Part 1 takes you on our adventure of prospecting, testing, setup and locating of placer gold. We're on a small creek up in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest looking for gold nuggets and pickers. This creek has no seasonal run of salmon, steelhead or trout and mostly dries up in the summer. Part 1 covers the first half of our trip. Day one we prospect for gold using metal detectors (equinox 800), crevicing and panning. Day 2 we dredge with my modified 4" dredge and find some amazing gold! We also start a test on the dredge Dream Mat. Follow along for the adventure and enjoy the show.

Cool and thanks, Keep up the Good work. GodBlessAmen.
Thank you!
Fantastic Bag of Nuggets cheers Rob Bedrock Gold
Thank you!
Very cool 😎👍
Thank you!
Outstanding
We didn't quite reach the goal we talked about. Still did well, considering we had the kids with us.
Great video and nice test, lots of hard work and fun with the family! Stay safe and have a great day!
Thanks for watching. The test results will be at the end of the trip.
@@prospectingforadventure great!
Very nice! Still waiting for the snow to go away on my claim here in Alaska. Thanks for taking me with you!!!
Yeah that's crazy. We had to delay this trip because of snow. It was 85 one day and snowed a day later! Lol
Awesome Gold, greetings
Thanks for watching!
Really cool! I’m excited to get a dredge going on my new placer claims.
Good luck! It's so much fun!
Very nice lol i thought your painted lead was real at first glance lol. Very nice setup on the dredge with the dream mat awesome mat love it. thanks for sharing heavy pans brother
Lol I wish it was gold! It was cool seeing it in the .at regardless.
Great video Chris.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Great couple of days! ✨️⛏️💪🏻👍🏻
Thank you!
That's how to get it done fam. Great job all around. Keep on having fun getting that au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out!!!
Thank you!
Excellent editing! I found myself anxiously awaiting for this video like I used to do in the old days waiting for a world premiere to start! I could do this everyday! Thanks Chris!!
Thank you! Hopefully I'll have one for next Sunday! Can't wait for our next trip!
@@prospectingforadventure , same here. I will be geared up differently.
8:53 where you found that nugget, if it were me, I would be chasing that "L" shaped seem further into the bank. Not sure where the old river channel ran, but if there is a bench further up it could hold good gold. That's just my thoughts. Great video, keep doing what you're doing.
You're not wrong. We explored that enough to see it was rising and walling off as well. We could have pursued it more. We had to make a call based on how much time we had left, what we learned about that spot and our previous experience on the creek. Plus it was so high above the water level we couldn't dredge up there, even with a reasonable temporary dam. Finding nuggets can mess with your rational thinking.
@@prospectingforadventure Agreed. Its easy to say things when watching a video, but it's different when you're there and have knowledge of the ground. wishing you luck on finding the mother lode.
And sometimes you have to step back to see the whole picture. It's all speculation until you see the color in your pan.
Great job 👍👏
Wow! 2-4 grams per cleanup! I'd love to have a place close to home where you could get days like that! Way to go, Brother!
That's about what we averaged on this trip! I'm hoping I can triple or more on my next trip in a couple weeks. This location in this video is about a 6 hour drive. Im only able to go a couple times a year.
We averaged 2 grams a day on this trip. Sorry I miss read your comment.
@Prospecting For Adventure That's awesome! I'm heading out over Memorial Day weekend, and I'll be smiling if I can find 0.1 grams.
Try test panning more locations. Only setup once you find your nest pans. Even if you run for a shorter amount of time, you'll beat the spot with crappy pans.
Great video as always! Glad to see you back at it. I'm sure I will see you out there again one of these days.
Thank you! I had to take a break over winter. Have we met in person yet? Forgive if we have, I forgot names and stuff pretty easy.
@@prospectingforadventure We met in person a year or two ago at a club gathering in Southern Oregon. Name is Jeremy. Have a good one Chris.
