I love the Xmaxx and XRT. I am not going to buy this because I think the upgrades they chose don’t improve the truck by $500. I’d rather have a regular Xmaxx with a max 6, High end servo and hardened gears. The parts they replaced with alloy are inexpensive to fix on a standard Xmaxx. If this were $1200 it would be worth considering.
I just purchased an Xmaxx ultimate a few days ago. and it's my first one. I haven't bashed it yet but I love the size and durability of it so far. However for that price tag i do think that they could have done better with the body and the security of the batteries as well. But with the high cost of everything these days i don't see that price going down no time soon. as always I appreciate your videos and knowledge for us rookies in the RC world 💯
Earl I just learned something today when I was looking at parts online for the Xmaxx. The steel threaded end links on the aluminum steering links are replaceable. Traxxas sells them in a bag of 2, one for each end of the aluminum steering links. I ordered two bags of them part number 7798.
xmax in australia 2000 australian dollars then add batteries you don't get much change out of 3000 so im not going to go rushing out to get one and most people will need a second mortgage to go buy one here atm due to daylight robbery from the big banks , i got a kraton 4s for 800 bucks and that's about what people can afford without going hungry and sitting in the dark watching the crickets climb up the wall .
The XMaxx Ultimate is very underwhelming. I agree, some of the upgrades were needed and welcome but I think they executed them poorly. Like the rear hubs, they didn’t need to be aluminum, they needed to use a better plastic like RPM. The bell crank is a welcome upgrade I think as well as the hardened spur gear and pinion. But the front steering knuckles and block again should have been made from a better plastic so you don’t break them or rip the pins out. But I think the biggest let down is the power system. The same power system they have had in the truck for going on 7 yrs. Personally if I was in the market for a big Basher I’d go for the Outcast/Kraton 8s EXB RTR as it’s really a better value. And with the money I saved, I’d go over to M2C and order up parts to fortify it.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays buddy. Thanks for the vid as always. If I already did not own a xmaxx I would just buy the standard xmaxx and do my own upgrades with money saved.

In my experience, when I tried out metal hubs and C hubs on my X-Maxx, I did a small jump, I landed bad and I broke the upper control arm, lower control arm and the steering arm all in that one bad landing. I've never broken so much stuff at once after replacing the metal stuff with the stock plastic stuff indeed. My experience.

I heard a rumor, that the reason it doesn’t have a roof skid. Is because in order to keep it from poking through the cardboard, they would have to add an extra layer of foam which would raise the box dimensions. In that case, they couldn’t fit enough into a shipping container to fit logically. Also, I love my XMAXX. An upgraded esc with 8.4 volt bec and a steering servo to handle it… stiffer springs ,adjustable steering links , would be good for me … OOOO my bad that’s how mine is 😂🤣😂 too many upgrades = too many problems… but to each his own✌️✌️✌️
RC Driver dropped a vid last night on this. ..... And guess what broke TWO of those links, now yes ok it had a few tumble's but absolutely nothing I haven't seen on your channel. You'd think traxxas would reach out to the ppl who buy and run these rc's.... Maybe then it could live up to the new name ULTIMATE. personally I totally agree with everything your saying Earl like no roof rails.... Among everything else. One thing is definitely for sure it looks amazing.
Every time im ready to buy new rig i come look for it on your ch just make sure what im tryna get is worth my money im going for my first traxxas i think xmax is my choice. i already have some light bashers so rn looking for my first 8s and a ripper with stability
I was planning on getting the Xmaxx anyway but not the Ultimate. My XRT is 4 months old and fine as is. I'll just buy the new tires and maybe the alum gear cover. And DASSIT!
To add all the weight, charge 1500, and still not put the HD arms on it is absolutely insane to me. The ultimate xmaxx should be just that, ultimate. But no, they still leave out possibly the most important OEM upgrade for the added weight. That and no roof skid is just insulting tbh. Besides that though, my only real wish is that they would upgrade the electronics at some point. Maybe a stronger motor. But I think it's a fair ask for the people in the market for a tricked out xmaxx.
