Take me back to Tsurumi, one of the most underrated, most heartfelt, but also terrifying storylines the game has to offer imo. In tears listening back on this one
Yes, Tsurumi is definitely the most creepy place in Genshin. I remember I explored it during night and subconsciously watched over my shoulder as I played. The atmosphere and story of that island is very dark
Rough breakdown of Ruu's Story (some minor alterations and theorising in the comments) : - Long ago, an ancient civilisation resided over Tsurumi island's underground cities, and they seemingly worshipped some kind of moon, or eclipse, shown in their murals. - This was later destroyed by celestia, with only the ruins remaining - Later on, the Thunderbird started living on the island, travelling between Tsurumi and Seirai - Centuries later, new humans begun living on Tsurumi, and something fell to the island from the sky, covering it in an eternal fog. The Thunderbird was aware of this happening, but did nothing - The humans thought it was the Thunderbird trying to protect them from outside influence, and started hosting ceremonies and sacrifices to please the bird, believing it will continue to protect them if they continue doing so. - But to the Thunderbird, the humans and the animals of the island were no different. It never particularly cared for the humans or any other beings - It was commong practise for somebody to sing during the human's ceremonies, and many centuries later, a young boy named Ruu was selected to sing. He was embarassed, so went far away to practise his singing. The thunderbird noticed him, and was please by his voice. Ruu gave her a name, Kanna Kapatcir, and he told his tribe about this meeting. - His tribe then made the decision to sacrifice Ruu, believing that this would please the Thunderbird further, to which he actually agreed. His friend Kama, finds this decision absurd, and leaves to live on Seirai. - Ruu is consequently sacrificed and his blood filled the ritual goblet (In the JP/CN sub version, Ruu was actually skinned alive, had his tongue cut off, sacrificed his blood, bones were removed from his body for the sacrifice. ) - The Thunderbird returns hoping to hear Ruu sing again, only to find his body on the altar. She grows infuriated and destroyed the entire tribe in her rage. She curses the people of Tsurumi to suffer her endless destruction until she is again able to hear Ruu singing. - For some reason unbeknownst to us, Ruu does actually remain on Tsurumi, likely due to ley line abnormalities and such - Ruu believes something went wrong during the ceremony and attempts again, and the island creates illusions of his family and friends of his tribe. After every cermony, the destructions begins again, Ruu continues to aid the rituals for thousands on thousand of years, hiding in places where thunder could not strike - Raiden Ei eventually ended up killing the Thunderbird during the Archon war, and sealed it's residual power in the Asase Shrine - Later on, Asase Hibiki unsealed the bird's power to help Ako Domeki, causing Seirai to be transformed into it's current appearance - Presently, the traveler arrives on Tsurumi with the current generation of Kama's family, and accepts Ruu's request to aid in the ceremony once again, where they learn the truth of the endless destruction and torment the thunderbird place on the island. The traveler eventually realizes that the only way to stop this cycle of destruction is for the bird to hear Ruu sing once more. - Ruu is unable to leave Tsurumi however, so we provide him with a Peculiar Pinion we acquired in a previous journey. With this aid, Ruu is able to travel to Seirai, and the residual energies of the Thunderbird acknowledge his singing, and the curse is lifted. Ruu comes to realize just how long he's really spent on Tsurumi, how many ceremonies and rituals he has re-enacted. - His final request is that we take the Pinion with us on our travels, since it contains parts of his spriit, and we will be able to help him fulfil his dream of travelling the world
Interestingly all of this was written in the thundering fury artifact set, which was added on the game's official launch, version 1.0. Goes to show you how ahead they plan everything
I refuse to let any other ost play in my teapot besides Ruu's Melody. This is the first quest that completely transformed my opinion of major world quest from tedious to something worth my time experiencing despite their length.
This song made me cry during ruu’s story quest, everytime it plays in my playlist, even on the road to my uni cuz I keep remembering my late grandfather. Even though it is a sad one, it calms me and helps me forget about stressful things.
