Corinne shows how-to make a mini top hat so when you run away to the circus you are prepared! / craftovision / craftovision / craftovision / craftovision
@mirandabone No I didn't! He is on our gallery wall! Notice I used the underside of the box and not the top. Also, It was scrap fabric from the beginning and the pieces I cut off from that step are now still big enough to use for something else.
Omg, Stretch fabric over to create the flare, genius! I really didn't want to have to cut n glue lots of pieces of foam and you just answered my prayer!! ❤
@PTuinman It is a lot like the mad hatter tut but this answers sooooo many people's questions about how to make the fabric smooth on the main part of the hat. Also the brim piece is done differently. An upgraded version for sure:)
THANK YOU!!! This is the exact type of "DIY tiny top hat" video I was looking for! I looked at so many other videos that were way too crafty looking, required way too many weird supplies, or already started with a hat from a store! But this video is perfect - and the process leaves so much room to experiment with different shapes and designs. Again: THANKS! :)
Oh my gosh this is so perfect! My wedding is going to be steampunk and I was looking for mini top hats for my nieces. This is super easy and very customizable. I can make them match all of their personalities but still work for my wedding :) Thank you so much for this tutorial!!!
OMG, this is exactly what my daughter wants to wear - we saw something similar at Disney for the Mad Hatter, I can't tell you how excited I am to find this and so much more simpler then I thought. Thanks. Definite thumbs up!
Really incredible video tutorial, and much appreciated. Not only are you exceedingly talented in your field, but you're also gifted at teaching others! Thanks again!! and I hope we're lucky enough to see more videos in the future
I almost never consider glue to be a reasonable method for making things. You guys on the other hand have shown me that there are a ton of uses for it, and I am super excited to get my glue on... everything. I really like the way this hat turned out, another great little vid from the threadbangers group.
I have looked all over youtube comparing mini top hat tutorials and I have to say I really like yours the best, and will be trying to make one for a dog dress. Thank you for a great tutorial.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your tutorial! I discovered it on Pinterest and have been using it ever since. So far I've made 3 hats (couldn't decide which fabric I ultimately wanted to use so since it's so simple I did them all...) Mad Hatter themed and am making a 4th for a Doctor Who theme. Thanks so much! They are adorable and I'm now addicted!
This is the first threadbanger video I ever saw, love the direction of man vs pin the channel took. One of the only channels I’ve watched for this long :)
this is PERFECT!! i need to make a top hat for my birdcage veil for my wedding and this is the best video i have found thank you soooo much for posting!!
Oh my God. I've been binge watching vids all day not realizing I stumbled on a thread banger vid🥺I love your videos so dang much I basically grew up with this channel.
I LOVE it! I was looking for something to make a tea party for my daughter (who loves Alice in Wonderland) seem a little more like the Mad Hatter's tea party and I'm definitely making these and letting the girls add feathers, bling, lace and whatever. So cute!
I used this video to make a steampunk themed hat for a party I went to last weekend. My hat was a hit! This video seriously helped. I never could've done it otherwise. Thanks so much for this!
Great tutorial! Fast and easy. After I made it, it seemed too light and rocked back and forth on my head. I changed out the tie for a thin elastic headband (glued to the bottom of the hat) and added decoration and it's perfect! Made a fascinator for a masquerade fundraiser.
This is probably the best tutorial for an easy DIY top hat on RUclips. If I'm mistaken, its just I haven't found another one that achieves this look without sewing.
Sooo cute! I love it! I was actually the Mad Hatter for Halloween '10 and followed your MH tutorial...the hat came out AMAZINGLY. It looked almost identical to the film version...I still have it in my room :3
OMG thank you sooooooo much!! for my textile project at school i have to make a alice costume and part of it is a mini top hat, now i know how to make it, you have just saved my life! x
I love this! I bought a pre-made hat last year (Halloween) at the craft store for $7 (on sale), so this would be so much less expensive, and fun to individualize. Thanks for sharing the tutorial. :-)
So I just gave this a shot to make a hat of my own, and man! The Bias tape is obviously a must in order to really get a finished looking product. I don't have any though so I'll have to pick some up. Thanks for the tutorial though! ^^
Thank you so much! I've been wracking my brain on a simple way to make these. I'm trying to pull together a steampunk outfit for a convention I'm going to in a couple weeks and now it will be perfect, yay! :)
Cool! I made one with an extra-wide brim so I could turn it into a tricorn-tophat. One thing I found was that with the bottom being totally flat it wanted to slide off my head. I ended up cutting open the bottom and turning it to the inside and attaching my ribbon to the sides. Then it sat on my head a lot more securely.
I had a Alice in wonderland 30th birthday party and I made about 25 these hats for party favors. This is a great tutorial
oh my gosh what a fantastic party host you are, that's awesome! :))
Thx
I know this was a long time ago but I have about 20 of these to make for a hens night... how long did it take you??
Corinne. It's been 8 years. We love you and Rob.
@xPixi3 Yeah, I am making a whole steampunk costume from that fabric so those pieces were left over from that.
@mirandabone No I didn't! He is on our gallery wall! Notice I used the underside of the box and not the top. Also, It was scrap fabric from the beginning and the pieces I cut off from that step are now still big enough to use for something else.
@ThreadBanger ...also I just wanted to show off the Bansky box...they were our wedding thank you cards and I love that cover art.
@24ntk Thank you! I am really happy with it! :)
Omg, Stretch fabric over to create the flare, genius! I really didn't want to have to cut n glue lots of pieces of foam and you just answered my prayer!! ❤
@fashionlover3 It's actually more of a crafting glue. Their fabric glue is usually clear in my experience.
@PTuinman It is a lot like the mad hatter tut but this answers sooooo many people's questions about how to make the fabric smooth on the main part of the hat. Also the brim piece is done differently. An upgraded version for sure:)
So happy to see you again Corinne! Love this DIY how-to!
I just wanted to let you know that your tutorial is probably the best to date I have ever seen! Keep up the amazing work!!

I love it so much! Great tutorial :) I love that you used bias tape to give the hat a nice finished look!
OMG, this is exactly what my daughter wants to wear - we saw something similar at Disney for the Mad Hatter, I can't tell you how excited I am to find this and so much more simpler then I thought. Thanks. Definite thumbs up!

@pamcenturion03 If you notice I actually cheated and used the bottom part of the box instead of the cover. We hung that on our gallery wall:)
SO cute, Corinne! I love it!
This is the best mini top hat tut I've seen on all of youtube!
Really incredible video tutorial, and much appreciated. Not only are you exceedingly talented in your field, but you're also gifted at teaching others! Thanks again!! and I hope we're lucky enough to see more videos in the future

Great tutorial! Fast and easy. After I made it, it seemed too light and rocked back and forth on my head. I changed out the tie for a thin elastic headband (glued to the bottom of the hat) and added decoration and it's perfect! Made a fascinator for a masquerade fundraiser.

This is amazing! :) Thanks a lot for this, I can finally finish my cosplay of Mad Hatter.
Can you please make a tutorial on how to make steampunk goggles???
