Could add some warmerish water after water change too if desperate

That could work for the northern residents if needed🤘

My only concern might be bacteria die off in the filters causing somewhat of a spike in ammonia/nitrites in the tanks. Out of curiosity, did you check your water parameters?

I did not check the parameters when the filters started up again. I didn’t see any difference in the water or fish behavior this morning. My opinion is that there is enough oxygen in the filter for the bacteria to survive quite a long time. But, admittedly, this is just my theory with no proof.

I think in a pinch you could do small water changes and add some water which would increase oxygen. Must be other ways to add oxygen too. Power banks would run little USB air pumps plus some pumps have batteries made for such issues as power outages
    Glad no horrible damage?!

True. Many ways to add oxygen. The point of my discussion was I don’t think you ever would need to. I have a filterless fishbowl that never has any circulation or air stone.

I live in an area that gets power outages. Last winter I had power out for two days, and all the fish survived. I had UPS power supplies and aquarium coop battey powered air pumps that got me through the first day. My biggest concern was temperature. I ended up buying a generator mostly for heat.

I could always run all the tanks off the genny too, but really see no need on established tanks unless you have special fish requirements as mentioned.

I'm in Swfl and don't use heaters unless I'm treating a sick fish n need to get over that 76°F temps.

I have a heater just in case but have never needed to use it fortunately.

@@ssaquascapes yeah once I learned that my aquariums only dropped 2° by removing the heaters I took them all out. You don't think it really matters on the electric bill but when you have 15/16 tanks a heater in each of those adds up.

Oh yes. Anything with a heating element draws a lot of current. During the power outage I tried to run my air fryer off the generator. Let’s just say that little generator didn’t like the amp draw. 🤣

@@ssaquascapes i bet, I'm lucky enough to live with my in-laws and they have a generator that runs the entire house. Father in-law is on oxygen so we have to have power 24/7.

One of our neighbors has the same. Jealous. 🤣
