    Also, the larger the unit, the more chances it has of having a security breach. Plus, you have to supply them all, train them all, pay them all. Sometimes, smaller groups work better together than big groups.

    Spetznaz conducted the operation to rescue the hostages in the theatre siege in Moscow, 129 hostages died. That's a great way of conveying to the world we are the best. In no other rescue attempt has so many hostages died.

    They did develop many CT tactics. However, a lot of that was rewritten not only by other units specific AO, roles and capabilities,but also by the S.A.S. itself. In fact, all tactics are continuously re-written by all units in every facet of military operations. And most direct-action(DA)tactics were developed by SEALs in Vietnam(also re-written)and then more recently in Desert Storm, and then SEALs totally re-wrote the book on urban warfare in Iraq in recent years.

    It's one of those things you think about and come to a realization they haven't seen much combat. I wouldn't know, none of us could say how much since it's special operations and they keep the lids tight on those. I just remeber they played the biggest role in the Iran/Embasy incodent, Argo was losely based on for the final days of what was over a month struglle for the escapees. Canada was in the drivers seat and they used specail forces and we the U.S. thanked them for all they did.

  • @timtim7505
    @timtim7505 12 лет назад

    haha well I wasn't expecting an answer as in-depth as that but I definitely get your point. I will say I'm surprised the SEAL's didn't even get a mention in here as they are one of the best. 1st or 2nd I don't think it really matters to them, as long as they do the job and get home safe its still a job well done for them. Kudos to all the guys out there at the moment fighting for their country irrespective of their units.

  • @FenrisWolf8
    @FenrisWolf8 12 лет назад

    Another thing that separates SEALs from the rest is the fact that they can operate from any platform, in any environment, at any time, almost completely independent of any outside influence. Although SEAL/DEVGRU fall under SOCOM, they are controlled by NAVSPECWARCOM, which operates independently from the other SOCOM units, and needs no further authorization from above. If a mission is handed to them, they choose when, where, and how of their own accord, and need not wait for the 'green light'.

    The S.A.S. as we know it today was not officially founded until the 50s. The US Navy Scouts and Raiders were formed in 1941 and the U.D.T. in '42, which was the beginning of the S.E.A.L.s. The Scouts and Raiders, UDT, and 1st SAS were formed pretty much in coordination with each other and exchanged knowledge, but those units were much different than the units they laid the ground-work for that we now know as SAS and SEALs. But both were disbanded after WW2 and went through significant changes.

  • @FenrisWolf8
    @FenrisWolf8 12 лет назад

    Having said that, most basic tactics really dont differ too much from unit to unit, theres only so many ways to shoot, maneuver, use cover etc. What separates each unit is their selection process, and amount of time training. In this aspect, SEAL selection and training is unarguably they most intense! Hell, DEVGRUs ammunition resource is equal to the entire U.S. Marine Corps, and there is only estimated to be 200-250 active duty DEVGRU operators at any given time! Thats alot of shooting!

They have a strong background and the strongest Kill to Death ratio of most major spe ops groups, but have ur opinion.

    Currency GIGN: Saving lives in defiance of his own. "
    December 26, 1994 release of the 164 passengers of Flight 8969 Flight AF taken hostage by four GIA terrorists. The GIGN stormed the aircraft, landed at the airport of Marignane near Marseille, and managed to kill four terrorists and save the hostages without loss side but with eleven policemen injured at various levels . The attack was filmed by television, and the group became famous worldwide.

    This should be
    5.Green berret
    4.Ranger
    3.SAS
    2.Navy SEAL
    1.Delta force
    And the reason i put Delta first is the navy seals have never trained as basic Infantryman. Delta picks peaple from the army mostly which have been trained to be infantryman and i think that lack of training in the basics makes the SEALs less effective.

    Socom is all us military spec ops. Plus there needs to be many others. All spec ops and spec forces are mostly even, they all have different missions. Delta and Sas are good at raids and counter terrorism. Spetsnaz can take pain. Seals and SBS are the best in the water. Royal Marines and Force recon are very good amphibious groups. Green Berets and Marsoc are awesome survivalists, and groups like Grom and the Rangers can blow a lotta crap up. There are also many other groups as well.

But yer definitely right, all units from all branches sacrifice for their countries and deserve the utmost respect and gratitude!

    1) The RUC were not a military organisation, they were a police force (admittedly the only force in the UK that routinely carried firearms, but still a civilian organisation).
    2) Natively recruited regiments like the Royal Irish Rangers and Ulster Defense Regiment were still part of the British Army.

    And back to where people take the piss with GIGN, yes it origins from France, but the reason it's NOT French specifically (never believe CoD) is because it's a Global Special Forces, meaning it's built up of smaller countries who don't have there own Special Forces. This ,kiddies, is also why GIGN is not included in Medal Of Honor Warfighter.

    Almost all special forces are based on the Britsish SAS model. A lot of these countries special forces are also trained through or with the SAS. Therefore almost every special forces unit in the world are ultimate badasses who are quite identical. But dont compare the NAVY SEALS with the French GIGN for example... For the Seals are obviously a naval special forces unit and are deployed for different missions.
