Love from South Africa. #UmarSulaiman, we are waiting for you to visit South Africa. We loved having Dr. Yasir and Ustadth Nouman. I think one of the reason Ahmad Deedat was so successful was due to struggles of South Africans. We were vocal and we spoke English very well. We still do.
The Autobiography of Malcolm X has been incredibly influential in America. I know a number of people, both Black and white, who came to Islam through that book. One thing I really respect about Sh. Omar is that he looks to the experience of African Americans for what Muslims can learn from that history and experience. And he is modeling this in a time when so many first- and even second-generation American Muslims still would rather distance themselves from Black people in the hopes of integrating with the white majority, or choose to see their struggles as a minority as entirely new and unique, or would even align with the elites and leave other minorities and the poor and oppressed behind (which was not the way of the prophets).
Assalamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. Muslims don't look to the "civil rights movement" as a guide for dawah. We have a nearly 1500 year tradition. If the Qur'an and Sunnah are not enough to guide and benefit one in regards to dawah, then surely he is the one who is mistaken. As an example, to prove the ignorance of those looking to these "civil activists" as role models: What are the ettiquettes of giving dawah? Likely, none of them know. Moreover, I would like to point out the aggressive nature of those who support "civil activists" when their understanding of Islam is questioned. Quite often, the message from them is "leave me alone," or "as long as it's not haraam, I can take lessons from whoever I like." The problem is, of course, the admirers of "civil activism" do not know what they're doing is haraam very often. We have the best examples to learn from, and the clearest guidance to follow, so what is stopping these people from learning their deen properly and implementing it? May Allah ta'ala grant us understanding. Ameen.
Brother Omar is the man who helped me tremendously to strengthen my deen! I will always be grateful to him and he would have right on my good deeds! Jazakallah khairan, brother!💖💖🤲

@H S take it easy with the insults man, you are correct about his deviance and how he is misguiding people but to say that about him to somebody who clearly admires him won't help much, you need to calmly explain thing and take it little by little and pray that God guides everybody.

I regularly watch both DH and Imam OS and benefit from both greatly. Imam OS has made some mistakes, sure. However, the effect of those mistakes has been overblown imo. I live where he teaches and I still haven't met a single practicing person that attends the masajid regularly and listens to local Shuyookh regularly who also agree with the liberal agenda. The folks that follow the liberal agenda consider these imaams and shuyookh salafi. Let that sink in. They consider them SALAFI and extremists. I recently came across several videos of folks on youtube "refuting" DH from the salafi side and casting aspersions and doubts on his "manhaj" and I thought to myself, subhanAllah what world are we creating here? Paul, thank you as always for your great work. This video was another amazing effort by you.
Yes Daniel there might be some element of takfeerism in DH. I'm not sure if he's cleared anything. That's what made people doubt his salafism. Also he collaborated with many deobandis. So salafis weren't sure of him. As for OS, it's not his liberalism bit that's the only problem. It's a lot more. At Yaqeen institute there's barely any segregation between genders. A friend of mine works for them as a volunteer and he posts many videos where I can see this is the case. Also why does it look like he trims his beard? He has it equal from all sides rather than a scruffy beard which is usually what happens when you let it grow as the Prophet PBUH told us to

Well said. Try to build bridge across this chasm.
As an example, to prove the ignorance of those looking to these "civil activists" as role models:
What are the ettiquettes of giving dawah?
Likely, none of them know.
Moreover, I would like to point out the aggressive nature of those who support "civil activists" when their understanding of Islam is questioned.
Quite often, the message from them is "leave me alone," or "as long as it's not haraam, I can take lessons from whoever I like."
The problem is, of course, the admirers of "civil activism" do not know what they're doing is haraam very often.
We have the best examples to learn from, and the clearest guidance to follow, so what is stopping these people from learning their deen properly and implementing it?
May Allah ta'ala grant us understanding.
Ameen.

Nobody's perfect, that includes Dr. Omar Suleiman. But I learn a lot about the religion from him, especially on the subject of humility and akhlaq (manners), may Allah reward him for this. Never judge people - leave this to Allah - anything good from a person, I take it, any bad thing (after being confirmed) just leaves it, as simple as that. Great video as always, brother Paul. @H S take it easy with the insults man, you are correct about his deviance and how he is misguiding people but to say that about him to somebody who clearly admires him won't help much, you need to calmly explain thing and take it little by little and pray that God guides everybody.
@H S yes umar slmn is misguided, people of fitnah, but to takfiri be careful, takfiri is soooo soooo big claim. if he repents, and you still takfiri him, that will bounch back to you. be careful.... just call him misguided is more save

Wa alaykumu s-salam
He has it equal from all sides rather than a scruffy beard which is usually what happens when you let it grow as the Prophet PBUH told us to
Thanks for inviting Dr. Omar, Paul. I love his series " The First". I know he has faced a lot of criticism. But let Allah be the mighty judge of us all and lead us back to the right path if we ever astray.

Please don't make any bad comments about Dr Suleiman. His intention is only known to Allah so stop judging. Also look towards the good one is doing
we don't judge people by intentions, only God is capable of that.
we judge by what is apparent, and we leave the intent to God.
with that being said, what is apparent form Dr Suleiman is not very good thus we judge based on that, in that sense it is the duty of every Muslim to warn others about people like Dr Suleiman, who might look like they hold Islamic opinions but what they actually preach is Liberal Ideology and try to pass it as Islam.

Interesting he, like many others, think Sahih Bukhari is second only to the Quran? I've heard different. I thought for Sunnis Imam Malik's al-Mawattaa had this position.
It's a fact of history that the four "Sunni" sects were promoted by the various rulers and they ventually they also ended up using Sahih Bukhari as it had many ahadiith , of various authenticities, some o which well-suited to their own agenda. But that was is not always the case. Imam Malik (الإمام مالك), founder of the Malilki sect which is regarded as one of the greatest in Sunni Islam, and Imam Malik the most prestigious faqeeh in Sunni circles. Malik gained fame because of writing the book called Al-Mawattaa (الموطأ) which, according to "Ahl al-Sunnah," is the most authentic book after the Book of Allah, and there are many scholars who regard it as superior to, and they prefer it over, al-Bukhari's Sahih.
"Description
It is considered to be from the earliest extant collections of hadith that form the basis of Islamic jurisprudence alongside the Qur'an.[3] It includes reliable hadith from the people of the Hijaz, as well as sayings of the companions, the followers and also those who came after them.[4] The book covers rituals, rites, customs, traditions, norms and laws of the time of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.[5]
It is reported that Imam Malik selected for inclusion into the Muwatta just over 1900 narrations,[6] from the 100,000 narrations he had available to him"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muwatta_Imam_Malik
"If we wish to document more facts relevant to the methods whereby the four "Sunni" sects were promoted by the rulers, we need to cite only one example by removing the curtains from the sect established by Imam Malik, a sect which is regarded as one of their greatest, most prestigious, and whose fiqh is the broadest. Malik gained fame particularly because of writing his book Al-Mawta which, according to "Ahl al-Sunnah," is the most authentic book after the Book of Allah, and there are many scholars who regard it as superior to, and they prefer it over, al-Bukhari's Sahih. ..."
