    I followed your front and rear door speaker install videos step by step. Great idea to use the existing speakers as brackets. You tossed out the factory tweeter in this video but they work perfectly if you take the time to disassemble them. I was able to fit JBL club tweeters in perfectly. No glue was necessary to hold them in place and they screwed right back in.

    I just did this upgrade on my 2018 F150. I also did the kicker 3.5 center speaker. Set the tweeters to -2. I couldn't be happier with the results, it made an amazing difference! I used hot glue as well as black silicone for a little extra security. Total time for all 3 speakers was less than 1 hour. Thanks for the video.

    With a little finesse, that factory tweeter will pry out of the housing using a small flathead jeweler screwdriver. I just my 2015 and installed JBL GTO19T and they fit nice and snug into the factory bracket.

    Thanks for all three of your Ford F-150 speaker install videos as they made my installs go super quick. I purchased these same tweeters in this video and the front doors and rear door speakers I picked up some Polk’s from Crutchfield the front and rear doors they provided adapters free both the speakers and wiring harness for free, but your video is very much appreciated as the install went so much faster than guessing where to go to know what panels to pop and unscrew etc. Anyway you saved me much time and hassle with all three videos.

    Those factory tweeter brackets can be dismantled quite easily w/ a little prying, as they are only held together w some sort of glue/adhesive, but I'm installing the same RF model tweeters used in the video and they 'DO NOT' fit into the factory Ford tweeter bracket so don't waste your time(just a fyi).

    Thanks for the video! It was a huge help! I bought these exact same ones. I used one of the other brackets and glue gunned it too. Ran the crossover boxes with the supplied extension cables and mounted/strapped them down below instead of shoving them near the A pillar. I did have a hard time finding which one was positive /negative on passenger side but used Ur technique as to which wire was attacked to the resisted side. I'll be using Ur other videos to install some. 6x9s n 6x5s in doors 👍

    • @mando82jr
      @mando82jr 7 лет назад +1

      The colors of my wires were all smudged due to the adhesive in the shielding and couldn't find any decent color wiring diagrams. So as long as u know which one is positive and negative before cutting them u should be fine. I cut mine first then had to dig through trash to get them back to figure it out

    Pioneer's D-series components use in-line crossovers instead of those bulky crossover units. They're $160 for the 6x9 w/ 1" tweeters and will really fill out a system even without a sub. Anyone looking for a simpler install that doesn't require stuffing a box in the door should consider those speakers. I'm buying them with my next paycheck. I have Pioneer's D-series 12" DVC sub and it is fantastic. Also, try to invest in an EQ for your system because the 3-band EQ will not get you far and the signal processing may be skewed for the stock speakers and restrict the sound of your new speakers.

    • @thisistheslam
      @thisistheslam 4 года назад

      It's worth noting that Pioneer's A series components also have an inline crossover.

      I have an XL and I did exactly the same thing, replaced all 6 (I don't have the center speaker) crappy stock speakers with nice aftermarket. I amplified them using an AudioControl amp. The system is the same as any other 2016+ non-B&O system with Sync 3. The only possible differences are some trucks might have wiring for their kicker factory option amp, and some may have that center channel speaker.

    Hi there!!! I have a 2015 F150 Supercab with front door speakers, back door speakers, tweeters in A pillar and little center channel i believe like yours on your videos. It has a stock head unit with the 4 inch screen. I have a couple of questions. 1. If never touched from the factory does that stock unit have any factory amplification / amplifier? 2. Is the stock head unit with the 4 inch screen like yours on the video? Yours looks larger. 3. Is there a difference in power between the 4 inch screened stock deck vs. yours from the video. My point in asking is that i want to change my tweeters also and would love to see the same improvements in sound that you experienced. Sincerely, Joe

      @@FatGuyBuilds lol tell me more how you have no clue about proper wiring and issues with certain connectors. Even the 30 years as an audio installer, other people installed shit using those crappy ass crimp caps and bring the vehicle in wondering why their shit isnt working, soon as you moved the headunit out the dash, the caps fell off. They are just as shitty as wire twist caps and why electricians are getting away from using them. Sounds like you dont know how to crimp butt splices properly or know how to properly solder.

      Jason Georgievski I have an alpine pdx-v9 powering my doors so 100w rms. How would I wire these to the crossover -4db or -2db?

    • @FatGuyBuilds
      @FatGuyBuilds  6 лет назад

      I guess if you are not going to lower the power using the gain. the I would do -4

    • @BAttitude7689
      @BAttitude7689 6 лет назад

      Jason Georgievski since there is a full range signal coming in then I would have to lower the gain but at that point I'm not getting the most from door speakers if I lower the gain , is that why your saying go with -4db?

      yes, I am pushing around 80RMS and they seem to be fine in my truck.

    Beware the Ecoboost! Had Fords all my life - F150s, F250s, Explorers, Expeditions, but my 2012 3.5 Ecoboost blew up twice and Ford ran from the problem. Original engine disintegrated at 83K miles, used replacement went to 91K miles. Loved the truck but cant afford new engines every 80-90K. I will never buy another Ford piece of junk!

    • @FatGuyBuilds
      @FatGuyBuilds  6 лет назад +6

      Not quite sure, but engines don't fail like that without a different issue causing the problem. you got a lemon. shit happens. I am sorry to hear your problems. but when you compare your issue to the hundreds of thousands of that engine, your engine issues are not normal. could have had a bad tune causing knock. could have been running bad gas from your area. could be a bunch of stuff!

      I don't get why anyone would take less than the Coyote. The LS, the 2JZ, the EJ20, and yes... the Coyote are the best engines in the world today. The are all "Overspec" internals and will take an enormous amount of power before you have to go into the block.

    • @mattmedina35
      @mattmedina35 5 лет назад

      1.) The 2.7EB is less expensive, 2.) It has better MPG (average 19-22 MPG), 3.) Not everyone needs to tow 11,600 lbs...9,000 lbs is plenty for a lot of people, 4.) Stock for stock, it'll smoke the V8. Start getting into bolt-ons and tuning and it will be no contest. Not saying the Coyote is a bad engine (it's actually great), but I just listed 4 reasons why people would take "less" than the Coyote. The 2.7EB is the #1 selling F150 out of all the engine options since its release for good reason.

    • @GetsumJ
      @GetsumJ 5 лет назад +1

      I would respectfully disagree with a lot, but especially the "Outselling" one. It's more a matter of 65% of the production is either the 2.7 or 3.5. The reason is that Ford markets the F-150 to people who may run to Loews once a month and think they need a truck. Many of us actually use our trucks on 82 acre ranches in North Texas, and when were not in the F-150, we’re in the F250 or 350. If you want to compare the Ford 2.7 to the world market, then the 2.7EB is WAY outclassed by the EJ20.. and I mean.. it's not even in the game. The Coyote and the LS however not only can compete, but own the world market as the best V8 power plants built. Lastly, I would dispute the performance numbers (Pre-2019) are close. But in North Texas, I cannot confirm or deny that a stock looking 2016 F-150 Crew Cab if running around with a Roush Phase II kit under the hood, 3.73 gears, Shelby Razors, and a nice MBRP side exhaust system. That power could never be realized in the 2.7.
