    this is my opinion of this tool and in no way sponsored by Atlas. although if they wanted to send me some more tools to try, i'd be glad to use them and review them lol. thanks for watching

    My dad bought his at the age of 88. He wanted something easy to use on small trees. It worked great for him for what he wanted it for. He said it would last about 30 min, which is all he had the energy for himself. He wouldn't recommend it for serious wood cutting, though.

      I would agree with that, It works for what I use it for, but it is not an every day saw. Thanks for the comment.!!

    Thanks. The comparison to a gas saw is all I needed to know. Will do anything I'm going to do. Sick of trying to start my gas saw.

    What about chain sprockets? I know you can order them from HF but. time and I don't know the cost. I would like to convert it to a floating sprocket like my gas saws but I doubt that is possible.

      That’s a little over my head to be honest. Id love to shed some light on that but I’d probably lead you astray lol. Thanks for the comment though!!

    Great Review! I bought one a few months ago with two of the 80V 2.5 Ah 40V 5 Ah batteries and then upgraded to the high speed charger as the standard charger's 2Amp output was too slow. The gear's been working great! Are you using the 80V 2.5 Ah 40V 5 Ah battery? Or, the 80V 4 Ah 40V 8 Ah? The video didn't mention which specifically.

    • @westtnliving2222
      @westtnliving2222  Год назад

      Off the top of my head I don’t remember. I know i bought the cheaper of the two, I’m assuming it’s the 4ah.

    • @musiclaw1486
      @musiclaw1486 Год назад +1

      @@westtnliving2222 Yup. As I recollect, you did mention in the vid that the battery was around $100. That would be the 80V 2.5 Ah 40V 5 Ah (which is now going for around $150 unless it's on sale. The bigger battery like $250! Borrowing from my comment to your other Atlas review: the 80V Blower's adjustable Cruise Control feature is really nice. When set low it optimizes the battery's run time. Plus, the Turbo Boost button instantly kicks it to full speed as needed. Really impressive! Grab one. You're likely to enjoy it. And, as you pointed out, once you've bought into the battery and charger eco system, the tools are priced reasonably.

      The 80v battery will put out 40v @ 5AH, to meet the demand of the 40v saw.

    • @musiclaw1486
      @musiclaw1486 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@echohotel1094 Yup! The higher Ah capacity 80V battery will power any of the 40V ATLAS units for approx 2x the duration of the lower Ah battery. The only downsides are that it's a significantly heavier, larger and more costly battery, and will take longer to charge -- even with the higher speed ATLAS Charger. The larger battery might make sense for the lawnmower units, but for the handheld chainsaw, pole chainsaw, hedger, pole hedger, and blowers, and rotary trimmer units, the larger battery noticeably added to the weight and changed the balance of those units (when I tried them in the store). YMMV.

    • @echohotel1094
      @echohotel1094 5 месяцев назад

      @@musiclaw1486 yes, it's definitely a heavier power source. My trimmer and blower are the 80v variant and of course, the mower. I read that the 80v chainsaw will pull current so fast under demand, that it will cause the battery to do a thermal shutdown. This is why I personally opted for the 40v chainsaw with the 80v battery, instead.
      It was my free tool of choice with a battery purchase, so...

      the idea here is you buy into a cordless system, and can save once you have few batteries can swap all the various tools and not have to have seperate battery system for different tool systems.

    I have a 12" WORX cordless chainsaw and I hope to buy the Atlas 16" cordless chainsaw. The WORX batteries (it uses 2 20V) take approx 1 hr and 40 mins to recharge fully. Do you know how long your 80V battery takes to recharge?

    • @westtnliving2222
      @westtnliving2222  6 месяцев назад +1

      I bought the cheapest charger, it takes awhile.. if you spend a little more money, the rapid charger will charge in like 30 mins or so….. so I’m told! Thanks for the comment

    What EVERYONE never mentions on YT is the MPS on battery saws, it's very important it lets one know how fast a saw will cut, even HF dont list MPS..........

    I agree about a second battery since I bought a battery and got a tool of my choice free and of course I needed a charger to and chain tool. But I’m happy with the price and the saw. Now I’m thinking about buying a battery and getting a free tool.

    You hit the ground with your chain twice in the first 1.5 minutes. That will dull it and destroy the saws ability to cut wood.
