10 years ago in January on BaySprings lake a shad kill began. I caught 30#+ spots best 5 in 27# deadsticking a hair jig 2" off bottom. I doubt I'll experience that again.
Interesting. I have never seen a shad kill. I have seen occasional shad dying on the surface, but not several. It could be my waters might not get cold enough. Usually 48 degrees is about as low as the water gets.
I say gather a few up and go catfishing, fresh unfrozen shad is the best bait there is for cats, unfrozen being the key. Freeze a shad and it is ruined, imo.