Almost same. It doesn't really calm me down, it's too simple of a melody and not my cup of tea when it comes to the melody, but it makes me cry and throws me into some bittersweet melancholy regardless
This world quest made me cry harder than any other quest in genshin tbh and i still tear up when i hear this song, and i feel like the little bit of hope in the song's melody really comes from how ruu is just a child and is innocent, still excited for adventure, trusts and loves the traveler, and sees the best in everyone and every situation despite being failed so deeply and wronged so horribly over and over. brb now im crying again
That song being the last song of the Inazuma arc was the most memorable event of my Genshin journey. I remember everyone saying Inazuma sucks, Hoyo sucks, blah blah blah, and I felt like it was kind of discouraging to continue playing. But then after playing this world quest, I felt like none of that mattered because in that moment I won’t forget how much comfort it has brought me during the toughest times under quarantine and how this game has brought people together from all around the world. tbf its the archon quest that sucked a lot (the second part of it, anyways) adn some chara quests (specifically kokomi and ei). the rest of the story there was amazing.
To be fair, a lot of the dislike towards Inazuma was due to the Archon quest, which was poorly paced. Once you get to the extra areas (Seirai Island onwards) it gets A LOT better, and reaches its peak by Enkanomiya and Tsurumi.
People only really said it was bad because of the archon quest and main areas. The areas after the archon quest people don't complain about. I feel like lumping all the complains together and saying it doesn't matter because of things that weren't part of the issues isn't helping at all...
Also, now that the Fontaine OST is officially out, I can finally put names to my favorite tracks since I couldn't when you first asked for suggestions - Ballad of Many Waters - La nuit silencieuse et paisible - The Oratrice's Verdict - Clement Rillet - Peripatetic Peregrination - La cite en la mer - Tranquil Plains - Ebb and Flow

The soundtrack of Tsurumi island is one of my favorite from Genshin, because I feel it exemplifies one of the things Genshin does well generally; it expresses sorrow very vividly, not as a rejection of the world for the absence of the lost, but as an appreciation that something beautiful once was there.
If anyone wants to know a bit more about the gruesome details and more in depth to the Tsurumi island quest, go read the Thundering Fury set description…it broke my heart reading it
Ruu's theme is definitely one of my fav ost in genshin. Everytime i go to tsurumi island and this song played i just stand there and hear it with tears in my eyes. It's so beautiful. Simple yet so emotional. 😢❤️
@@sarahrodrigues4936make it so that all storage taken can be removed after the completion of the quest will solve the problem though. They just don't wanna hire VA for these world quests which aren't that important than main quests.
@@sarahrodrigues4936 They could make World Quest's voices downloadable like languages, so people with little space can pick and choose Most of the Aranara quest without voices is absolutely insufferable
you don't even complete this particular Ruu quest but, you really explain whats behind the quest containins. You explain absolutely right what happens to this quest... when I first complete this quest, same... I hear & watch the cutsene... it's really awesome...
Hearing Ruu's song without knowing the story is like hearing 'For Riddles, for Wonders' for the first time. It's relaxing and beautiful and pretty until you play the whole dang thing/hear when it plays. 🥲
Peculiar Pinion -A strange feather. It may be able to trigger some wondrous effects if used on Tsurumi Island. Take this feather with you into the world. *You did promise him that you would, after all.*
This is why every time someone says to me that Inazuma was mid I go "bruh are we even playing the same game?". So far I love every single zone in genshin. Yes, even The Chasm 😂
This quest and this theme just always make me emotional and cry. Ruu and Kpatchir story is so sad and makes me think of the children irl who are let down by adults everyday. There is just something so innocent and sad in it
The first 1 minute already had me bawling. It's so emotionally provoking and I had to type this with tears streaming down my face. Deep breaths. Deep breaths. I need to get through your reaction !!
