Original was raw, this is polished. Both have their charm, but the original sounds right. My favorite track has always been Silhouette, it’s way better on the original.
Man that's why I love your content so much, I'm gen z so I got into metal in 2019 and discovered through your channel bands that the scene don't seem to talk about a lot like this or TDH and find it so refreshing and appealing musically, never heard of this album before, but jeeez it kicks ass
This band has had the biggest influence on me as a musician and music lover. So ahead of their time. Dustin’s vocals are unmatched. The way he sings high notes with rasp so they sound low until you try to sing them is crazy and the odd time signatures they play in a way that makes them feel so natural. Can’t say enough
I’m an early Thrice fan and don’t care for their new sound, but I think its great that they’re acknowledging their old work. I hope they do this with Vheissu, that album will always hold a special place in my heart
This is truly what I wish they would revisit. It's as if they were ahead of themselves in their own timeline with Vheissu; it'd be much more fitting now for how they've evolved as a band.
I've seen Thrice alot (my fav too) and they've played alot of these live here and there over the years. Still, I really enjoyed the revisit and am thankful we got it and a upcoming tour.
i love it, its just them playing it like they would live these days and having the current dustins voice adding so much more depth to the clean vocals compared to the originals adds a ton imo super excited for the tour theyre doing on this and playing it in full especially having such an incredible band like holy fawn opening funnily enough i found holy fawn from them opening for thrice on the vheissu 15 year tour so its all coming full circle for me
One of those albums that will stick with me until death. Sounds like the slower parts of the songs are possibly better than originals. Overall production value sounds amazing. I agree with you that I hope Thrice revisits these sounds.
I go to look up silhouette and seen the newer version uploaded 1hr ago i was so confused, 20 years latter and like you i was blown away even showed it to my buddy and it brought him back as well this album ment alot to so many people.
Its like if Thrice decided to become a cover band and cover nothing else but Thrice. I think I have seen Thrice at least 10 times live now. June 1st Brooklyn Steel!!! Can't wait!!!
It's interesting to hear the album with Dustin's current vocal intonation. As some people have already said, it sounds more like their live shows, because Teppei and Ed's backing vocals are higher in the mix. Can't wait to see them again this year. This time my 18 year old daughter is coming with me.
@chiefbeanus3224 Fantastic! As always. They are super-tight live; always have been. I was shocked (in a good way) that Dustin's voice sounded more like the original AitA era. They played the entire album, plus 'Motion Isn't Meaning' and some tracks off Illusion of Safety, Vheissu, actually... pretty much all their albums bar Identity Crisis.
I’ve been caught up in the train of following the more popular songs in the Metalcore and Deathcore scene that I forgot how much I enjoyed the hardcore punk and post hardcore scene. Back then I didn’t care about what was popular, I just cared about what I enjoyed myself. This revisited album reminded me of those good old years. The Artist in the ambulance will always have a special place in my heart ❤️
In interviews they often talk about how they weren’t happy with the production on this album. I guess if they were gonna re-record a record, this was gonna be it. Great tunage. Sick move too, I’ve never heard of a band revisiting an entire record.
I’ve gone this revisit album 4 times today. Legit. Love it and what it is just as much as the first time. What a underrated band and album. 6:20 is my fav for the changes! Love these guys with all my soul!
Sad I missed this stream. This was a surprise I was not ready for and immediately bought my ticket for the tour. Captures the original album so well while keeping it feeling fresh and to their live standards. It’s been on repeat since release and not stopping anytime soon.
Can’t imagine how you felt seeing this release, they are way up on my list but you had to be insanely hype. Killing moon, paper tigers, and ABOLITION OF MAN especially are such classics. Can’t believe they did this.
Birb, I was pumped to see this video! Definitely took the long way to and from work for this album today. Easily one of my absolute favourite albums of all time much like yourself. First time commenter but long time viewer! Cheers!
I'm pretty sure I'm almost the exact age as Metalbirb because I had the EXACT same reaction to this album. My most listened to album of my life. I love it with the same passion.
Got my tickets for June 23rd! Just saw them about a month ago for the illusion of safety tour they did! It was so amazing! Been listening to them since about 2007. My all time favorite band as well!
You're the only one who acculy did a good review of this monster revisited version....still this days its in my top 3 favorite album...thx by the way....thrice are so underrated...
dude i cannot stress this enough you NEEEEEEEEED to check out holy fawn they are an S tier band. a mix of doom metal and shoegaze their music is absolutely gorgeous
I've been rep'in Thrice hard since my buddy joey in high school (02) gave me a bootleg copy of Identity Crisis. i was a broke ass lad in high school, and yes since then I've bought every bit of their music. Vheissu to me is still one of their greatest transformations..
This was one of those bands where they only had 1 album that stuck with me, and it was Artist in the Ambulance. This is super cool and maybe having this new twist on this album will help me get into their other work
I discovered them right after high school with their "Vheissu" album. Artist in the ambulance has some really good songs, my brother and I saw them back in 2018 and they played a good show. Might have to go seem them again for the dose of nostalgia.

Broo love hearing that! And the fact that you brought up The Dear Hunter too, hell yeah man. You got great taste!
Same here!
You need to listen to their whole catalog. You have some homework to do. Vheissu is their magnum opus.
Yeah, especially as he matured. It's almost as if it's a harmonic between his vocal fry and his natural tone.
I just love how Teppei has his guitar sounding like an ambulance siren on Artist in the Ambulance.
Teppei is a sorcerer
I’m an early Thrice fan and don’t care for their new sound, but I think its great that they’re acknowledging their old work. I hope they do this with Vheissu, that album will always hold a special place in my heart
Interesting that you're not a fan of their latest sound, but that's where the change distinctly started, which alienated a lot of their original fans.
Vheissu was the perfect mix of old and new Thrice, I think. I don't think it alienated many, most fans grew and caught up eventually.@@Ronnock
its so good to see how much you love this album
I still listen to this album front to back on a regular basis. Now I just listen to this version. They did a great job with this.
Can’t wait for the Vheissu re-recording.
Same, Vheissu was my first album from them. "Atlantic" is such a haunting song and they play it really well live too.

Thrice and Alexisonfire are 2 of my favorites. But Thursday will always be my number one. All super good though!
Mine too. Seeing them both live this year. Alexisonfire this month and Thrice in September.

Is it crazy that when I was 15, silhouette was my least favourite song on the album.
At 35, it gives me fucking goosebumps
I’ve seen some negative reaction to this remake but I gotta be honest, I absolutely love it. I love how thrice has evolved over the years.
How? It's an extra take to a fantastic record. More the merrier! Hell I'd love a reimagined slow version cause why not haha
