I live in Poland, a very homophobic country, I cannot tell my parents that I am a lesbian because I know that it will not be well received, but the songs and films that strangers come out help me a lot in accepting myself, which is not easy when from the youngest years I have been told that lgbtq + is bad, it touches me very much when the parents of children who come out of the closet in front of them only hug them and say that they love them, and I hear their parents' unpleasant comments every day and I wonder if will I ever be able to get married in Poland with my girlfriend? I'm too scared to tell my other friends or my mom or my super Christian sister that I'm bi/pansexual (still not fully sure yet, maybe I'm gay too).
i wasn’t afraid actually. but that’s because most of my mates are either guys or they’re lgbtq+ too (or both).
I am scared as well, I really only have male friends and I’m pretty sure if I came out it would be pretty awkward.
I came out to my parents using this song around seven years ago (I was 12), and while things have changed for me over the years, I am still firmly a part of the lgbtq+ community (only this time as the T and the As lol). I remember my mother (a heavily Christian woman) was very upset and abusive towards me (even more so after coming out to her) and I was unable to revisit this video and listen to this song for many years. While she still has a long way to go, and her abuse has only taken on a different shape over time, I'm finally in a good enough place to listen to this song again. Thank you Ally for giving me the confidence to come out and say I like girls when I was but a young girl myself, and while I've learned more about myself and my identity over the years, and the "gay" label doesn't quite fit me anymöre, I am still unbelievably appreciative. When I told my parents that I was into girls I was 18. My mom responded by yelling at me, and my dad punched me, kicked me, and threw me against a wall. He actually broke one of my ribs, and I had to flee. Good thing I was going to college anyway, so I could move into my 'dorm' room a bit early. Never went back home, and my parents refused all contact. My sorority fully accepted me for who I was, and never judged me for being a lesbian. I'm 26 now, and recently got married to the sweetest, kindest, most sexy gal in the galaxy! Her parents immediately accepted me into their family, and never had any problems with the relationship between their daughter and I... ❤

To be honest, I'm straight but I have a big respect to everyone especially to the LGBT community. And I believe that you don’t have to be gay to be a supporter, you just have to be yourself.
We are all people and that’s it. We’re all equal. Everyone deserves to be respected right? Some people say that I'm an "Ally" and I don't know what that means.

At least their understanding, I am planning on never coming out to my family, ever. Especially my dad and brothers , they were openly rude to a gay friend of our when he came over. They use gay as an insult and are being taught by my father that it's okay to say "fag" and "fa***it".
