I'm glad you answered this question... I've always wondered about that. I'm switching to the Jobeky low volumes WITH the built in triggers. I'll let you know how they work out.

I've wondered how those cymbals perform, I'm interested to see if you like them more or less than your current ones :)

I just bought a dm10 MK2 pro and I got to say for a primarily metal and like blues jazz guy, I absolutely fucking love what I got. I guess I'm a guitar player primarily but I am a drummer for just as long and I really like what alesis hasgoing on with that particular kit. Of course even as big as that drum set was it wasn't big enough and I already bought a ddti and my friend gave me the pads from his old electronic drum kit and I built two on my own to expand my kit already. No the ddti is not triggering other sounds in the alesis module, it's triggering a whole separate drum kit that I put together inside of FL studio and I use them both in conjunction with each other. Cuz you know I wanted to make my life as difficult as possible

It's not a trigger, it's a direct source pickup, also know as a mic. But I wanna try it anyway 😁

Reviving this old thread, so it’s obvious they don’t have piezos, but would the gen16 direct pickups hooked directly to a mixer let them act like a built in mic?

    Very informative channel, props!
One idea towards picture quality, IF you care at all:
Should your cam allow, you could lock the white balance for each scene at the beginning of filming (i.e. right after the camera has automatically adjusted it - you seem to be using this setting on "auto").
Especially when metal objects are moving (cymbals), your cam seems to keep adjusting it, which results in the colours changing constantly.
Either way, no biggie, just something I noticed :)

Hi Benno :) You are watching an older video, all my current videos are set to a custom white balance set to a gray card photo from the room. I'm not a pro camera guy, so you'll see a slow progression in quality as you get to the more current video (excluding live streams which have to be done from my phone)

What about the USB output on the DCP, does that send a midi signal?

hay Justin wanna say i love the channel it has been real informative , i currently own an Alesis Nitro and was thinking of getting an Alesis DM10 MKii pro, it's in a good price range for me and i really like the number of pads and sizes that come with, but there arn't a lot of vids for this kit, so i ask this do you think it's a good kit, do the pads hold up or do they fall apart like the strike pro i'm not in a band this is just for me to mess around with, what do you think

Do you need the gen DSP module? Can you bypass the module and connect the Gen direct pickups directly into an interface input and then into a recording DAW where you could replace the cymbals using better sounding samples, with something like Steven slates Trigger?

    • @65Drums
      @65Drums  5 лет назад

That might work, would be alot of effort though, a triggered low volume cymbal from Jobeky, Pintech, or Dimond drums would probably be easier.

I have a question. I have an Ion Drum Rocker designed for Rock Band. I know this drum set is compatable with some alesis drum modules, but I want to know if it's worth it to try and convert it, since I'd need the module, a better kick drum tower, a hi hat controller, and another cymbal, or if it is better to get a better cheap kit like the alesis nitro nesh.

But couldn't you use the audio output from the gen16 module into an audio interface to go to your PCs DAW to trigger a sample in a VST.
So for an example take the audio signal for the ride out of the gen 16 to an audio interface to your PCs DAW. Replicate this signal on 3 separate tracks and set gates and EQ cutoffs to isolate your bell, bow, and edge sounds. The audio on the track might sound like crap but that's not the point. It is isolating a sound signal which will be used to trigger samples but isolating the single for those three 'triggers' on the three tracks.
The layer adsr envelops on each track to control the signal shape.
Use those tracks to trigger the vst.
    How am I wrong?

Hey Justin, any chance you could shout out Erik Hamm and Edrumcenter. I recently bought a rd50dp from him as an upgrade to my td30 kit. He sold me that for 2799$ compared to 3250$ at almost any other distributor. He also gave me 950$ for my old td30 as a trade in which I thought was pretty good. I know I could have sold it myself for more but it was nice to be able to do this as one turnkey transaction as opposed to listing it and selling it myself. Overall I had a very positive experience. I already made a shout out video but my channel is significantly smaller. If he got some sort of shout out from you it would reach a lot more people. Thanks again for all you do and I hope you have a great week...

so technically it doesn't matter what kind of a brain module you have as long as you have one to go midi into a laptop because then you can run it through programs with sounds on there right ??? what is your opinion on this topic sir???

Gen 16 into a drum module. They do not work at all!! Been there done that!! Had them on my td-20 kit and i picked up the whole set new in box for 124$ and even at that price it was money not well spent!!

Oh yeah some of them get mad pretty easily. But most of them are pretty nice. Just defensive of the gear they spent their savings on.
