Dr Mustafa Khattab gave some amazing examples about non Arabic names in the Quran. Quote: Every time you see a non Arabic name given in the Quran, the Quran will give you the meaning of that name in its original language. For example the word Ibrahim in the language of aramaic means a role model so Allah says in the Quran that Ibrahim is a role model. Another example about Sara the wife of Ibrahim: Quran says that Sara smiled and the angels gave her the news of the birth of Ishaq and the name Ishaq in Hebrew means the smiling one. Another one is the word pharaoh or firaun it means the big tower, the high house in the ancient egyptian language and the Quran Allah says "pharaoh said to Hamman build me a big tower".
The name Ibrahim does not mean role model. The name Ishaq does not mean smile. The name Fir'aun does not mean big tower. You are stretching it too far.
Don't know about Ibrahim name but the other names translation is right: It is an Hebrew-originated name. Ishaq name meaning is Laughs In Egyptian Baby Names the meaning of the name Ishaq is: Laughs ************* The word pharaoh ultimately derives from the Egyptian compound pr ꜥꜣ, */ˌpaɾuwˈʕaʀ/ "great house", written with the two biliteral hieroglyphs pr "house" and ꜥꜣ "column", here meaning "great" or "high"
@@user-dw8ht9ge5l Ishaq means to laugh in Hebrew. Not smile. The meaning of Abraham is still a mystery even to Hebrew scholars. They only know the meaning of his original name, Abram, which means "high father". As for Fir'aun, nobody knows the actual meaning of it except Allah. The reconstructed meaning of Pr'ah in ancient Egyptian language is Big Palace but it is still not 100% certain.

