People keep saying this will be patched out like it's a bug, but it's clear that this feature was added intentionally into the game, given that the UI properly describes any humans you have. For instance, when you first capture a human the game gives a brief description in the same manner as Pals ("In Palgados Island, capturing humans is considered inhumane"), and if you look at a captured humans stats the game properly tells you that the human has "no partner abilities because they are not Pals".
That info it gives when you first do that is pretty clear, yea They had to specifically add that, the game does not generate messages on its own, so i do not understand how people actually believe this is a bug
I really hope the Palworld devs can expand more on the capturing humans aspect of Palworld and not delete it. Reminds me a lot of Big Boss from Peace Walker or MGSV hiring recruits with the Fulton Recovery lol
Tbh, i wouldnt mind a Pal Jail option where you can capture the Thugs types and get no - karma. If you place them in jail, after a certain amount of time, they join your base as a npc or something.
my best bet is that the game will be released without the ability to capture human but on their official website you could download a patch to unlock the feature. Many indie games do this to dodge bullets.
I don't think they are gonna get rid of it but I don't think they are gonna expand on it much more. It's there to be funny but I don't think they want to make it a core feature of the game. right now the most you can really get is a merchant closer to you.

It makes sense- you can get pals almost for free- you just make a palsphere out of random junk and take the time to catch them. Meanwhile humans are illegal to catch and doing so takes a better sphere.
So basically, just capture merchant for easy access to gain money. Other type of human NPC aren't really worth the effort. Got it. I'm curious btw, can you arms them with weapons? Seeing some pals can be armed, it's kinda funny if the human NPC can't.

For the regular merchant it's not necessary to wait for a high level one. Random merchants may come visit your base from time to time, and those are way easier to catch even with a regular ball than the lv. 30 ones in the villages.

Only Reason they're Uncatchable Right Now is because they're only Interactable in Raid Instances, which Disable the Effectiveness of Pal Spheres... Lorewise, Unlike most Humans in the Game, they are Skilled Pal Handlers, and use the Ancient Tech in the Towers to prevent their own Enslavement, from what I can tell. Ensuring that other People are left Unskilled and Defenceless without Firearms seems to be how They Rule over them, with their Powerful Pals as their Bodyguards to avoid being Overthrown...
I’m still kind of sad that they only have handiwork 1, because I would want like 5 syndicate thugs working in my mines, I had a plan on making Caesar’s Legion in Palworld

The captured humans gain their own skills as they level. What they don't have is the partner skill and pal equipment. Just think of them as passive tames. You can bring an OP one with your permanent party Pals. They're pretty decent in a fight, and the merchant/black marketeer is useful if you want to get rid of some excess weight. They also have stars, which means they can be upgraded.
I lucked out because wild pals were attacking a wandering merchant almost unaliving him he was level 1 just traversing my newly made base I threw one regular ball and caught him kept him at base ever since

I captured an islander lvl3, she had Brittle and Aggressive as traits ... is hilarious to watch them get one shot every time lol .... she's lvl 30 now and still terrible :D

Wish the humans would use their weapons instead of just bashing enemies with it. I know that you can have pals that use guns but they're either a) short duration abilities with a cooldown so it's not on them 24/7, and b) they don't have it on them and instead use like mounted guns.
I tried to look online but keep seeing conflicting info. Do the captured Merchants respawn in their towns? Id like some in my base as well as the ones in the towns.
So when do they start learning more than punching? Got 3 of the starter ones and none have learned a second skill yet at lvl 16. Plus the girl at the beginning doesn't even use shoot her gun but she does when you first fight her.

You can give them actual skills if you use skill fruits on them they work it’s funny to watch

if u get the armed ones they will use the weapons if ur base gets invaded
They will rebel against you to regain their freedom, don't do it.

Honestly the only further addition that would be nice is for the regular merchants to be able to be hired instead of caught to work at your base
