    This engine makes a rowing boat go pretty fast. I'd say in kilometers it goes 6-10 km/h (that's around 3.7-6.2 mph)

    • @red2g
      @red2g 4 года назад +2

      You'd be lucky to get up to 5 mph. I had a 55 lbs and could get my inflatable up to 5 mph, but you can't do it for long if you have only 1 battery. Best to stay around 60 percent throttle.

      Minn Kota states they all max out around 5mph if the motor you have has enough power to weight ratio. The hull shape of your boat also comes into play. No way the 30lb thrust can push anything at 6 mph.

    thank you for this short video on MK30. i just bought one for $109. i got a deep cycle lithium battery because it's light weight. not sure how long this will run. of course i'm not using for long distance trolling, maybe few hundred yards. how long will the battery last before running out? i know depends on the wind and water current. i have a Aquarius twin pontoon with alum platforms bolt with screws and connecting plates. one great part is the pontoon can be disassembled, not taking too much garage space. i will make a larger platform later.

    • @4shorefishing779
      @4shorefishing779  2 года назад

      That’s awesome congrats! There are many variables to tell how long it will last. One depends on the size of your battery as well. You can bring a battery meter with you to be able to tell how long it will last. Have fun out there!

    • @4shorefishing779
      @4shorefishing779  2 года назад

      @@4shorefishing779 i had a 14' PORTA BOTE with 55 thrust MK; used the interstate deep cycle. it was very difficult to handle this foldable boat due to the material. set up was even cumbersome. i sold the bote and the MK motor and kept the battery. now i have a 12v 50amp lithium deep cycle for this twin Aquarius pontoon. i haven't test it out yet, waiting for the 12V C2 30 MT motor. it should be sufficient for my need on the river bank, staying close to shore. that's where the fish like.

      i just saw a different Trolling motor on youtube from England. this one has a propeller housing that gives even more thrust. i retired from the major airlines overhauled all types jet engine from CFM56 on 737 to PW4090 0n 777. exhaust duct is the major thrust provider as you notice the divergent duct. i'm thinking making and using sheet metal enclose the propeller outer area shape it in divergent casing, like the jet ski output. it will not restrict the water entry but creates more water mass pushing through it instead splashing outward as the propeller spin. you can see how much thrust is lost when the water is splashing outward instead direct through the housing duct. i will upload youtube video see this will create more thrust and modifying the platform, not putting extra weight.

    hello again Jake, i need to know the battery wire gage from the MK to the battery. i got a quick disconnect battery cable connectors.the cable from the motor will go on one end and the new extended cable will go to the battery into the quick-disconnector. i could check the wire strand before i order online, just a 6 footer should do for my Aquos twin pontoon. by the way i fixed the slow leak on pontoon. it was only one side, the other side has no leak. here how i saw someone did on youtube: air up the pontoon, use provided wrench to loosen. once is loosened you can deflate pontoon . caution, there is a PVC piece you have to make sure not fall off when the internal halve is loosened. i would use a piece of tape to keep it from falling into the pontoon bottom. now clean out two seals try not to take them out or you can overstretch them. use clean water to wipe out dirt. if you can rotate the seals that will help clean even better. add a thick coat of vaseline as much as you can on both seals and turn so the vaseline gets into the bottom. reassemble the valve into the other halve. make sure is not cross threaded. once is fully screwed in, inflate the pontoon to make a quarter turn so the seals are seated. use soapy water to check for leak. inflate it fully and let it set couple days. this work great for minor leak on valve. thanks for your video. bob

We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite

      If your state requires licencing your boat as a motor boat if it has an electric motor, then yes. The brand or thrust doesn't matter. It's a trolling motor and all of them are treated the same as far as licencing goes.

    Sounds like his prop is grinding

      It was spinning freely no grinding. It was probably cavitating due to improper height adjustment on my end

    30 pounds thrust not worth it. Get a 40 pound thrust I use it on my 80 pound canoe with two adults and we slice trough the water very nicely

    You should quit doing so much of a close-up at the water and a close-up of the speedometer you can’t tell how fast you’re going with your phone pointed dead ass in the water