it is interesting in Surah Yunus, that the sun is Shining rather than Nur its opposite to the moon, "Dhiya 'an" supposedly a reflections mean while Nur is the essence of light like the creation of the Angel 🤔
No. Diyaa is the equivalent of english word blaze and noor is simply light. I don't think there is any relation to reflection or non reflection. The point is Quran mentions both stars and sun as lamps whereas moon was never mentioned as such. Yes it would be a stretch to think there is some hidden intention underneath unless such subtleties are repeated a lot.
Sir Paul you are requested to invite Mufti Yasir Nadeem AlWajdi on your channel. Legendary scholar working against Atheists, Agnostics and Apostates etc.
Any discussion about sufism and tariqa? What are the views of all Muslim regarding this subject. Maybe you had this discussion before and I miss out.... 🤔
Sufism has generally very good for Muslims. But like all sects, there are deviants in Sufism. This has been discussed by people like Sheikh Hamza Yusuf. While I'm not a Sufi, I have no problems with Imam Ghazali. Even Ibn Taymiyah , who the Salafis consider to be Sheikh al Islam, did not actually say Sufism was wrong. Look at the video by Sheik Nionwy: ruclips.net/video/nmaLbJJfwJU/видео.html
Wait isn't الضياء (Diaa) means a light which has heat with it and النور (Noor) is the light with no harm or heatless light ? The translation of reflective light is not the most supported one.
Yes, off course there’s hundreds of them. They can only mean one thing eg every living thing made from water, the sun rotating, salt and sweet water not mixing embryology and many hundreds more.
Couldn't like this episode, because there was too much talking without providing as much information. While I do understand that Quran isn't about Maths or physics, but still expecting if someone claims that there are some scientific facts within the Quran, to clearly point them out and to explain how these verses were later proven correct by unequivocal scientific facts. Furthermore, the verse mentioned about the sun being (Siraj), which can be roughly translated as lantern or lamb. And the moon being (Noor) which is light. I am afraid the term "reflective light" is just the personal translation of Dr. Musharraf. While it is true that the Quran assigned different description for each , the word "reflective" hasn't been mentioned. It's added by Dr Musharraf to match what we now know about the moon reflecting the sun's light (not emitting a light from itself). In my opinion, this episode is meant for the people who already believe in islam but wouldn't help in the defence against asthiests' arguments neither as proving the devinity of Quran to followers of other religions.
Your observation is correct. They have not discussed the numerical "miracle" sufficiently either. Strictly speaking the numerical patterns in the Quran do not point to any miracle (i.e. violation of natural law), but rather to the cumulative probability of very low chance that the patterns fell in place by themselves.
To sheikh Ziyad Actually you are not familiar with Language. When there is two words that both pertain to the same thing then what is looked at to interpret what is being said is to look for a contrast between them. But since you are not in that field, what you should do is to try to gain some knowledge from others who have more experience. And refrain from making stupid comments so that your ignorance is not exposed.
@@SR-df9jd , I do not choose otherwise. I too believe in their divine origin because cumulative probability of formation of these numerical patterns all by accident while authoring the Quran is statistically impossible. What I meant was that this phenomenon is not a "miracle" in the Christian sense where miracle refers to violation of natural laws e.g. bringing a dead person alive or walking on water.
@@Toronado2 وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا That's the verse from Noh -19 in Arabic My point was about adding the word "reflective" to describe the moon light. As a Moslem and native Arabic speaker, I can't find any word to serve that meaning "reflective or reflected" . In Arabic Should be something like منعكس، معكوس، مرتد And non of these words is there. I think we don't need to change the straight translation of a word or a verse to match the precise scientific description of an object or a phenomenon. Noor means light whether it is reflected or not.
The Quran is spiritual book and not science book. There are indeed obvious physical and biological facts in the Quran that were not known to man until recently. E.g embryology, darkness in the deep sees, etc and others not so obvious. But what we are seeing today of some people stretching the Quran too far and making so many unnecessary claims is not right. Lets focus on spirituality and God consciousness.
With all respect, I'd be very careful when a non-Arab interprets the two words used to describe the lights of the sun and the moon. Even native speakers of Arabic are not all qualified to interpret the words of the Quran. If your guest's interpretation is true, why does Allah (SWT) use the word "noor" to describe Himself (if it means reflected light)? The word "noor" simply means light. There is scientific accuracy in the Quran but not everyone is qualified to talk about the language.
@@ghadakhafagi4057Dear Brother, whatever words we used to describe god, whether it be the face, the hands, his light etc may not be the face, the hands, the light that we are used to. Our description using human words are just poor approximations of the hidden reality. Allah knows best.
@@mohamadromzee7394 I agree, but the speaker (with all respect) has come up with a translation of the Arabic word "noor" that is no true. If "noor" means "reflected light" as he said, then you have to apply the same translation to the same word throughout the Qur'an. Accordingly, Allah's light becomes reflected light which is not true of course and the word "noor" simply means light. Read the discussion from the beginning.
Not only does the Quran contain scientific miracles, but so do the hadiths. For example, the high energy of cosmic radiation of the black hole and the black hole are black because a rocket or even a visible light particle of photon cannot overcome the enormous high gravity field of the black hole's event horizon. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "The Fire was kindled for one thousand years until it reddened, then it was kindled for one thousand years until it whitened, then it was kindled for one thousand years until it became blackened, so it is dark black."(sahih hadith of Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2591, 2795)
What Albert Einstein had to say about relativity, time, and space.: Gravitational Time Dilation: In his General Theory of Relativity, Einstein proposed that time is also affected by gravity. The stronger the gravitational field, the slower time passes. This means that time runs slower near massive objects like planets or stars compared to regions with weaker gravitational fields⁴. Relativity of Simultaneity: Events that are simultaneous for one observer may not be simultaneous for another if they are moving relative to each other. This concept challenges the notion of absolute time, suggesting that time is relative and depends on the observer's frame of reference⁵. Einstein's insights show that time is not a universal constant but a variable that can change based on speed and gravity. This means that a thousand years around a black hole's event horizon is equivalent to billions of years for an observer far away.
It’s correct what you say but the Qur’an mentions first the sun as a lamp or candle(>source< of light and warmth which glows) and the moon as a light. So why did the Quran describe the sun as a lamp and the moon as light? There is this distinction. We now know that the light from the moon is not from itself(reflection? and in combination with the distinction the Qur’an makes the speakers speaks in terms of reflected light. You need to include the description of the sun to understand what Allah swt means by the moon as a light.
@@samkb6374 it’s all good to assume and speculate, but no where does it describe the word noor نور as a reflective light even in the description you are giving the sun
Great informations but I have one question ,if noor means reflecting the light as the moon does How come Allah says his all mighty is noor of the heavens and earth ,is it means reflecting the light or Allah is the source of the light?? Thanks
Yes of course there are. Splitting of moon by messenger of Arab God. Messenger if Arab God flying on a horse to heaven and after chitchatting returning to ground.
The concept of time is God's creation. It does not apply to God. Necessarily time zero implies beginning of creation. Big bang is falsely started at time zero. I think it is an absurdity of Einsteins model, which has embedded singularities in it.

