There's actually 2 different "Arrow Modes" the one you showed was basically just for extra power and long range but you can unfold it more and the that allows the Red Frame to change the beams direction mid flight.
@@bthsr7113 I think it has to do with the Voiture Lumiere System. You can look up its attacks from SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays and see for yourself, the Beam basically pulls a 90 degree turn mid flight.

Im a huge fan of Astray Red Frame and been watching Reviews for MG. And yeah Body Articulation making me Doubt. But watching this review shocked me. The real MG Astray Review! Great!
I assume that the Tactical Arms that the Red Frame Kai act more like a mace than a sword, where it's used for bludgeoning mobile suits instead of cutting throught them
Original tactical arms itself use Blue Frame swinging power and speed for slash and stabbing it's foe. In G Generation games Tactical Arms animation always have "shockwave" effect implying Tactical Arms are smashing weapon in principle because it's quite heavy.
In Japanese swordsmanship, you generally cut with the top 1/5 or end of the blade which has the most momentum at any given strike and is known as the effective cutting portion. So the parts juttint out in the middle shouldn't be a problem for the most part.
one of my most-wanted gunpla, but i never got around to getting one since im a little torn on which to buy, blue frame or red frame? i guess the best option would be to get both!
Fun fact in my school vr game the red frame bow mode weapon was used but not by the mobile suit itself but was used by goalius just to take out the barbatos lupas rex with a z arrow right through the chest and then the red frame gave goalius it sense the pilot realised that Goalius has arrow abilities but not a bow
It worked for the blue frame cause the is not only better but more easily packed into the sword mode which is why I attribute arrow mode to Loewe's eccentricities
Idk, looks like with the shape of it and those thrusters on the giant sword, it looks more like a piercing/thrusting weapon more than a slashing weapon. I think the sides of the sword is more for blocking and bashing.
I've never had a gunpla before and never watched the series but I decided I'd buy one and this was the one I bought. It should arrive tomorrow. Looks pretty cool
Speaking of which, if you want a complete paired collection of the Red Frame equipment, buying the Kai for the Tactical Arms and the Red Dragon for the Caletvwlch, custom M1 Flight Unit (since it doesn't have the larger wings its base version got), and its new head (the Ddraig Head) along with the standard issue Astray equipment is an advisable option. For my wonderful ideas, I prefer repainting the included Tactical Arms to the gold version seen in Princess of the Sky, since I love the Tactical Arms and the Gold Frame Amaterasu.
"Having something sticking out of the side of your sword isn't gonna be very beneficial when slashing" yeah but vincent the sword is so fucking big you wont even get to that part when shashing OR stabbing, especially if mobile suits are in question. Same thing with the excalibur and schwertgewehr, the little bump means nothing.