There motors are pretty good every velinion motor I’ve had been through a lot and now I’ve been over voltage to them . The escs are very conservative and efficient which is not what we want 😂 we want power hungry beast
Like Earl just said they could easily get more power , I learned why they do it , used moderate with there batteries it last for years . And pretty water proof if you take care of your rcs . When the velinion came out I did start burning them out but I think the wd40 would push the water in , I didn’t use air back than
Traxxas should do a real sale , they’d lose money on newbies but gane back from loyalists. I’d buy a xxmax right now if stock one was 8 or 900 or even this guy for 1200 . Great rcs but never a bargain , truly are the Apple of rcs .
I’ll stick to my wide xmaxx. Don’t think you need those metal upgrades. As long as Traxxas is selling the xmaxx well they won’t change that much I guess. A better servo would be too cool other than that Traxxas may not need to change a lot. Xmaxx is durable and just get the job done. You will never repair as much as on arrma cars
I truly can’t remember what I did but I always put it in my videos on the max v2 I didn’t run backflips on my v1 I did and should be the same gearing I listed in that series 🤔
They’re not much bigger heavier than stock , I had them on my maxx with the stock gearing , especially now in winter if your on the east coast stock gearing is fine , I just realized last night I could gear up if I wanted to because I have smaller truggy wheels and always cold out now , outside temps play big part especially the maxx has a decent fan and heat sink .
@@RcPlayer-tt2vw the backflips are taller and balloons way more then the maxx stock tires I just can’t remember the gearing I was running at that time 😳maybe stock 🤷🏻♂️
@@earlmoorhead5555 oh he did write 4s , I think he meant the smaller guys , the LPs which I think are good but they are a little bigger than the maxx stock wheels 🛞
The Xmaxx ultimate is for people who never had one and they are thinking of getting one for the first time like myself, it's not for those who already have one, so if you already have one just enjoy it.
I’ve owned several as plastic does have a lifetime in the plastics I’ll replace the whole rc after 5years and sell off the working xmaxx thats worn out with slop in them, to replace all the plastic wouldn’t be worth the cost of a new one and as dorc shows these upgrades at $500.00 are more then you could build it for 💯even better with better parts for the same money but if this xmaxx is something anyone wants I feel let them have fun at least there getting a good rc 💯
The XRT and Sledge clipless system is far superior to anything out there. I ordered the Orange XMaxx and it was on backorder. My LHS sells out pretty frequently even being 10 years old. I can't be bothered with worrying about Traxxas or arrma or whoever"'s business analysis or marketing plans, I buy what I like and run it. I keep this simple and drama-free. Either i like it and find use for it for my purposes, or i dont get that particular product. Simple is as simple does.
I dont think they put much thought into it like you said just went to the parts department and said whats the "cool" things some people are doing.. An they call it the Ultimate.. Humm not what i thought it was going to be.. Well always look forward to you thoughts... keep bashing bro..
My lhs guru told me he could sell me that aluminum steering link but wouldn’t because I had all the other aluminum parts on maxx v2… and I thank him for that … it’s a cheap easy fix weak point
afew peeps have had trouble with aluminium parts of late like even kev has been saying about it that a few been getting sloppy of late am guessing some are getting bad moulding like as a different product i seen a few computer chairs braking on there main frames so some aluminium company is doing some sloppy moulding like some looking like they have air bubbles along where the joints broken
@@whatsintheboxx A XMaxx is 999, and this is 1499. Unless I'm missing something that is pretty much 500 extra. (Or is the price on Traxxas' site more expensive than actual price?)
Traxxas' best move lately is the 2s brushless cars. Not so much for the new motor and esc but that they now come with the exterme heavy duty arms and axles. They have done some new models in the sledge and xrt. But ya, not interested in the xmaxx ultimate at all. It'll maybe make for some interesting youtube vids thats about it. I think they are testing the market to see how much people are willing to spend on an rc.