Update: I got through your reaction. (Still crying) thank you for the wonderful insights. It really is the hope and curiousity after immeasurable pain--- both from Ruu, and from us who witnessed/will witness his story.
marco, i really have to say ur reactions are so enjoyable to watch. u dont do or say anything more than necessary just cause its a youtube video, Instead u show ur reaction by beeing ur true self and letting us see how invested u get and just let the music take u where ever it wants to, thats the beauty of music isnt it? and afterwards u sure ur thoughts with us, perfect
Inazuma gets a lot of flack for the archon quest but some of the world quests in that area are really well done. Tsurumi island's quest aka Ruu's quest is one of the best in the game and you should give it a try. However, if i remember correctly, it is one of those time-gated quests that needs a server reset to unlock the next part.
Truly one of the best world quests we got. I remember opening my map and seeing all the red fog. It was really scary but the atmosphere on the island feels very special. It was also one of the early moments the game really showed how dark its story can actually get.
Thematically, Ruu's storyline is about the tragic mistaking of evil for good because of the non-communication between Tsurumi Island's inhabitants and their local god-bird. Don't communicate or be heard, tragedy follows. However, this same storyline is also about the beauty of our human stories and what can happen when we connect and are heard on that deep level. Even if your story is tragic, you are a human, and that means your story has meaning. The beauty of being human and having the meaning of your story heard (be that by a Traveler and their companion, or even by your descendants) is powerfully hopeful. Thank you so much for your analysis, letting me put together what I'd found in the storyline with your reading of the music. Keep being open-hearted!
Rare speechless marco moment, as ruu's song deserves, that world quest is a well known highly emotional point in inazuma, on par with nahida's archon and second story quests, and lantern rites.
I cried like a little child along with my two sisters (we play quest’s together on my account), this and nahida’s demo music can make me cry instantly. It reminds me of my childhood and how the time is passing..its my favourite soundtrack forever ❤️
I first heard this song after the funeral for my father. As the eldest son, i was looked upon and taught to not cry. after all as the eldest son, i am the next man of the family. The night after the funeral i was playing through the world quest with mostly apathy from the events the past week of deaths. But... when i heard this, safe to say i pretty much broke in tears. both in sadness of my father being gone. and for some reason, happiness that maybe at least he's somewhere better. Idk when i will forget this song or it's feelings... but i know that at the very least, it gave me a push to the next day.
Even tho the whole quests is pain in the ass., but Tsurumi Island is my favorite place on Inazuma. It's like I pay respect to Ruu and the Thunderbird, tell him the adventure that I've been through
Thank you for this. It’s my 35th birthday today. Last year was my worst year. I was diagnosed with a mental illness last year, got into a vehicular accident, struggled financially because of it, and my partner left me a week ago. I listen to this song every night because it gives me a sense of calmness. Now I know why. Thank you for translating the message of this song for me. I will be okay. Praying things will be better from here on forward. Sending lots of love. Thank you. ❤
Ever since I first heard this song I searched for the spincrystal and had this play as the main theme of my teapot. I feel so at peace with this song whenever I hear it despite the sad memories behind the melody it has (if you know, you know)
before sumeru and fontaine were open to the world, i went back to the tsurumi island and stood in front of the tree in the kanna mountain just to respect ruu's wishes, and recalled all my travels, as if i was sharing my stories from the journey with him. probably seems pointless to some, but that was my personal promise with ruu. and i have the island namecard on my game profile too, so ruu is travelling with me.
