Check out my reaction to Bojack Horseman: • DOCTOR REACTS TO BOJAC...
It's a Sin reviews: • DOCTOR REACTS TO IT'S ...
This Doctor REACTS video is watching Archer! I have certain comfort shows that I can watch over and over again and never get bored of. Archer is one of them. Plus, the Archer/Mallory dynamic is a psychoanalysts dream (Freud must have had them in mind when he came up with the Oedipus complex). This episode is on part one of Big Voyage where the team get miniaturised to treat a blood clot in someones brain. There is stuff on mental health, physiology and medical history.
Let me know what you think!

Love that Kriegers medical knowledge seems to be stuck way in the past yet he's created a cyborg psychopath and multiple radioactive pig human abominations. (That'll do pigly, That'll do)
Sounds more like a classic case of the Kreiger's Vapors, of which merely passing a cedar branch (preferably on fire) around the humours will obviously pull out the culprits. Follow this with one dram of Early Cuyler's Pine Cone Liquor (brake fluid formula), thrice a fortnight while inducing ergotism with coal oil.
To be fair, Doctor Krieger isn't actually a medical doctor. (or the other kind of doctor, technically.)
Don't know why, but Mallory fat-shaming her infant granddaughter is hilarious.
Season 2, episode 7 "Movie Star" is a really fun episode. It's got a bit of self help, some dubious health advice, and dangerous neurotoxins! It also gets into personal and professional jealousy, which could be fun to talk about! ^^
I got sectioned when i tried to self-discharge. I was told they HAD to do that if i tried to self-discharge. That's certainly interesting to learn.
I’m pretty sure that the “carrot in a stick” phrase came from horses. Horses like carrots and will follow one.
Correct. And chocolate is highly toxic to horses, thus using it as an incentive would kill the animal.
I thought it was donkeys so there you go
It's "carrot OR stick" it is from horses, it's basically saying you get the carrot or the stick, reward or punishment, which is basically like, well, you can either do it or not, but you know what will happen in either situation. It's old school "training" methods.
Carrot... IN a stick? 😂
I've heard carrot on a stick and carrot or stick. I've seen classic cartoons depict the former, so maybe that's just a spin-off from carrot or stick? Either way, it makes me think of Spaced when Simon Pegg's character tells his cheating ex-girlfriend that "you can't dangle the bogus carrot of reconciliation whilst riding some other donkey." 😅
Realized we hadn't seen you in a while and came to watch your Dr. Krieger react. Also guess I just wanna say thanks for your Bojack Horseman generational trauma videos. They really helped me process some things and today my mom agreed to go to therapy for the first time. Thanks to you, my NP and my therapist I think I have a shot at healing our relationship and maybe helping both of us deal with some stuff.
You're the best. Hope your renovations go well!
Love it. I never thought that Archer would be a venue to talk about mental health…. What am I talking about… it’s quite rife!
Carrot and stick is, I believe, originally about how to motivate a donkey.
Archer is a case study he is both smart and an idiot at the same time.
I can’t be the only one who when you were saying a little bit or physiology, a little bit of mental health and the other things you were gonna start singing Mambo No.5.
Somebody borrowed the plot of the 1960s SciFi Thriller “Fantastic Voyage.” Setting aside the stilted script and Neolithic production values, it was a great concept movie.
I love Archer. It's irreverence, filthy humour and 200% willingness to fiercely embrace and take the piss out of any subject that might feel even vaguely inappropriate is a fabulous way to decompress after a long day. Bearing all of that in mind, please know I applaud anyone who attempts to use this show as a platform to open discussion around health and gender issues. Is it like trying to steer a sagging lilo across a stormy North Sea while using a table tennis bat as a rudder? Yes. But GodDAMMIT, it's great RUclips.😎😆👏
Hoping your home is as beautifully and happily refurbed as your heart wishes. And pronto too!
Love seeing your reactions to Dr. Krieger. Can't wait to see your reactions to part 2.
Another show I wanna reccomend is Venture Bros. s4 ep 14 Assissted Su1c1de (had to censor it bc youtube, but it's the regular spelling). While it is a spoiler to the whole series if to newcomers, I still find it fun as one of the characters delve into the mind of the other characters and dealing with Freudian stuff like the id, ego, and superego.
I love how Archer is so far outside of ethical that I can pretend it is all fantasy. Then Dr. Elliott ruins this with fact, but is such a positive and compassionate person I do not mind.
Dr E, I had a crazy thought...have you watched or heard of Robert Welsh (maybe its Welch). He's a pro make up artist in London. I'm not sure if you are close to London but it would be the crossover the world needs! He could do you make up, and you can talk mental health.
PS I am starting nursing school in January and your quizzes are so helpful! Keep them coming!
Concerning SIDS, there was some new research last summer that indicated significantly decreased levels of the blood enzyme butryrylcholinesterase (BChE) activity in infants that died from SIDS. If that's part of the cause, it could be huge.
2:46: Has anybody ever tried to saw of a foot of a coma patient to see if they would wake up or react in any way to that?
Be careful doc you are about to enter the danger zone.. lol
Man I loved Archer. Great video.
Cheryl/Carol's more of a glue-eater. Also pyromaniac.
You would have an absolute field day with Cheryl/Carrol. She's... interesting.
Side note: those CIA operations you mentioned were in direct response to reports that the KGB were doing exactly that. Granted they didn't get the memo that the KGB experiments were dismal failures but still
Love your work!
Ha, this was great! Please do more!
The baby’s name is Abbejean or AJ
That’ll probably be important to know
Love me some archer!
The episode has a similar premise to Fantastic Voyage.
Anyone else always say “love you bye” back? My family thinks I have a problem XD
We love you to dr elliot
Would love to know your opinion on movie Soldier 1998 with Kurt Russell. About a man, who knew only war for the whole of his life and was put into more normal society against his will.
The ending is giving … A little bit of Monica in my life
A little bit of Erica by my side
A little bit of Rita's all I need
A little bit of Tina's what I see
watch season 4 ep 6 "Once Bitten". Pretty good goes into the mind
If you liked this one, you should watch the season 7 episode that actually has to do with MK-Ultra, s7e08 "Liquid Lunch"
Oh god, I can't take Archer seriously as I keep hearing Bob lol
If you're ever looking for new things to react to would you consider a Metalocalypse? Specifically episodes Motherklok, Fatherklok, Rehabklok, Dethdad, Performanceklok, and Cleanzo. Really the whole series is fraught with psychological implications (while also being SO funny)
"Carrot on a stick" means some unreachable incentive to keep someone going. The imagery is of someone driving or riding a donkey by holding/strapping a pole to it with a carrot hanging from the end of it by a string in front of its face. The donkey walks forward to get the food, but of course, the carrot moves with it, so it never reaches carrot and so continues to walk forward while trying.
Carrot and stick was for horses
Boop
Love the video, but please clean your headphones. Just a sponge and a quick wipe down. Please. I'm begging you.
