I'm so glad you enjoyed the music. On a technical note, it's not strictly flat picking. Years ago I saw Richard thompson in concert and I saw how he used a plectrum between his thumb and index finger but also used his other free fingers to pick the strings. It was a big AHAH moment. You can have a flatpicking style without having to spend years working on crazy precision with the plectrum! Thompson has taken it much further than me and can strum chords and bass with the plectrum and pick out melody with his fingers at the same time 😮 but that's another matter...

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with us once again. I like to think I am of an 'egalitarian' nature. I truly believe women are equal to men and that needs to be acknowledged as well as manifest in societies and cultures. No doubt women are still greatly oppressed all over the world and in so many societies. Truly the oppression, degradation and abuse women endure is not only shocking (to me at least - hopefully to most others as well) but morally contemptuous. Thank you also for sharing your herbal knowledge and wonderful video views of your garden, home and rural neighbourhood. Here too, May and into June has on the cooler, wetter side. Still though gardens here are full of beautiful blooms, plentiful herbs and growing vegetables. Have a wonderful summer where you are. Take care. Cheers!

Your message is so powerful Terri! I think more women are finally standing up & together with each other. More than i ever remember in my life. Not looking at each other as needing to compete. But, looking at each other as beautiful, powerful people. Regardless of our age or occupation or background & so on. We have to!
Why some men feel so threatened by us. It is sad & disgusting. Those type of men do not deserve to have ANY woman in their lives. They r not worthy.

Actually I was in tears beforehand, from finding very valuable information in your Volume 1 weed book. I feel I have the power to save my dog, and it came from you!. On Friday, he was bleeding from a huge cyst/tumor/growth from his back left side. It was small a week ago when Dean groomed him. The vet wants to operate for $3000.00 but says it may come back. The plantain plant in your book stood out when I read it last year, so much so, that I found one and put it in a pot, so I'd have more. Now I can make poultices and put them on Blue's growth. It is seeping with some blood,, the size of an orange. It was the blood that alerted Dean. Blue is very hairy and the vet shaved all his hair off the area. He is on anti biotics, which I don't agree with, but Dean does.

Sunday, I went to a full moon ceremony called Despacho, where flowers, and seeds are gifted to nature. The ceremony originated in the Andes, with the shamans. I thought of you and how much you would have enjoyed it. Now to locate St. John's Wort seeds to grow. Happy Summer Solstice to you and yours Terri. A candle will have to do here, as there are so many intermittent, and necessary fire bans in many of the provinces. Currently we do not have such a ban in Ontario, but so many of the western provinces do. It will be a candle here, as a show of support for those who cannot have open fires. ... I am sure there are. From what I have read and experienced, Companion planting is an inexact science because there are so many other variables - type of soil, climate, micro-climate etc. Definitely is worth trying xx