i love hearing marco break down these songs. i really think it helps people like me who dont have such a very logistical understanding of music gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for what we are hearing. of course the music makes us FEEL things but its always been so hard to understand why. thats why I love these videos that marco makes so much. i feel like i get it now. thank you marco 🥰
The pain I feel whenever i hear this song and remember Ruu's story😭Still., i always play this at work cause it is very beautiful and calming (how ironic) 😅
I’ve been away from genshin from almost a year now (my device cant handle it) but just remembering this world quest makes me tear up. I remember vividly my first impression of tsurumi island - how creepy it was - and this world quest tied into it perfectly in the end
Man, I did this quest as soon as the island came out and it still really hurts to listen to this. Ruu's story is incredibly agonizing and tragic, he went through so much pain both physically and mentally that he repeats day after day for the sole reason that he thought it was something he HAD to do. I won't get too into it in the case that you wish to play through it yourself (which I highly recommend as it is one of the best stories in the game!), but it's just unbelievable just how cruel his fate was and listening to his song it's jarring how peaceful and hopeful and /kind/ it sounds compared to the reality he went through. Genshin's main story may not be dark and tragic, but a lot of the world quest stories are. This one made me sick to my stomach when realizing just what was happening to Ruu and I remember just balling during the cutscene where we first hear him singing this. This song never seizes to make me incredibly emotional even now. If you do decide to play through this quest, I hope you are able to experience it fully with no stress over rushing or missing anything. The whole island's soundtrack is really good, not just Ruu's song. I still listen to it to this day and I hope you get to enjoy it for yourself.
i still don't feel good staying too long on the island. ruu's quest is so depressing for me but also so good and i don't think i want to experience it again 🥲. ruu, you sweet, dear boy. your people don't deserve you, your parents don't deserve you. i wish it turned out differently for you. (he's not real but let me be)
Every time I listen to this song or read the peculiar pinion description, I feel a knot in my throat. It's such a sweet and sad song, from one of the best world quests this game has to offer. :') I hope Ruu is enjoying all the parts of the world we're showing him in our journey...
My god, this was one of the saddest, most heart-wrenching world quests up to that point in the game, when it came out and I'd argue it's the most emotional I got playing through a non-voiced quest line. This OST really put it over the edge for me and I'm really glad you reacted to it!
As a person who doesn't really play Genshin Impact, but watching people play it instead and came across to this song by chance. I literally crying when I hear this song for the first time as if I was immersed by the song completely. That's when I was trying to find out the story behind it and it just made me cry even more. This is no doubt the best ost I've heard and you also summaries it perfectly, it makes me happy somehow. I really wish I can go back and play it again.
I absolutely loved this world quest and the music. Specially the piano cover for Ruu’s Song, which is what got me into learning how to play the piano. It’s such a beautiful song filled with emotions from start to finish.
When you mentioned that children's songs are often simple but this had a more complicated part reminded me of what Ruu went through. Damn. I got chills haha
After playing this world quest that gets more and more darker and depressing without hearing any human voices, Ruu finally singing his song touches your heart. It's a bleak hope after all the suffering he has been through and even though you can't change the past, he can finally get the peaceful rest he deserves. I really enjoyed your breakdown of the song, you explained so well how and why we feel these things in music in a more technical way that I don't know much about.
This island broke my mind with all the puzzles and fog mechanics, then broke my heart when I understood everything Ruu went through. Unpopular opinion, maybe, but Tsurumi deserved the curse they got. It's a pity that it affected Ruu too, but at least the traveler helped him finally rest.
This quest.... it broke me, and I still remember how much I cried when we heard Ruu sing it. The melody is so simple, something that the mind of a child could definitely come up with, and yet at the same time it's soothingly beautiful and just incredibly sad in a bittersweet, tragic way given the context. I'm just glad we helped everyone in Tsurumi find peace, some of the stories the ghosts told were just so sad. Thank you for reacting to this
this world quest should've been dubbed tbh, it is SO important for the whole story of the game, and it deserves much more attention. It's really really well-written
Lovely review of this, thank you Marco. I've had trouble articulating the way music makes me feel, and through your videos I feel like I'm connecting to music like this in a deeper way.
The Ruu Song is one of my favorite Genshin songs. It was both sad and happy at the same time. The first time I played this quest, I didn't feel anything. But after I played this quest, I would never forget it. This child named Ruu and Quest will remain in my heart forever.