Could have been the event for Prospecting Treasure Trove last year. I haven't done any other events down that way that I can recall. Either way, I'm sure we'll cross paths like you said. Good luck out there!
Awesome videos looks like fun! I’ve actually never dredged before. Your channel is blowing up! Seems like yesterday you hit 1k now at 10k Wow!! Great job brother!
Thank you! Dredging is so much fun! I'm pretty excited about the growth too! I took a few months off.
Nothing like a profitable family outing in every aspect..
We had a great time. I still have to edit the last part. Thanks for watching!
Oh sniping it’s one of the best ways to test for gold!
Even if you’re using a Vew tube and fan and scratch the bed rock .
The 5 gallon bucket trick wash the bed rock and then you can scratch the cracks and you can control the stream of water that comes out of the bucket and the last thing to move will be the gold you can either sniff it up or use tweezers but it’s a really quick way to test a lot of ground quickly.
It’s good you’re looking for a spot before you dredge.
With a creek that small in that many people throw all the rock out every time you move a rock you’ll create an Eddie keep stream narrow and all your light materials wash away you will have nothing but concentrates to dredge in bedrock the gold will not wash away.
Gad bar and a 20 ounce rock hammer from East wing can be your best friend.
What an awesome crew you have there!
It’s not about luck it’s about gold knowledge.
Follow the old-timers !
We definitely test as if nothing is original. Testing can be deceiving if the natural gold traps have already been messed with. Sometimes, you have to dig in and see what happens.
Wish was there with you, all.
Thank you, I wish I was back out there. It's been too long.
Dream mat < regular matting and riffles
Out of curiosity, have you used it?
You kids are lucky!! You giving them the chance to learn something that school would never teach!! Nice beard!! I have one too lol
Thanks! I'd like to think they're lucky. That might say different at times. Lol I know I would have enjoyed doing it growing up.
Really nice nugs
Thank you!
Good job man. Look forward to the next one. We’re you at the Lawson bar get together last month ?
Yes, I was. I didn't stay the whole time.
@@prospectingforadventure , oh man I thought I recognized you. I wasn’t sure at the moment so I didn’t say anything. Right on. I’m sure I’ll see you again out there.
I don't bite. Lol Most people recognize me when I have my daughter along. Kind of hard to miss at that point.
Didn't even see you there...haha
I was digging away. Pretty much next to Mike Pung's short bus. Lol
And remember to Respect Mother Earth 🌍🌍 Amen.
We do believe it or not. We clean up trash and reclaim as much as possible. We don't work in streams that has fish runs. Most of our work is erased by the following winter flow.
Do you have a detector on you, makes quick work using pans, good luck 😊
I used my equinox 800 to find that specimen! Screaming signal!
My sister's husband was dredging up in Northern California and got a nugget that was just over 3/4 oz.
That's amazing! Maybe someday I'll find one.
I love that location but it’s so spotty. Really looking forward to getting back up there. Great video man wish I had made it down there with you.
Yeah it'll almost drive you mad looking for a good spot! 🤣 It'll make you second guess everything you've learned. Lol
Really enjoying your channel! Tell me about your 4" dredge. Pump & motor? Factory Keene sluice? I have parts & pieces Im starting to micky mouse together. I have afactory Keede 3" dredge highbanker combo, but I also have a Dahlke 4b micro that has no suction hose or jet log. Thinking of going with a 4" suction nozzle setup instead of a jet.
Thanks for watching! I'm running an old keene box with a p180 pump and 6.5hp harbor freight motor. My jet log is 4" oversized. The box is 16" wide. The frame is an original frame for floats. I modified it as a stand. Not sure what brand nozzle I have, but I love swivel nozzles.
@@prospectingforadventure Thank you sir. My 3" combo has the P180 with the GX 200 Honda so sounds like it should be plenty to use on the 4" Dahlke when I get it set up if the dahlke pump isnt enough. Also have a factory 3" Keene box like your 4" that I was thinking about setting up on a stand like yours for when Idont want the highbanker. Really like your setup!
