You just saved me at least $75!!! I need 3 of these and the cheapest option I found was about $25. I'll be making these now for my geriatric dog! Thank you so much! Your dog is ADORABLE!
You are so welcome, Olivia. Muttley used this until he was 18 months old. I gave it to my sister for her old dog and when he passed away she gave it to her friend so it has done the rounds for puppies and old dogs.
I made this according to your instructions yesterday after I watched your video. Great idea! I used some file boxes with lids that I had in storage and had never used. Works great, however, my dog is still a little shy going up for some reason but I'm sure she'll get used to it. I threw a soft rug over the top and secured it so it's nice and cushy for her.
Muttley is six months old now and he still uses it. He is a dachshund and typical of the breed as his chest grows and his back gets longer he is at risk of back injuries so I plan to be using it for a long while. Muttley is exceptionally long twice as long in the body as his sister from the same litter. He has a good swagger to his behind as his back legs try to catch up as he walks hahahaha.
He is just so helpful isn't he?!?! I wish I had seen this before my poor pup was diagnosed with IVDD and lost the use of her back legs...moat likely from jumping on and off things. Great idea! I HIGHLY recommend getting something like this!
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel I'm sorry I'm just seeing your response Alison! My pup may be "special needs" but she doesn't know she's any different than the rest 😉💗 Your little guy is just the cutest!!
Omg thank you Alison! I have a 2mo old dachshund who wants to sleep on our bed. I dicided to look for ramps in store but its way over the puppy budget we have, this willhelp our puppy get on our bed without needing our assistance. Thank you very much!
Hello again, Alison! I just subscribed to your channel last night while learning from you how to make my first loom knit hat - and now I've found this as well. We have a 10 year old Westie, who always needs help onto the couch - but now we can make her this little ramp and she can go and snuggle on the couch anytime she likes! Thank you again - your videos are great. Happy New Year and all the best for 2021
Wonderful! good to see this is still being watched. Go to Argos and get some free catalogues to weigh it down from the inside that's what I did and scrunched up papers and books.
wow, that is a very good idea!! I happen to have some boxes, and I was thinking on making a ramp for my pup. she's a little 13 yr old mini pin mixed with greyhound. Thank you very much for sharing!
This is amazing! Thank you so much! I was looking for an easy way to make a ramp for my dog and this is the best and cheapest way to do this. Thanks for the wonderful idea! 😊👍
Even if you have to use 4 boxes so the steepness isn't too steep if you know what I mean. The bottom lowest boxes don't need to be so tall but I kept them all the same so the thickness of cardboard would be equal.
ohh poor thing at that age she must be a bit like myself, I have joint issues and my stairs are a mountain for me.. You can use more boxes to make the slope more gentle for her if you have the space for it. Stuff the inside of the boxes tight with scrunched up paper and old books. I glued all the sections together with PVA glue then wrapped sellotape all around the whole thing. ( I had no duck tape) I put on 2 layers of the flat area on the slope. I glued one in place then the other on the top. When you add carpet or a cut up rug it becomes very stable. Muttley has been using this one for the whole time I have had him about 8 weeks. he chewed a corner but other than that it's perfect. you could always print off pics of your dog and paste them to it for decoration.
Alison Russell's Craft Channel I'm sure you did. I bought my dog a ramp a few years ago for $100.00. She used it one time. She is a large dog and didn't like that it bounced while she walked on it. 🤔
You bet! i have to make a new one as my dog has a slipped disk and cant walk he is recovering very slowly but i will need ramps as iv been advised to never let him jump up and down off the sofa or bed again.
Hi, New subbie here...My baby looks just like yours except he's older (10 yrs.)...His name is Bandit I made a ramp for him too a few years back because he actually hurt his little back. He wound up healing well thank goodness. But yes, i suggest that anyone who owns a Dachshund show have a ramp or steps for them. :-)
Mine just jumps everywhere now but I will keep my ramp as his back is very long much longer than my son's 2 dachshunds I have pet insurance too, fingers crossed he has no problems but with a back as long as his I am taking no chances.
I agree with you hon. My baby is just like one of my children to me...I don't even date anymore (which doesn't bother me ) because it seemed like every time i got involved with someone they either didn't want animals or couldn't have them where they live. To me, he comes before ANY man LOL he was here 1st. ;-)
Thank you for sharing your creativity with your viewers. It's very practical and budget friendly 😊
Muttley is an adorable doggo.
He is and so very good at keeping me active.

That's great to hear, Stephanie. Just adjust the slope to suit your dog. I save a fortune too making mine.
