    I have grown to love Botanical Interests seed company. Their catalog provides really good info and their seed packets provide great instructions on planting.

      Autumn can be as beautiful as Spring. I enjoy Spring when everything is just opening up. Autumn for me means that we'll soon have the most restful season of Winter. 😉

      I'm going to try to do more videos of planting things in the garden. I'll definitely be showing the planting and pruning of tomatoes. I love summer in my high tunnel. I can always nibble on cherry tomatoes while I'm working. 😊

    I must agree that Cherokee Purple tomatoes are the best!

    • @waardenburgfamilyfarm4764
      @waardenburgfamilyfarm4764  5 месяцев назад

      They really are! It's hard to get people to try them because they look different than the traditional red tomato, but they are scrumptious.

    If you venture into saving seed, try 'Saving Our Seeds' by Beven Cohen for an easy to understanding. You'll save a bundle snd it's sooo easy. Start with tomatoes and beans first to get your feet wet. Careful about tomatoes all the flower parts being inside the blossom before the flower opens.
    The next book would be 'Seed to Seed' by Suzanne Ashworth. Good luck, hope this is helpful.

    The smallest tray wholes are referred to as plug trays in the greenhouse world. That’s how most greenhouses start the vast majority of their seeds. I worked a greenhouse for many years while getting my master gardener certification and small vessels for starting seeds is best but yes it does require more time transplanting but it’s worth it in the end as germination rates are far higher in plug trays. Enjoy watching all your hard work but it makes me so hungry for a BLT!!!:):):)

      Thanks. My husband gets on my case for how often I use the word 'things' to describe something. If I can't remember/don't know the right word it just seems to work. 😄 Now I know the right term....now we'll see if I can remember it. Lol. We seriously wait for the minute our first tomato is ripe every season to have our first BLT. The countdown begins. YUM!

      Brenda…I hope I didn’t make you feel belittled for that wasn’t my intent. I just thought I would share that plugging is the best way to start seeds. As for not being able to get our words out…that happens to all of us far more than we would like. I tell my husband that not being able to get my words out is because I have so much on in my brain that the words aren’t sure when it’s their turn to appear! Please forgive me if I in any way offended you!!!:):):)

    You can get three bricks of coconut coir for $15.95 thru spray-n-grow online. They carry some wonderful garden product. I started about 100 tomato plants this year. Three kinds of paste tomatoes, some cherry and some slicers. You just can't have too many tomatoes! I do my own sauces and get my seeds from about 7 or 8 seed companies and have started saving some of my own seeds. Spring is just a magical time of year!!! God bless y'all and keep growing.

      Thanks for the tip on coconut coir. I've never heard of spray-n-grow, but I'll definitely be checking them out. You are so right about tomatoes....there's never too many. What kind of paste tomatoes do you grow. I like Amish Paste, but it would be good to grow other types too. Spring IS magicial.

    Do you have a video on your grow light set-up?

    • @waardenburgfamilyfarm4764
      @waardenburgfamilyfarm4764  5 месяцев назад +1

      Sorry, we don't have a video about the lights. I just buy LED shop lights that can plug into each other for a continuous series of lights. Each wire rack runs off of the plus for the first light which plugs into a timer. Here's a link to the lights I use: This is the third year for most of them and they have held up very well. I use trays and other 'lifts' to keep the trays close to the lights.