I wholeheartedly agree with what you said. And what you said about surrogacy particularly was really new to me and I had not thought about that before. It is like renting women and their fertility, and in the case of surrogacy it often (not always the case I'm sure - there are always exceptions) means wealthier people exploiting poorer people and in that circumstance is it any different from organ selling? I understand the strong desire some people have burning in them for children and their anguish when they can't so seek surrogacy (even if I myself don't have that desire) , but stepping back and considering the moral dynamic of your choice, of the circumstance and position of the proposed surrogate and weather you are seeking a child to love them unconditionally (in that case adoption of a child in need seems an ideal match) or if your motivation is more ego-driven and thus some kind of need to procreate your own genes.
And I have friends, and friends whose kids, want to be referred to as "they/them". I apologize ahead of time and ask if I can just then call them by their name. The "they/them" thing, besides being grammatically wrong and confusing in print, to me is dehumanizing and just one small step above "it". People are not "it"s (nor are animals btw, I never refer to an animal as "it"!). I care for my friends and their children and want them to be more humanized always, never less humanized. Maybe it's because, especially currently, but this is common to all past ugly populist/autocratic people , the ugliest of our politics throw out unidentified evil "they" -s and "them" -s and "those" -es (it's even hard to correctly write about/punctuate it here!?!?) as tools to demonize and repress others. So it for me is just too difficult to do. Plus as the world seems to be burning (arguably literally) this focus on semantic identities (he, she, or they, them, BIPOC or black or Af-Am, Latino or LatinX, Homeless or houseless or unhoused, etc. etc. etc.) is sucking up the energy and mental space that would be better spent in other tangible ways to support and move forward those communities and the crazy focus, time and energy spent on semantic arguments just plays into the hands of those who wish to actively repress those groups.
Anyway, rant over. And I wish to all beings, human, animal, male, female, old, young, gay, straight, trans, whatever ethnicity or religion or beliefs.....a beautiful summer filled with joy and fulfillment!!!
Mike that is a lovely end to your rant and I agree wholeheartedly - joy and fulfilment for all. I also agree with your view about semantics (the nonsensical grammar drives me mad!) and I hadn't thought of this being one step above "it". I don't use that for animals or for plants either. I think you are right about all the identities current today - the eggshells if you use the wrong one😟!! - being divisive because such things create more opportunity to give offense. We are being tricked into saying less and less and this policy makes people less able to state their opinion. I am feeling hopeful despite everything and I think one day soon all will be well. I love your show. This is the first time watching you and you are right on the mark with the women issues. I am not a woman’s liver I used to be, but I believe women should be treated as women and respectfully, and there are only two sexes that’s male and female.

Thank you for this video! The St. John’s Wort is huge this year, along with Fever Few, so I’m harvesting daily trying to fill every jar with tea bags, oils, honey infusions and dried herbs. We’re in a heatwave that’s exhausting my energy, but my tea blends that I’ve created are helping balance my mood and relieve inflammation.
Danu, I took some St. John's Wort for slight depression and I got a little rash in the fold of my elbow, so I thought I was allergic. Is that true?

just a question , I was listening too a debate in the Seanad about the surrogacy bill ( I think that is the right name for it ) in which a man was objecting to it and a woman was strongly agree to it , what do you think of this ? I did look at the links below to see what Ireland is doing in regards to equity. I don't see anything that relates to current laws? And I googled policies regarding women in Ireland but did not get anything recent. That whole idea about inclusive language or exclusive, depending on how you think about it, will fade away. It's such an interesting idea to think that parts of the Year have a representative goddess. Thank you for giving me a lot to think about! 💚

Trans people are just trying to get on with their lives without being beaten up, they are not eroding womanhood or motherhood or attacking women’s rights, despite a certain social media algorithm depicting it this way. Dear David, neighbour. Please watch the video again. I have not promoted anything. I receive regular emails asking me to promote products and whatever and I never and never will, promote anything or any view that is not my own. I have not mentioned anything about transpeople, I am talking about the experiences that biological women are enduring, witnessing and hearing about. do you not remember our referendum from a few weeks ago? I have no problem with trans people and I hope they can get on with their lives in peace. I do not see anyone beating anyone up - in fact in Clifden, a tiny town, there are a number of transpeople and no one bats an eye. Unfortunately there are some people who ARE actively attempting to erode womanhood and motherhood. Perhaps if you were a woman you would be more aware of this.

In the current political climate, the particular terms I quoted in my last comment are dog whistles often used by those looking to restrict the rights of trans people to healthcare and public spaces.
I’m not a woman and I won’t pretend to understand misogyny first hand. While each form of prejudice has its own particular nuances, though, I think women and queer people ultimately have more in common than not. We share a similar struggle and a common oppressor: the patriarchal structures of society. I hope we can work together to make things better for all of us, rather than squabbling amongst ourselves as the patriarchy would like.

WE are living in a very toxic political climate and I think there are many "dog whistles" being blown at the moment that we need to resist if we seriously want to make life good for everyone. Live and let live should be a simple rule to follow but that rarely seems to be the case . Patriarchy is definitely oppressive to all but the psychopathic I sometimes think, it doesn't encourage good behaviour. Anyway, lets hope that as things get worse, positive change will be triggered xx
