If by next generation, you mean after the timeskip (the second one), then you'd be wrong. The new plot arc (the Alvarez one) is amazing! I really hope they bring back the first season animation when they do it though, and the music from the original series. Somehow, I don't feel like fairy tail 2014 music or animation would really do it justice.