When i was in college (mid 2000s) the majority of muslims i knew when asked what proof is there for Islam would say "the scientific miracles in the quran" admitingly it was a science degree I was doing. When i started looking into all of these "proofs" straight away I could see it relied on putting arbitruary interpretations on words and then stretching out the meanings of the verses. Most people doing Dawah today seldom ever use this as justification anymore as all of them have been debunked. If you are not an arabic speaker what I would advise is dont just use the sahih international translation use the yusuf ali and pickthal translations. When you combine a number of translations it becomes abundantly clear how short these proofs fall down.
@Silkin It has nothing to do with my initial argument my initial argument didnt even state i didnt believe in Islam. THe view I hold in my initial comment just said you cant use science to back up the quran this is consistant with some muslim thinkers
Quran: Allah created the world/universe in six days Science: The Big Bang created atoms/matters, gravity drew them together and form our galaxies where our planets and stars(sun) were born and this process took millions of years. This alone disprove the entire conversation Lmao 😂
@@erict.35 what makes you think they’re not literal? That’s the problem with religion everyone get to choose their interpretations. Wether literal or allegorical it’s still wrong there were no days prior to the formation of the earth. So how could Allah have created the earth in six days when there’s no day? Lol I need your help here pls
@@georgeeinarsson5956 “there were no days prior to the formation of the Earth” You failed to understand a day is a measure of time. And time existed prior to the formation of the Earth.
@@erict.35 what is time? Time simply means movement. If there’s no movement there’s no time. A day is 24 hours the amount of time our earth completes its rotation, so a day can’t exist prior to the earth. A day is a solar time not a space time that was created immediately after the Big Bang. Solar time is not prior to earth formation, we can’t get 24 hours(a day) without the formation of the earth so your theory is flawed. So my question still stands, How did Allah created the earth in six days since there was no day or night prior to the creation of the earth?
6 periods. It's not earthly days. All universe is termed to 7 days, the last day is the judgement day. It's all just a week "symbolicly" or "cosmicly" in God's terms.
@Johnonymous Well, I for one am not embarrassed at all. In fact I believe that anything that CAN'T be explained scientifically is a Miracle. Allah does everything with His Knowledge and Power. Just because you can not comprehend that , doesn't give you any more credence for your denial.
my brothers and sisters : No there are no scientific miracles in the Quran nor scientific errors in it because the Quran is not a scientific book in the first place. And here is why the Quran does not contain science nor should we interpret the Quran from a scientific point of view: Science is limited by space and time. If the Quran contains "scientific theories"" then the Quran is also limited by space and time --- which is false. The Quran is not limited by space and time. It is one of the attributes of God ( his speech) who is beyond space and time. The message of God is eternel. It is for everyone no matter who/where they are or when are they living. Science is relative. The Quran is not relative. It is absolute. Science is man-made. The Quran is the word of God and therefore is not man-made. Scientific conclusions change over time. The Quran is completely revealed now and therefore does not change. Science is not perfect. The Quran is perfect. Neither the messenger of God (peace be upon him) nor his compagnions (May Allah be pleased with them all) understood the Quran from a "scientific point of view" since there were no science back then in the first place. And add to this : there are no facts in science to begin with. Scientific theories are based on evidence and yet they change. Because the data changes. And so even if scientists proved something : it does not imply that it is true. In other words : science does not give you truth. And since it does not give you truth nor is it the criterion of truthfulness, then why are we using science to interpret the Quran ? it is erroneous. Any person that says that the Quran contains "science" either does not understand the nature of science or he does not understand the nature of the Quran or he does not understand both. With all due respect to those muslims who do dawah this way. But their method is false and is, in fact, very dangerous. Now, yes the Quran is a miracullous book of course but it is not related to science in no way. Its miracle is due its coherence, self-consistency, language and order...etc. And Allah knows best. Paul you are being irrational when you said that living in Arabia it wouldn’t be clear that everything is made from water…I’m pretty sure if you’re living in the desert you would definitely know that water is the most important element for life…you’re in a desert for crying out loud
It is not clear to me that people in the 7th century would obviously conclude that cattle and camels and birds etc were all made of water. That's a huge leap of the imagination. It's remarkable that the Qur'an gets it right.
I woul add to that the Qur'aan says every living thing in the Universe is made from water. Remember the Qur'aan also says life is scattered throughout the universe, not just the Earth.

