- The Heart Attack Grill restaurant was founded in 2005 in Tempe, Arizona by former health nut and personal trainer Jon Basso. He not only owned several fitness studios and Jenny Craig franchises, but he used to preach to everyone he knew about weight loss.
- If you weigh 350 lbs or more then you will be able to eat for free! With that said, if you weigh 349 lbs or less, then you will have to pay for your meal.
- Plenty of jokes about having a heart attack at the Heart Attack Grill go around for obvious reasons. However, several deaths have actually been tied to the restaurant.
- At the Heart Attack Grill, if you are a vegan or a vegetarian, the only thing you could order from the restaurant that has nothing to do with meat or animal fat are cigarettes. Yes, cigarettes are on the menu.
- The Quadruple Bypass Burger is no longer the worst item on the Heart Attack Grill menu. That crown goes to the Octuple Bypass, which, as the name implies, has nearly the double the amount of calories as the Quadruple Bypass Burger!
- If you hear of someone being spanked for not finishing their meal, you would automatically think it was the 1950s and Timmy didn’t eat his broccoli! That "Doctor" guy is an absolute genius. I watched a few videos where he is talking to people. He often talks in a way like "Yeah, you know, this will kill you, but hey, it tastes good right now, so it's worth it" more or less. It's something a critic of the restaurant would say in a cynical, sarcastic manner, but the owner says it completely straight-faced. In one video, one customer jokes around, saying something like that he probably won't be alive for much longer, to which the owner comments something along the line of "Ahhh, not before we can squeeze out a bit more profit out of you." It's like... If someone wanted to make a caricature of evil corporate capitalism and the stereotypical bad American junk food; they could not try to be more obvious in their point.
And the fact that they have a "vegan" section on the menu; but then it's actually just cigarettes... To even come up with that, and go with it, and get away with it, too.
He really is like a real-life supervillian. And I have to say, I find what he does and says a million times more honest and in a way respectable then when you have some regular fast food restaurant, making a point like "Oh, but our food isn't all bad, see, we also have salads" etc. This guy on the other hand outright says, honestly, "Yeah, if you come and eat here, you are basically killing yourself." and somehow, the restaurant still works, and people are going there, quite many, as it seems.
I'm just in shock and awe here.
That's the idea. To scare people into eating right. Reverse psychology.

first time I went to Vegas was last year and I made sure to stop here just for the experience xD I intentionally didn't finish my food ;) my dad loved their chili and ofc the waitresses lol I loved the gowns. while we where there someone weighed over 400 and ate for free! he ordered that reallyyyyy tall burger and ate it all by himself!

@@lerrell123 okay so the potato bun was very soft and it wasnt warm so if you like crispy fluffy buns you might not like it. every single burger has chili on it and theyre pretty good size. the bugers are about a 6/10 on flavor and texture. its really for the atmosphere and the novelty- ill probably never go again haha its just something to cross of the busket list! very happy with my experience cx

My advice for anyone thinking of going there is that you’ll be fine as long as you order smart. A normal burger (1 patty), fries, and a sugary soda or milkshake one time during the week is not going to hurt you. Chances are you won’t finish everything anyway. Just avoid the 8-patty burger and anything else super excessive like that.
As long as I can get a carryout box for my leftovers (I am paying for this food after all), which would likely be lunch the next day; I will gladly take the spanking.
I'm not American so I've never been there but I have a friend who did and they said they couldn't even finish the fries lol.
I think if it was permitted in my religion I could finish the quadruple option.
I have high appetite and although I never did competitive eating I can easily eat a lot if I wanted to.
I am almost athletic as well 🙃.

If that's your biggest worry about this restaurant, you have a problem.
The guy simply realized people want to kill themselves with food rather than live long and healthy lives and opted for making a business out of it. So many of us have adult eating habits that were influenced by foods and cooking methods from childhood. The idea of eating venison or bushmeat is revolting to me, and I never do boil-in-a-bag dinners or instant potatoes/rice. My parents used butter or vegetable oil instead of lard or shortening. The first time a man cooked for me I was shocked; he made fried potatoes and used close to half a tub of Crisco. I kept staring at the frying pan while he explained he'd learned from his Midwestern mother and aunt. But I know people who would say I'm terrible for eating meat (albeit twice a week, if that) or using vegetable oil instead of canola or olive for frying. The portion sizes at the Grill are obscene.
Actually this restaurant inspired me to lose weight I was almost 400 pounds I stepped on the scale now 275

This restaurant actually kick started my diet. I went in the summer of 2018 and weighted in at 345. I was just fat enough to be upset but not fat enough for free food haha. When I left Vegas I got to work and I'm currently at 275
