Hello Cryptonites! Hope you enjoy this perfectly "fowl" story from 1934 by L.A. Lewis, wonderful author of "Lost Keep" and "The Meerschaum Pipe", found in his aptly titled "Tales of the Grotesque". CONTENT ADVICE: 🦃 Disturbing scenes 📢 A loud noise.

That mental anguish is no joke; it's a bane of my existence from child abuse. I feel terrible for anyone who suffers it.

I knew I hated a white leghorn rooster we had when I was 14 for a reason!
He was one big, vicious bird who used to flog my poor horse's rump as she dozed in the shade and spured me through a riding boot badly enough to need two lauers of stitches. He managed to cut into the periosteum between the muscle fascia and my ankle bone in one swipe of his spur.
The ER doc was surprised at how the injury occurred as he was unaware of how fast, strong and determined a "mere" chicken could be.
That rooster would also fly at my face from the rafters of our barn.
I'd never been able to catch him to clip his wings for two years. When I finally had him I took him to a neighbor who had bantams and wanted ours for a sparring partner.
I was prepared to behead him but Ma said no.
I was told he earned his keep. 😅
