    His last speech always makes me cry😢. " I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live - a long life; longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land." Reminds me of Moses leading his people and knowing that his job is done. ". So I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. 🎼Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord" American Icon /Legend.

      Its a shame the these days you still hear ONLY good things about King (not a Dr, he cheated - his dissertation from Jack Booser who wrote it 3 years earlier and his title should be removed). He, and his group, was trained by liberals/communists in Highlander Folk School to go to specific segregated places, dress nicely, usually have a book-appear intelectual and make themselves a victim. Conveniently someone was there ready with camera capturing them being confronted. Stanley Levison was lawyer, wrote his speeches, even the one with "I have a dream..." in 2027 all (right now only partial was made available) info that FBI has on him will be made public. King was married and there were around 50 relationships, recorded, he had with other females, there is even one event, again recorded by FBI, when Logan Kearsey raped another female member, King was present and verbally supported it. On the day he was killed he was accommodated in hotel with Dorothy Cotton (not his wife!) he spent evening with another women instead, when around 2am he returned to hotel he didnt go to Dorothy but to Davis Powers who was one level below them, Dorothy even wrote book later... Dig deeper, always, I am from post communistic CZ and I know what propaganda is, they use people as heroes and do everything to manipulate and twist the truth. For me he was the man of the 20th century… his name and deeds seem to outlast those of great presidents. The part , though not captured, that have me in awe was his opposition to the Vietnam war on moral grounds. He stood even when standing a lone… called unpatriotic and unamerican and abandoned by even some of his closest friends. Indeed a stalwart man of God and the conscience of a nation

      I too was disappointed about the Vietnam issue unexplored. It was on April 4, 1967 at the Riverside church in New York City where Rev Dr King first publically spoke against the war. One year later to the day, he was assasinated in Memphis, TN. April 4, 1968. The speech RFK delivered in Indianapolis, IN was correctly sited however the picture of him speaking to the crowd with a bullhorn is not of him delivering the speech cited. Just an observation, very well done presentation.

      Who cares about his private life behind closed doors!! We praise what he did in his public life, bringing people of all races, colors,sexual orientation, religions, creed & backgrounds together as one. Can you imagine life in 2023 with Jim Crow laws in the southern states still? Someone had to change the status quo in the U.S & he was the person who stepped up to the plate along with alot of others to change life for many generations later. I was born in 1971in N.Y.C. I can't see life the way it was a decade before my birth. Segregated schools, riding in the back of the bus, separated bathrooms & water fountains, Segregated eating establishments such as Woolworth, Not being able to vote for elected officials, & the list goes on. Who cares about his flings with different women! That sh*t happens every day by both sexes. The United States admits they used tactics against King, Malcolm X, Black Panthers called Cointellpro cause they were afraid of change. The way I see it, it's no different than Germany & the Nazi movement killing people of Jewish descent. One race group on a power trip against another for what. The United States joined World War 2 partially to stop Nazism while doing the same type of sh*t in their own country against African Americans citizens. Segregation in their own military to fight for their own country where they were treated as second class citizens all because their pigment is darker than theirs. This sh*t had to stop somehow & King was that man. That's why he's celebrated like he is. Every city has a school, Street or park named for him, even his birthday is a National holiday in every state now. I remember before it was a holiday, African Americans in New York City in that late 70's & early 80's would call it "Black solidarity Day" & kids would cut school. Some parents would let their kids stay home on MLK birthday. Acknowledge the Man & the sacrifices he & his comrades did so everyone was equal & not separate but equal (Which was B.S in southern states). Honor the Man, don't tear him down...

And I've looked over, and I've seen the promised land! I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land!" Through his embodiment and his incarnation of these words, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. exemplified the ideal of unselfishness---the ideal of living one's life for the sake of others before one's own sake. What would happen if we had, available today, one hundred more just like him?

    Yes. You declare that Dr. King was the conscience of a generation. More than that, he was the Conscience of a Century -- or more. Dr. King's sermons and philosophy ought to be taught as part and parcel of Patriotic education, and Character education, in America's schools. MORAL EDUCATION is important now more than ever. America has not had a greater moral voice than Martin Luther King, Jr. He was a giant, calling us back to God, but not in mere words, or superficial piety -- but in actions and truth and genuine brotherhood and healing.

    Thank you for this channel! Unbelievable how people have to be convinced how fragile our Democracy is today when Dr. Rev. King and many others shed their blood and were martyred for the very rights we’re having to fight again for today. Sounds harsh, but compared to them? I think we’re a jaded, lazy, ungrateful society today. It’s sad. Most people complain today, rather than fight.

    One of the greates leaders of all time. I enjoyed exploring his life story and how he dedicated his whole life to the sake of people, simple people who are just different in color. I personally admire him because of his faith. I am fascinated how he could both be a great Christian pastor and man of God and also guide thousands of people. His leadership style is what stood out to me. The vision and slogan that he created were so strong that they are still prevalent today. He used every opportunity to make his voice louder, even in prison. His famous speech "I Have a Dream" is an excellent representation of his strong public speaking abilities and persuasiveness. What drove that many people to protest was his own passion for the matter, and the primary condition was that protests shouldn't carry any aggression. I believe this gave benignity to the whole situation.

    Correction: Segregation existed everywhere throughout the US. Older Black Americans will recall how open discrimination existed in Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, Tucson, El Paso and even in Las Vegas. Though de jure or legal segregation ended as a practice by 70s, de facto or social segregation still exists today most perniciously in housing, education and employment. Anyone who claims otherwise needs only to look at where they live, work, worship, and where they educate their children to see modern day segregation.

King got super rich by what he was doing...

    Great documentary, but why are they still not talking about Claudette Colvin? She was the one that was arrested for not giving up her seat, not Rosa Parks. The NAACP decided Rosa was a better media choice because of her lighter complexion, so they staged the same scenario again and made sure that the media was there to document it.

    • @LiftingLena
      @LiftingLena 3 года назад +10

      It wasn’t quite staged, but she knew of Claudette Colvin. She did the same thing, and the NAACP decided to go with Park’s case to combat the bus segregation because she had an image more suitable for the people of the time than Colvin. Colvin was 15 years old and pregnant. They didn’t want to use the image of a teenager, let alone a pregnant one. It was different times. A time where there was a very big stigma behind teen pregnancy.

      Actionbastard like you do realize that criminals are criminals, right? They don’t represent non-criminals. Every race has its racists. Just like you have black supremacists who support violence, you have white supremacists who do the same.
      Rather than generalizing entire races as violent or racist, you should focus on reason and consider the actions of individuals.
      I’m sure you wouldn’t appreciate being generalized as violent and a rapist because of criminals and hateful people, if you’re a man. So why generalize with others ?
      His ideology is that you should judge people by who they are, not what they are. Here, you are doing the same thing he’s arguing against.

    Martin Luther King is without a doubt one of the greatest people who ever lived. I think his message is one we can all learn from. As for modern protests...hmm that’s a hard one to call, I think the cause is something King would support but methods of protest that’s a different question. Also the covid 19 thing is hard to know if that would play a part in King’s judgement.