The motor in that new upgrade 2s the hobby shops been dealing with motors getting packed with sand dirt water with the wide open can it should have been sealed
It's one of the first upgrades. Traxxas should have done. Is changing those powder cheap gears they have on the truck. Another big upgrade. As you mentioned, Earl is those cheap electronics. For all the money, Traxxas charges for the X-Maxx. You would think they at least give you half decent electronics? No, Traxxas wants a big markup on the truck. With those cheap electronics, they put on it. And no, I won't be running out to buy this so-called, Limited X-Maxx. I'll let Kevin Talbot rush out and buy the entire stock. He seems to love everything, Traxxas.
@jakob9299 if you notice Kevin is still changing the rear bearing carriers to rpm even tho the traxxas one are upgraded and I’ve not yet had an issue with them now that the bigger bearings have been installed stock 🤔
DEFINITELY "novelty". I have a few thoughts on this, all of which come to the same conclusion - it's NOT worth it. 1) You can purchase the standard RTR, be "wise" in your upgrade decisions (as many have pointed out, Traxxas went (purposely???) 'overboard' in selecting upgrade parts), and sell off the brand-new no-longer-needed parts. In the end, you'll have an RC that's better than their 'Ultimate', and the final cost will be closer to $100-200 more than the standard RTR. 2) You can purchase a roller from an RC chop shop, be "wise" in your upgrade decisions, and end up with the same vehicle mentioned in option #1, but with a final cost that's equal to, or possibly slightly less than, the standard RTR. 3) Taking option #2 one step further, you could sell off the brand-new no-longer-needed parts, and end up with a final cost that's definitely less than the standard RTR. 4) Part of why Traxxas is probably doing this...and, as already pointed out by others...is that Traxxas probably has a large number of unsold 'upgrade' parts in their warehouse, which is probably due to the fact that most 3rd-party upgrade parts cost less than Traxxas' own upgrade parts and/or those 3rd-party parts are of higher quality (such as 7075 vs Traxxas 6061). 5) The final point has to do with something many have suspecting for several months - that Traxxas is going to soon be releasing a new version of the X-MAXX, based on the XRT chassis. This is a good way for Traxxas to 'unload' their excess of X-MAXX vehicles and/or upgrade parts. If you think about it, this, combined with point #4, makes a lot of logical sense.
I think adding some aluminum is gonna spell a disaster. Yes, I added aluminum Shock caps to Princess, the rebuilt stampede I think is bulletproof, but she is built with mostly plastic pieces. I wouldn't trust the "Revised" X-Maxx, and the price? My new wheelchair was close to that price, but it's built better and won't break if I sneeze. Buy the Non-revised r/c, save money.
My blue xmaxx had all these upgraded parts in aluminum not traxxas parts but parts I found at a good deal HR most of it other then the links it did great but took a max6 to really make it perform good 👍
Remember Earl I said that I was saving my money (not buying big rock) for one of the new releases coming out soon. I don’t think the new Xmaxx is it… I’m still waiting for the perfect one and I’m going to wait till you get through going through it soup to nuts before I buy it😳…
@@whatsintheboxx that’s funny… I WAS looking at that exact rig!! I’m waiting for Kev Talbot to finish with his so I know the weak spots prior to my purchase 🤙
@@whatsintheboxx losi is far bigger than the xmaxx but still, people like to shit on traxxas. U have this new option, u can take it or leave it... the original xmaxx is still there and there are also the maxx, the sledge, the hoss ans other smaller 1 10 bashers far cheaper and still durbale
@@whatsintheboxxBoth RCs you mentioned are “MUCH” better quality than any Traxxas RC. This video is about “Traxxas” Xmaxx. Besides that,I didn’t compare it to anything.Soooo🤷♂️
Of course, Traxxas wants you to BUY the roof skid...and many of us that just paid $1K will do it and they know it, so as a business why not? That's a lot of Extra Money for them.
They should have changed the body to a sledge like locking system. The aluminum parts are a waste of hard earned money, and belted tires defeat what a basher is made to do! And a $1500 price tag for parts you don’t really need. It’s just a money grab.
very mid release. They need to do something new soon for sure. The xrt was ok but not something that really changes things. I feel its hard to make new things in rc. Everything is sorta the same.