What is also TRULY SHOCKING is that if from START of Chapter 48 and until END of QURAN, total VERSES shall be exactly 1653 too !!! And what is 1653 ??? If from START of QURAN itself and until END of Chapter 57, The Iron, total sum of CHAPTER NUMBERS will of course be exactly 1653 too because 1+2+3+ 4.....56+57 = 1653. --------- And like Chapter 57, The Iron has exactly 29 VERSES, Chapter 48 too will have exactly 29 VERSES !! ONLY one other chapter will also have 29 VERSES and it is Chapter 81. BUT 81 itself is also VERY INTERETSING ! The OFFICIAL WORLDWIDE and quite MODERN scientific symbol of IRON is of course FE........letter F & E in Arabic also has an exact ABJAD VALUE of 81 ( F = 80 & E = 1.........So FE = 81 ! ) ================= ===== Refer back to this new post of mine too regarding the obvious and awesome scientific signs of IRON & HEMOGLOBIN in the Quran : fa@@@cebo@@@ok.c@@@@om@@@@@/@@@groups@@@/AlRaqeemQuranMiracles/@@@permalink/7030148503769673/ ======================= The ONLY FULL SPELLING of the word HEMOGLOBIN ( in REVERSE ) is once again inside Chapter 48 too, at Verse 25. How could he have known that the MODERN & FULLY OFFICIAL scientific symbol of IRON is going to be 'FE' too 1000 years later in the future ??
Is the Big Bang really in the Quran?? The story of gods/god separating earth from heaving is an ancient idea that predates the Quran. the heavens and the earth were joined together as one unit, before We clove them asunder" (21:30) 👇 “Let me praise heroic Indra, by whose might the bright sky was pulled apart from the earth. The two parts were willing. The waters gave way to [him who was] being born” [Ṛg Veda Maṇḍala 10 Sūkta 89 Verses 1ab and 13cd of Ṛṣi Reṇu; translation. There’re many other ancient traditions including Chinese, epic of the Gilgamesh etc that also highlighted how god pulled heaven and earth apart while they’re joined together as one entity. This is not unique to the Quran, it’s an ancient idea that has no correlation with the Big Bang or whatsoever. Note: Quran said heaven, earth and life was created immediately after they were separated(Big Bang) but this is against the Big Bang theory because after the Big Bang it took millions of years for our earth to form and it took another millions of yrs for life to form on earth. Linguistically it doesn’t even hold up to scrutiny, There’re only two heavens in the Quran: samaa(sky)the word Quran uses when talking about rain, moon, sun and stars and samaawaat(heavens) which is talking about the seven heavens where Allah live. Samaawaat was the word used used in surah 21:30, if you’re going to interpret it as Big Bang that means you’re insinuating that live within the universe which is a big problem in Islam. In following to that, The so called verse that talked about everything being created from water is not referring to actual water rather a fluid(semen) according to classical exegetical interpretation of the Quran. Its ingenuine how Muslims trash their traditional classical exegesis on the Quran for a pseudo interpretations of it to make it align with science. But even if we’re going to give the credit to the Quran for the sake of argument, It’s still wrong because living things aren’t created from water, Instead living things contains water not made from it. Living things are made up cells which contains different chemical elements including hydrogen & oxygen from which water are made of. If this is actually coming from a creator who is rational and unequivocal in his words, the proper wording should’ve been that “All living things contains water not created from water”. The golden age of Islam didn’t happened because of Islam. During the Arab conquest Muslim soldiers destroyed and burn every document that contradicts the Quran. It was many years later when the Persians who had Greek heritage has become Muslims that the golden age of islam took off and that was because they accepted tons of books shipped from Alexandria library in Egypt which contains many of Greek philosophers works including Aristotle and Plato not because of the Quran or Islamic teachings and understanding of the world which contradicts science. Go learn basic history and science Paul, you sound very pathetic and ingenuine trying to link Islam with science, both are really indeed in loggerheads.
You are correct to certain extent. Quran is a book of guidance for all humanity. It’s NOT a book of science. Science only tries to explain things/phenomena already in existence. Quran goes beyond it if you understand. Unfortunately not everyone does. Muslims are instructed to stick to the core message and not go into unnecessary details even if someone has some PhD. And BTW loggerheads is good, part of growing pains. Kids vs parents , intelligence vs Wisdom until intelligence grows into wisdom. Hopefully 😉
George, show me a hadith or a tafseer which says that all living things who are created from water were IMMEDIATELY created after the heavens and earth. Qur’an 21:30 I see you have a lot of weird interpretations but now it’s the time to back these interpretations by the Islamic literature. Show me.
@@samkb6374 (21:30) Did the unbelievers (who do not accept the teaching of the Prophet) not realize that the heavens and the earth were one solid mass, then We tore them apart,28 and We made every living being out of water? Quran is describing a continuous process that was going on for six days.

