We all know the basics: Jonah runs from God, gets swallowed by a fish, prays, and is spit out onto dry land. But here’s what often gets overlooked: Nineveh, where Jonah was sent, worshipped fish deities like Dagon and Oannes. Imagine how Jonah showing up, fresh out of a giant fish, would have impacted them! Suddenly, his message of repentance takes on a new weight, and the entire city-from king to servant-responds immediately.
