- Hello folks! Today I will restore the dagger Stiletto. I bought it at a flea market. I found it among old rusty tools. (this is not the flea market where I often record videos). The blade surprisingly turned out not to be broken, the handle apparently just dried up because it was made of old plastic, in my opinion. Well, let's start restoring the dagger!
The first duty, I took it apart. I threw out the broken parts, and left the whole ones and the guard. The blade was placed in a rust remover. After washing, dried and began to sanding. The blade guard was sanded with fine-grained sandpaper, it turned out to be in good condition.
The handle of the stiletto is made of their leather, brass and mahogany. But the handle was obtained only from the third time. The sheath for the dagger stiletto I made of wood, processed on a lathe. Covered with thin natural leather. I did not make the tip of the scabbard because I had a product that I had previously bought at a flea market. I also made a suspension from thicker leather so that I could wear a stiletto on my belt Well, as always, the test is for you.

You did an awesome job bringing this back to life. You are an incredible artist. The way you can take these items that others would disregard and repurpose them into your restorations is just brilliant. I especially love how you reinforce the original broken scabbards with cardboard. It’s just beautiful.

@@ScrewsAndTools Да нормальный рынок, это живая история и старина, оружие которое так близко ни водном музее не увидишь. Там шашки кинжалы ножи. Смотрю и думаю ну как старые мастера делали такие работы у них же не было современных электрических и других качественных инструментов?!!! Мельчайшая чеканка работа по серебру и прочее.
Понимаю вас, я порой сам задумываюсь как это делали. Не знаю, ответа не на хожу, особенно когда в старых книгах смотрю инструменты мастеров. Особенно чернение и травление, сейчас да делают, но вот ну не то оно хоть ты тресни не то. Кстати у нас в Грузии, признают, что большая часть секретов ковки оружия утерянна.

It looks like a left hand parrying dagger for fencing. I had a foil with a similar handle construction that I picked up from a yard sale in the 1980's.

Second video of yours I’ve come across. Admittedly I was skeptical because tons of fake restoration videos that have popped up.But seems like you genuinely sourced your items from those bad ass flea markets you have over there. Keep it real it’s more satisfying to watch.

@@ScrewsAndTools I will. I might add another source of restoring could be getting in touch with people who metal detect. I do that as a hobby and its probably what gave me a decent eye on spotting fake Rust. Those hobbyist probably like me have dozens of rusted Axes, Knifes sitting away .
