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States.

If I remember correctly Rosa Parks did not ride the bus it was another lady but they wanted Rosa because she looked so nice.