I was excited about both the ultimate xmaxx and XRT until I seen what it consisted of and the price $1,500 , that’s ridiculous. Personally I feel the upgrades I’ve done to my xmaxx and XRT make it way better then these ultimate editions yes they both look freak’n sweet with all the bling but I’m gonna pass and spend my money elsewhere
Huh earth has a gravitational pull from the earth spinning it’s not a theory it’s fact now as space travel shows weight has nothing to do with outer space 🤷🏻♂️are you home school?
@@earlmoorhead5555 Bless you Earl seems your a bit late to the party, ever since the internet has been a thing the theory of gravity has been completely ripped apart. Apparently this so called gravity can hold tons of water to a so called spinning ball but does nothing to insects and birds. Plus if the earth was spinning how can we get perfect mushroom clouds form like that? Space flight Earl? Look at the latest Indian moon landing footage and tell me with a straight face that that looks legit for 2023. 🤣 Luv you Earl ❤please dont be mad at me because im no longer a member of the spinning ball space monkey religion.
traxxas missed the boat... aarma created the exb with all the tougher parts at no extra cost they knew they built a truck u had to upgrade to get any life out of it... traxxas puts the upgraded parts that they should have done in the orignal truck and cost 5 hundred extra.. they sell a truck that needs a better servo and tires at a bare minimum the bling is cool but thats just bull . they should recall all the xmass/xrt and give them the upgraded tires and servo thats my 2 cents
I’d never buy the ultimate. Regular old xmaxx would be just fine for me. I still haven’t been able to even save $1000 for the regular xmaxx. There’s no way I’d buy one for 50% markup. A lot of those upgrades aren’t even necessary in my opinion. Pretty disappointed that this is what they dropped. Everyone is waiting for a new rc. We haven’t gotten it for a long time. Even the xrt is a modified version of an xmaxx not really a new rc. This ruined my Christmas for sure 😄

And DASSIT!
👍
As always enjoy your honest options.
They don't have a roofskin on the arrma kraton EXB 1/8 scale 6s that's stupid too
I’ll stick to my wide xmaxx.
There is a completely redesigned Xmaxx coming…this limited edition is just a money grab in the interim.
Can someone please explain, wouldn’t a heavier belted tire give you more rotation? What am I missing?
Tire needs to expand to get the rotation belted tires don’t expand much causing less rotation in the air
Hey Earl great video was wonderering what gearing do you recommand for bashing a standard Maxx v2 with arrma backflips 4s ?
@@earlmoorhead5555 that’s my mistake, I was thinking the LP s , I forgot all about the standard ones , I erase my comment . Sorry
Does it matter if the radio gets wet?
I dont think they put much thought into it like you said just went to the parts department and said whats the "cool" things some people are doing.. An they call it the Ultimate.. Humm not what i thought it was going to be.. Well always look forward to you thoughts... keep bashing bro..
My lhs guru told me he could sell me that aluminum steering link but wouldn’t because I had all the other aluminum parts on maxx v2… and I thank him for that … it’s a cheap easy fix weak point
They can copy because arrma doesn’t pay for patents , they may even borrowed from others
So which is better, xmaxx or xrt in your opinion?
For me the HCG chassis on the xmaxx is better for me
Guess depends on your driving style. You more the monstertruck guy or more into high speed and perfect stability
Why does my xmaxx keep eating Servos??
I think I bought a lemon..
afew peeps have had trouble with aluminium parts of late like even kev has been saying about it that a few been getting sloppy of late am guessing some are getting bad moulding like as a different product i seen a few computer chairs braking on there main frames so some aluminium company is doing some sloppy moulding like some looking like they have air bubbles along where the joints broken
For an extra $500 it feels a bit much. Plus calling it limited. How limited? If it’s for collectors then number them.
Definitely not on my buy list.
It’s not 500 it’s 300 extra !!