Yessss, finally a react vid to this piece! I can't stress it enough that I find this to be one of the saddest, somewhat melancholic but also poignant pieces of Genshin Impact. For me, there's a tinge of hopefulness, acceptance (which are normally associated as positive), while all at the same time being devastatingly sad- I thought they wouldn't be able to top Once Colored Memories (Dragonspine OST that gave me the same feelings) but holyy I think if I could illustrate it, it's like the music of a once glorious era/civilization that's just now dead (which, hello, is exactly Dragonspine and Tsurumi). So you're left with nostalgia, like I said acceptance, then hope but also grief. I really love this piece!
This song still gives me chills that make my heart ache, it's one of those quests that really struck me deep. Ruu was living in a loop thanks to the Thunder Bird who couldn't handle the poor boy's death, and when the island was freed of its curse....His song was finally heard and peace...
Looking back at this piece is the pure inocent kid that i have ever heard he is a lone child that meet a tragic end in the end with him sing a lulubay to guide every lost soul in this island i love it and love it the reaction you gave it marco and your point at the music gesture to align with the kids song
One of my absolute FAVOURITE OST in the entire game. This world quest in game is really sad and beautiful. Just like every music on Tsurumi Island. Hopefully we'll see your gameplay there soon.
I always remember the description of the item "Peculiar Pinion" we get in this quest, and I always take it to me in all my travels: "A strange feather. It may be able to trigger some wondrous effects if used on Tsurumi Island. Take this feather with you into the world. You did promise him that you would, after all." I did promise him that I would, after all.
Ruu's quest is the only quest in the game that actually made me cry so far in genshin impact, although many other world and archon quests made me teary and close to crying. So far, I have yet to cry again and still looking for the future world quest to cry on. At the same time, Ruu's world quest is the reason why I love doing world quest until this day because the game actually kill some characters and you feel attached to them more than the archon quests since you were there with them from beginning of the adventure to the very end of their lives.
When Ruu spoke to the main character saying "I'm really tired, I need to sleep" That's when I lost it. What I really love about this song is whether you played the game or not, you can feel the melancholic beauty in it and tell that it isn't a happy song. It's a sort of lullaby, a song you feel in that vulnerable space between peace and longing. A song that describes the needed rest. This game excels in storytelling and crafting, but the music is underappreciated in many facets. A simple quest from polygons that aren't real stole my heart and I love it.
Every time I go back to Tsurumi island since finishing this quest line, I stop dead in my tracks as soon as I hear Ruu’s song. Can’t help but take the time to listen, and I always tear up. It’s hope, wonder, and sadness wrapped into one beautifully simple yet complex song.
I loved this quest, it was sad but the music is beautiful. I learned to play this on Kalimba recently. Definitely this OST is in my top 5. Genshin NEVER flops with OSTs
I remember doing this quest...and i wanted it to stop...i sensed it was getting more depressing as it progressed and it did...in the end it was worth it. all the quests on this island was to me a way to come to terms with tragedy and it was well executed...i just wished that some of these banger world quests were voiced
Ruu's story is such a sad one I actually recommend you don't just rely on the comments to tell you but go play it yourself instead. It really is such a good story about very cruel practices and how that child had to let go in the end. How the island got destroyed. So good. So sad. T-T
I remember that was the first time I broke down crying while playing Genshin. I was very sad already when we bring him to that place. But when he started singing, then the surrounding area started to glow and the feather appeared, I realized Kanna Kapatcir heard him and it makes her rest in peace. And that's when I broke down crying. To this day, whenever I see a beautiful world during the exploration in Genshin, I take out the feather he gave us. And I cast it to let him know, I will never forget that promise.
you gotta check "Fading Memories" too man it takes the sadness in this work into a whole another level (since they belong to the same location) I loved it as much as I learned to play it on lyre :) don't miss it, you won't regret it
If you haven't played Tsurumi quest already, you're in it for tearful eyes when the music is played. On another note, I don't know if you explored the new Fontaine Institute area, but there's a music played there that sounds like a Satie's Gymnopédie to my ears. It deserves to be heard.
