Jeep compass is indeed a very nice car. Just failure in offroading and that too very serious, cannot render a car as bad. With my personal driving experience, I suggest this car heavily. Every car has pros and cons.
Was thinking too high about the compass trailhawk right until now . Would say it's a medium offroad capable vehicle and as you said why did they give it a trail rated badge .The Endeavour on the other hand is just too capable offroader.
That compass tyres need to be changed and the driver needs to attack the slope with confidence.. I have seen the trailhawk eat up much more difficult terrains with ease.
The compass shines in the snow and rockier surfaces. The factory falcon tires are not really serious off road worthy. They need a good pair of falcon wildpeak AT3’s instead of the H/T’s, which are all season tires, not all terrain tires.
Other cars started with good momentum from the bottom which why they could climb it. Black coloured Safari did it on its 4th attempt when he was asked to pick momentum from the bottom. All the cars kind of bounced their way to the top because of the momentum they had from the bottom. Not a fan of jeep but that’s what I have noticed. Jeep should have also started with momentum from the bottom. It would have also bounced its way to the top. Once the front wheels were in top the rear ones would have pushed it. I think so.
Momentum can only be used on cars that have enough clearance, if you observe the first thing we did with compass was clearance check, the underbody did not have enough clearance, using speed would only damage the car.

Kind of have a broken heart now .. i love compass .... But then still a little bit happy to hear about ride quality and handling on normal road .... I'd still go for jeep compass since i do not like. Hight of SUV .. its just that i love cars more close to the ground . And a lower close to ground sitting position. Like ford ikon .. Skoda Octavia (2002 types ) bmw 320types .. lower and smaller. .
Driver didn't have confidence with Jeep because of bumper may come off and it's a new Car too.and low ground clearance. He could have bought a gypsy second and rock the off road.
That is so not true. Don't judge a car on what it does in very isolated case. There are 100s of scenarios where Compass would kick ass compared to Endeavour, Gypsy, Fortuner etc. Ex: body roll, drag race, esc, agility etc

I am about to do an event for Jeep Trail Hawk. Wanted to do some home work and i landed on your channel. Got just the info i wanted, which most of the car reviews couldn't give (i.e. how exactly it performs offroad). A true offroad capability could be defined if you didn't have to throttle your way out of the obstacle. Using max torque at lowest RPM possible is the game here. Thanks for your video . Would help us for sure.
Trailhawk Ground Clearance is not enough only, Otherwise look at Gypsy 1.3. Compass is only for highway stability not for OFFROAD like Fortuner,Endeavour,Thar,Isuzu. Jeep should give 205/210 Ground clearance for Compass.
Was planning to buy compass 2021..4x4..is it worth?? Have my doubts after this video. Any other options I can look for..can’t stretch myself beyond 30lac
It would be safe to say the the Compass/Trailhawk is the king amongst the minnows like 2wd monocoque crossovers and perhaps cars like the Tucson AWD , CRV AWD and Tiguan AWD. But where the off-road capabilities of the Trailhawk end, those of the Endeavour, Fortuner, Storme start I guess.
What should you expect of something that doesn't have a lowrange gear, doesn't have real locker, doesn't have all-terrain tires, and has next to no ground clearance. The Compass is the definition of a "soft-roader", it can handle something like Ophir Pass and no more. I like my Cherokee Trailhawk and it has gotten over stuff that people have told me "that thing will never make it". While I tell them "watch this" and crawl right over it, just for them in their JLU Sport to get stuck.

Basically the engine is underpowered for the weight of the jeep.. The others have much more power to weight ratio and hence.can go over sharp inclines with even lesser traction between the wheels and and the ground..
compass doesn't low range and the problem faced here is because if the transmission. in Jeep compass automatic transmission it cuts power even if you have the throttle pushed to the floor. this is done to ensure the transmission does not heat up... this is a common problem with the transmission.
Disappointed with the off roading capabilities but not surprised.Although for all those making fun of this jeep it is the best when it comes to Highway driving or even sprinting through mud/slush.Its very capable on road and dynamically rich.It is so much better than the Kia's and the MG in the dynamics handling, stability and outright performance.It's just a shame that otherwise such a capable vehicle is let down due to its pricing.