Dr Mustafa Khattab gave some amazing examples about non Arabic names in the Quran.
Quote:
Every time you see a non Arabic name given in the Quran, the Quran will give you the meaning of that name in its original language.
Don't know about Ibrahim name but the other names translation is right:
It is an Hebrew-originated name. Ishaq name meaning is Laughs
In Egyptian Baby Names the meaning of the name Ishaq is: Laughs
*************
The word pharaoh ultimately derives from the Egyptian compound pr ꜥꜣ, */ˌpaɾuwˈʕaʀ/ "great house", written with the two biliteral hieroglyphs pr "house" and ꜥꜣ "column", here meaning "great" or "high"
@@Emsyaz Then what do they mean?
@@user-dw8ht9ge5l Ishaq means to laugh in Hebrew. Not smile.
The meaning of Abraham is still a mystery even to Hebrew scholars.
They only know the meaning of his original name, Abram, which means "high father".
As for Fir'aun, nobody knows the actual meaning of it except Allah.
The reconstructed meaning of Pr'ah in ancient Egyptian language is Big Palace but it is still not 100% certain.
@@Emsyaz Interesting, jazkallahu khairan :) How did you find this out if you don't mind me asking? It doesn't seem like knowledge one stumbles on.

Why is everybody excited whenever Islam is shown to be a true Message from Allah !
Some Muslims have this niggly doubt, deep in their subconscious, and they find relief whenever someone points out some subtle Qur'anic miracle .. Or when some celebrity embraces Islam.
I do not think we should be looking for scientific miracles in the Qur'an because science can change
ruclips.net/video/slb2CP45utQ/видео.html [Already someone said this]
The Quran only confirms the truth but science which came later only affirms what is a fact‼️ don't get things wrong because the Quran has already mentioned about the planets swimming in their orbit as well as glorifying Allah as well the path of the stars. Alhamdulillah Islam harmonizes with science.

Paul I love the way you are informing people about Islam in an way that is educational. I do not agree with the kind of Muslims who think they are helping the cause of Islam with distortions. Allah does not need anyone to spread the religion of Islam, if He had willed the whole of mankind would be Muslim ....it is only necessary to inform people about Islam and leave it up to them to judge between truth and falsehood.
Luckily Allah didn't will the whole world to be Muslim! Especially for women.

Look at the video by Sheik Nionwy:

To sheikh Ziyad
Actually you are not familiar with Language.
Please kindly define “ the natural law”.
@@Toronado2 وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا
That's the verse from Noh -19 in Arabic
My point was about adding the word "reflective" to describe the moon light. As a Moslem and native Arabic speaker, I can't find any word to serve that meaning "reflective or reflected" . In Arabic Should be something like
منعكس، معكوس، مرتد
And non of these words is there.
Well if he's a qualified Islamic scholar he would have a reasonable grounding in classical Arabic.

@@ghadakhafagi4057 Allah is the light of the heavens and earth. Has nothing to do with physical light but a deeply spiritual meaning.
Not only does the Quran contain scientific miracles, but so do the hadiths. For example, the high energy of cosmic radiation of the black hole and the black hole are black because a rocket or even a visible light particle of photon cannot overcome the enormous high gravity field of the black hole's event horizon.
Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) said:
"The Fire was kindled for one thousand years until it reddened, then it was kindled for one thousand years until it whitened, then it was kindled for one thousand years until it became blackened, so it is dark black."(sahih hadith of Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2591, 2795)
What Albert Einstein had to say about relativity, time, and space.:
Gravitational Time Dilation: In his General Theory of Relativity, Einstein proposed that time is also affected by gravity.
People can see anything they wish to see if they look hard enough.

Why does he say that the Quran says the moon is a reflective light when the word reflect is not in there in the verse he is claiming

@Johnonymous
Well, I for one am not embarrassed at all.
And here is why the Quran does not contain science nor should we interpret the Quran from a scientific point of view:
Science is limited by space and time.

Is the Big Bang really in the Quran??
The story of gods/god separating earth from heaving is an ancient idea that predates the Quran.
the heavens and the earth were joined together as one unit, before We clove them asunder" (21:30)
👇
“Let me praise heroic Indra, by whose might the bright sky was pulled apart from the earth.
The two parts were willing. The waters gave way to [him who was] being born”
[Ṛg Veda Maṇḍala 10 Sūkta 89 Verses 1ab and 13cd of Ṛṣi Reṇu; translation.
Linguistically it doesn’t even hold up to scrutiny, There’re only two heavens in the Quran:
samaa(sky)the word Quran uses when talking about rain, moon, sun and stars and samaawaat(heavens) which is talking about the seven heavens where Allah live.
Hopefully 😉