One of Genshin's phenomenal lore and music. 🫶 I always get emotional hearing Ruu's song but your interpretation of the melody made me teary eyed. Thanks for reviewing this music 💞✨

If anyone wants to know a bit more about the gruesome details and more in depth to the Tsurumi island quest, go read the Thundering Fury set description…it broke my heart reading it
Not enough, you need to *translate the CN JP text* bcuz the EN version tone down that gore
Ruu's theme is definitely one of my fav ost in genshin. Everytime i go to tsurumi island and this song played i just stand there and hear it with tears in my eyes. It's so beautiful. Simple yet so emotional. 😢❤️
This melody is playing in my house in a Teapot... Every time I come in and start crying 😭
I have the Oasis theme going in there, and I feel the same every time. Those two places are the saddest to me. I never go back to Tsurumi.
It's why I couldn't play it in my teapot cuz I would always cry😭
One of the best quests in the game easily. World quests don’t get the respect they deserve IMO
True! i hope they also voiced these kind of quest.
@@hxenjwelThe only reason they don’t is because voicing all of them would annihilate the storage space
@@sarahrodrigues4936even just saying the first word of each line would work like what some games do
@@sarahrodrigues4936make it so that all storage taken can be removed after the completion of the quest will solve the problem though. They just don't wanna hire VA for these world quests which aren't that important than main quests.
@@sarahrodrigues4936 They could make World Quest's voices downloadable like languages, so people with little space can pick and choose
Most of the Aranara quest without voices is absolutely insufferable
"It's gonna be okay. Life will move on, you've got this" got me crying ohmy god i love your analyses so much Marco
And I took a screen shot of this for the bad days when someone is mean to me for no reason. Thank you.
you don't even complete this particular Ruu quest but, you really explain whats behind the quest containins. You explain absolutely right what happens to this quest... when I first complete this quest, same... I hear & watch the cutsene... it's really awesome...
This! This is the world quest that got me ugly crying. I couldn't stop sobbing when I heard this. The story + the music? Absolute perfection.
The world quest makes this song hits harder than Celestial nail.
Its a huge shame that there isnt any voice acting for the world quests cause theyre just as impactful and important as the archon quests
Hearing Ruu's song without knowing the story is like hearing 'For Riddles, for Wonders' for the first time. It's relaxing and beautiful and pretty until you play the whole dang thing/hear when it plays. 🥲
Peculiar Pinion
-A strange feather.
It may be able to trigger some wondrous effects if used on Tsurumi Island.
Take this feather with you into the world.
*You did promise him that you would, after all.*
OMG HE DID IT I WAS WAITING AAAAA
Let's all cry together now 🙏🏻
Take this feather with you into the world.
You did promise him that you would, after all.
(Still crying)
thank you for the wonderful insights.
I very much appreciate that
Poor Ru. To die like that
Makes me wonder and shudder that irl people were treated even worse. Gosh this theme is epic and so emotional
Ruu's story is so memorable, I think it's one of the most unique side quests in video game history. Insanely underrated.
I love all Genshin osts with children’s choir. My favourite is Ruu’s Song, so is the world quest. So beautiful and sad.
Hats off you nailed it! The emotions you mentioned were exactly the ones the world quest made us feel.
I wish that world quest was voice acted. It was one of the best.
Genshin can be pretty dark, but the generally have a good ending.
It's like I pay respect to Ruu and the Thunderbird, tell him the adventure that I've been through
Tsurumi island fucking *Hurts* you. I love it
Thank you for this.
Thank you. ❤
Happy Birthday, bro! All best wishes for you.
Just remembering the quest from 2 years ago still hits hard than any other world quest
i always feel goosebumps listening to this and the oasis theme. both quests are so emocional and so so good
i miss Ruu and Jeht
Ever since I first heard this song I searched for the spincrystal and had this play as the main theme of my teapot. I feel so at peace with this song whenever I hear it despite the sad memories behind the melody it has (if you know, you know)
That song is accompanied by one of the saddest stories in the game.
before sumeru and fontaine were open to the world, i went back to the tsurumi island and stood in front of the tree in the kanna mountain just to respect ruu's wishes, and recalled all my travels, as if i was sharing my stories from the journey with him. probably seems pointless to some, but that was my personal promise with ruu. and i have the island namecard on my game profile too, so ruu is travelling with me.