@@earlmoorhead5555 Packed with sand! Argh thats a pain. Good info 👍
Facts everything you said ! Talbot literally changes everything on the all his traxxas cars even he knows there all shitty parts and electronics lmao
Getting an (ultimate)XMaxx and they didn’t give you a roof skid😳
Thanks 🙏
I think adding some aluminum is gonna spell a disaster. Yes, I added aluminum Shock caps to Princess, the rebuilt stampede I think is bulletproof, but she is built with mostly plastic pieces. I wouldn't trust the "Revised" X-Maxx, and the price? My new wheelchair was close to that price, but it's built better and won't break if I sneeze. Buy the Non-revised r/c, save money.
My blue xmaxx had all these upgraded parts in aluminum not traxxas parts but parts I found at a good deal HR most of it other then the links it did great but took a max6 to really make it perform good 👍
@@earlmoorhead5555 I get ya.
Remember Earl I said that I was saving my money (not buying big rock) for one of the new releases coming out soon. I don’t think the new Xmaxx is it… I’m still waiting for the perfect one and I’m going to wait till you get through going through it soup to nuts before I buy it😳…
If you want a big and tanky rc check out the dbxle 2.0. I love mine
@@whatsintheboxx that’s funny… I WAS looking at that exact rig!! I’m waiting for Kev Talbot to finish with his so I know the weak spots prior to my purchase 🤙
If anything, revised. I wouldn’t use Traxxas hop ups if they were free. 1500$ is ridiculous for any toy.Not worth it at all!
Losi 5t is even more expensive. Primal Raminator costs you like 4000 and no one complains about that
@@whatsintheboxx losi is far bigger than the xmaxx but still, people like to shit on traxxas.
I have two x-maxxs like those tires . The price 💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵👀 I'm good.
I agree 😱😳
The number 23 on the BMX bike = 33 for Freemasonry.
They should have changed the body to a sledge like locking system. The aluminum parts are a waste of hard earned money, and belted tires defeat what a basher is made to do! And a $1500 price tag for parts you don’t really need. It’s just a money grab.
Now Traxxas will come out with belted tires for the sledge then we're going to be in business
I’ll
Stick w my maxx v2
Can’t compare the Maxx with the xmaxx. Drivewise very different
“ultimate” not limited. Its goign to be over 2000$ here in canada cant believe people will buy this
I mentioned I was calling it limited as that what traxxas said it’s limited in numbers
Bruh@@earlmoorhead5555
Bruh....My email says : 2024 Limited edition xmaxx ultimate@EXTREMERC416
very mid release. They need to do something new soon for sure. The xrt was ok but not something that really changes things. I feel its hard to make new things in rc. Everything is sorta the same.
Yes I agree they need a all new model
I was excited about both the ultimate xmaxx and XRT until I seen what it consisted of and the price $1,500 , that’s ridiculous. Personally I feel the upgrades I’ve done to my xmaxx and XRT make it way better then these ultimate editions yes they both look freak’n sweet with all the bling but I’m gonna pass and spend my money elsewhere
Gravity is a THEORY Earl not a fact. Things fall because of weight.
😎💯💯💯
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤thank you
ราคามันแพงเกินไปที่จะซื้อ มันเทียบเท่ากับราคามอเตอร์ไซHondaเลย😂😂😂😂
Depending on where you live 🫣
aw ya
traxxas missed the boat... aarma created the exb with all the tougher parts at no extra cost they knew they built a truck u had to upgrade to get any life out of it... traxxas puts the upgraded parts that they should have done in the orignal truck and cost 5 hundred extra.. they sell a truck that needs a better servo and tires at a bare minimum the bling is cool but thats just bull . they should recall all the xmass/xrt and give them the upgraded tires and servo
thats my 2 cents
I’d never buy the ultimate. Regular old xmaxx would be just fine for me. I still haven’t been able to even save $1000 for the regular xmaxx. There’s no way I’d buy one for 50% markup. A lot of those upgrades aren’t even necessary in my opinion. Pretty disappointed that this is what they dropped. Everyone is waiting for a new rc. We haven’t gotten it for a long time. Even the xrt is a modified version of an xmaxx not really a new rc. This ruined my Christmas for sure 😄
I am the demographic for this truck. Once again they had me close to buying one. Nope. Still takes up too much room for a toy.
✌️
Xmaxx or outcast.........
