For those of you interesting in creating a grand society, follow through a brief analysis: 1. Critical thinking and academic literacy is the key to a good education. 2. A good educational system is the foundation of science. ("Science" as in sciences, technical skills and arts.) 3. Science is the key to innovation and technology. 4. Innovation and technology is the key to commerce and a strong economy. 5. A strong economy will fund a strong military; and only strong navy can continually maintain commerce and trade. 6. A strong economy and military combined, is necessary for a strong nation state. 7. A strong nation state can become a powerful empire and superpower. One responsibility of government, therefore, is to invest in, and provide for the general welfare of a healthy and INFORMED citizenry. Such investment in education will keep a nation as an economic superpower. Higher funding for better education will pay for itself, yielding long term results.