Ruu's quest...
Or: "When the sidequest of a little island in the corner of the map is better than the main quest"...
i love hearing marco break down these songs. i really think it helps people like me who dont have such a very logistical understanding of music gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for what we are hearing. of course the music makes us FEEL things but its always been so hard to understand why. thats why I love these videos that marco makes so much. i feel like i get it now. thank you marco 🥰
that is so sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why? WHY you take me back to those days? WHY!?
Im not crying, you are 😭
The pain I feel whenever i hear this song and remember Ruu's story😭Still., i always play this at work cause it is very beautiful and calming (how ironic) 😅
I will never forget this worldquest, one of my favorites,
I’ve been away from genshin from almost a year now (my device cant handle it) but just remembering this world quest makes me tear up.
Tsurumi Island and Ruu's is such a great and tragic story. One of the best world quests it's so well written.
They really make "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened" to a song.
But man, I still can't stop crying when I hear this song...
It's really really well-written
this song still makes my eyes start watering even after so long
Lovely review of this, thank you Marco. I've had trouble articulating the way music makes me feel, and through your videos I feel like I'm connecting to music like this in a deeper way.
Loved the zone, quest and music, one of the times I actually cried in genshin. Rest in peace Ruu
Oh, it's time to cry again... OK
yeah...
For me, there's a tinge of hopefulness, acceptance (which are normally associated as positive), while all at the same time being devastatingly sad- I thought they wouldn't be able to top Once Colored Memories (Dragonspine OST that gave me the same feelings) but holyy
I think if I could illustrate it, it's like the music of a once glorious era/civilization that's just now dead (which, hello, is exactly Dragonspine and Tsurumi). So you're left with nostalgia, like I said acceptance, then hope but also grief. I really love this piece!
the tsurumi quest is something i can remember so vividly, the second i found the spincrystal for ruu's melody i set it as my teapot's realm music
I always remember the description of the item "Peculiar Pinion" we get in this quest, and I always take it to me in all my travels:
"A strange feather.
It may be able to trigger some wondrous effects if used on Tsurumi Island.
Take this feather with you into the world.
You did promise him that you would, after all."
I did promise him that I would, after all.
god this world quest broke me poor baby 😭
Ruu's quest is the only quest in the game that actually made me cry so far in genshin impact, although many other world and archon quests made me teary and close to crying. So far, I have yet to cry again and still looking for the future world quest to cry on. At the same time, Ruu's world quest is the reason why I love doing world quest until this day because the game actually kill some characters and you feel attached to them more than the archon quests since you were there with them from beginning of the adventure to the very end of their lives.
Ruu's theme will ALWAYS BE HEARTBREAKING.. especially if you know his lore and played Tsurumi Island's Quest. 😢😢😢
AHHH When i saw that u react to it I'm so happy!! this song hits right in the feels everytime!!
This song just makes me tear and choke up everytime i hear it. This song imprinted Ruu's quest to me and it always takes me back.
ready to cry
I had his song in my Teapot for the longest time ater finishing his quest, it makes me emotional, that World Quest was just something else :')
you gotta check "Fading Memories" too man
it takes the sadness in this work into a whole another level (since they belong to the same location)
I loved it as much as I learned to play it on lyre :)
don't miss it, you won't regret it
Oh boy it's time for heartbreak
If you haven't played Tsurumi quest already, you're in it for tearful eyes when the music is played.
On another note, I don't know if you explored the new Fontaine Institute area, but there's a music played there that sounds like a Satie's Gymnopédie to my ears. It deserves to be heard.
One of Genshin's phenomenal lore and music. 🫶 I always get emotional hearing Ruu's song but your interpretation of the melody made me teary eyed. Thanks for reviewing this music 💞✨
This is a song about a promise that never get to be fulfilled. Such a sad and beautiful story