Now lets get on with part 2 of the latest video👍
Yeah sounds like you'll be fine. Keep your foot valve around 6 feet or shorter and I wouldn't go over 15 feet of suction hose. Longer foot valve or suction hose will start to affect your suction. Working on Part 2. Hopefully I'll have it done for this Sunday. Depends on work. Lol Can't do this stuff full time.
@@prospectingforadventure I just appreciate what you do!
That heavy stuff should be at the top of your box none should be in the refills.
The bedrock has been cleaned by others.
Like I said when the water is a pie or if you went in there and threw all the rock out walked around so you stirred up the bottom you would have nothing but very little gravel on there and it would be very easy to work I would say somebody else is already done that ahead of you.
Cover ground test test test a good spot will have gold everywhere it could be from an anomaly a wing damn are there could be several different things anomalies that can cause an enrichment where are they dumped an old ground slush or hydraulic .
Doubt if they dredged it you could work at much faster and much easier with the techniques I just talked about the only part that would make it easier with the cleanup and even that is a nephew could just snipe it out and only snipe up to heavies and gold.
Move move move keep moving keep testing don’t be afraid it was a nugget the mist obviously or was up on the banker do you know sometimes prospecting is the hardest part.
I’ve got many years of dredging experience in many years of metal detecting for gold !
Find your spot first even if it’s at a 10 x 10 spot on that creek or any other creek do the burger trick to sniping treat it like you’re fission cover ground look for good holes look for the ground that has gold that has an anomaly there could be thousands of different ones it’s on you as a leader it’s like fishing
Cover the ground cover the creeks it can be a tiny spot that has good gold he must do those spots cause there’s way more ground that doesn’t have gold in it.
Good keep moving be one spot one crack but you know way ahead of time when you’re finding gold it Will lead you there.
It will probably take years for you to understand what I’ve said in the last couple comments but this will add to your gold knowledge.
Gold fever it’s real you can ruin your life in one way or another even if somebody else gets it it doesn’t take much to induce Insanity in people.
This is why gold knowledge is hard to come by!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience! My biggest limitation is having to stay on the claim. There's only so much area to test. This area has been hit hard by two sets of operations in the history of the creek. We're definitely looking for leftover scraps. This is the 3rd season working it. Each time, I learn more about the creek.
👍
Thank you.
Hi,
Thanks for sharing a video
Does your sluice catch a fine gold?
It's supposed to. We never got into gravel that had consistent test pans. So it's really difficult to say how it performed on the smaller gold. The mat didn't like the angular bedrock and gravel. So I'll save that mat for a location with normal gravel.
That will not save Finegold you were running a header box which is very poor for saving fine gold.
AV taper do you know the end of your power jet go to wide before it hits the box that way everything slows down and stays on the bottom and don’t get stirred up your water will run clear through your box it will be really easy modify don’t spend any money you will change things for the type of area that you’re in and you’re when you’re gold knowledge grows.
Basically you have to find gold before you worry about losing it but the V taper will get plugged way way less and you will get more power and save finer gold.
That dredge will not pick up heavy gold out of the cracks so you must watch for it with your mask and cleaning out the cracks.
Fully this adds to your goal knowledge just a little bit can you may not understand what I’m saying but you will in the future.
Most important thing Follow thehe old timers
I've ran both the jet flare and crash box designs. The crash box breaks up the clay where I'm at and the flare doesn't.
@@prospectingforadventure the jarvine riffle act as a baffle lets the fine gold slow down under the zig zag perf into the moss. once you slow fine gold down, you're winning. And its a great nugget trap, does not skip off the nuggets like a punch plate or WWM
WOW !!! how in the world can you use a gas power dredge in liberal staes ,,,??? lov the films !!!!
There's one exception. Finding streams above reservoirs without fish runs. Our days are probably numbered.
