PSA: use a dremel to take the “hooks” off the front fender plastic. When branches or vines run across the fender one will eventually hook into that groove and delete your fender for you. Ask me how I know.
I was torn between the Talon and the YXZ a year ago. I drove my buddy's Talon all around river ranch then I rent a YXZ at Iron mountain park. For the riding I did(a lot of mud), it was a no brainer for the Talon. The YXZ was still a blast, felt like it lacked a lot of torque anything below 4k rpm was nothing. I liked how snappy the Talon felt, but the radiator placement was ideal on the YXZ too. Then there was debate on getting internal gear reduction or portals to help the YXZ in mud, but when I drove the paddle shift model, it kept trying jerking really bad in the mud even with the front locker on(which that front locker is common failure because people rock crawl in these and they are asking a lot out of that thing, where as sand and mud wont kill it). The Talon came with a lot of accessories out of the box whereas the YXZ didn't even come with a roof(completely necessary in Florida). At the end of the day, I bought a live valve talon and happy with it. I got the launch mode just like the YXZ and I feel like it smokes the YXZ off the line.
The biggest misconception with the YXZ is people think of it like a other “sport” sxs’s ie: rzr, x3, talon. The best way to compare them is to think of those 3 as a sxs version of a Renegade, whereas the YXZ is a sxs version of a yxz 450.
2016 Yxz1000r, I'm still running original clutch and gears, all the clutch problems was driver error in my opinion, then those drivers put on recluse clutch (needs adjusted after everyride)....whats the purpose of buying 3 pedal machine, lol. You can dump clutch at 9000k just dont slip it, also I have the heavy flywheel 👍.
You may already know about it, but would like to hear your thoughts. Turner Cycles supposedly makes different gears for the diff, supposed to be lower. They don't advertise it on their website and the only way I found out is I called them just to see if they made any reductions. With the transmission re-gear and potentially lower gears in the diff it might like crawling more.
i know this is irrelevant but, i capped and deleted my primar pump on my oem 300 carburetor, is that good or bad, i heard you could but i haven’t had any feed back on doing so
That's not the engine breather system. That is the air injection system, uses a pulse pump to inject clean air into your exhaust system. You will want to remove that system entirely and use block off plates when you go with an aftermarket exhaust or you will get excessive "popping" when decelerating.
Nope the thing I deleted is not clean air injection that is a separate system. In any case clean air injection is injected on the exhaust side not into the intake manifold...
The block off plates are used for the secondary air injection system however that serves a different purpose than the charcoal canister system I just deleted. Secondary air allows clean air from the airbox to enter in the exhaust port to help catalytic efficiency. Basically some air bypasses the combustion chamber. The system I deleted inserts fuel fumes into the intake manifold so that they can be burned in the combustion chamber very different. Those systems are BS and cause problems from time to time but are included for emissions concerns that way this thing can be legal in California
@17:50 you literally point at the air injection system and call it the breather system. The 2 lines that run into the valve cover are where the block off plates go.
I’m sure you have looked into it but Barnett’s, Alba and rekluse clutches are the best. Also look into the tube works clutch oil mod. It helps keep the clutch cool to prevent slippage. I have it on mine with tube works 70/30/15 gear set and it’s still not low enough so I have a crawl box on order.
Figures...I commented on your video comparing those machines. Said the RMax is best overall but rip off as dealers know fckn everyone NEEDS one and they're greedy as FCK. The YXZ for pure sport....only to find out you already searched, found and bought the Yxz lol No machine ever made is the absolute best at everything, where mods are useless. Yxz is incredible as you're dam well aware, and can be built in many different ways and do said type excellent 👍. I'd love to build a super duty East Coast trail crawler.super low gearing, lower rpm tune(cam if needed) more low end grunt, Bullet proof clutch, diffs/axles, 18" ground clearance, 32" 8ply tires on 15" 14" if possible. Good roof, front/rear windshield, soft "cab" doors and figure out storage for tools an parts aswell as food and water...but I have a family so that's a fckn pipe dream lol Rmax4 it is for me. Currently the money dealers are demanding for these are unacceptable man straight up. 22-24 for a loaded model is cool with me not fckn 26-30 bcuz "well someone else will pay it sir" then find out they sold it for over 30!!!! If I wanted to be btt FCKD I'd dress up like a woman and start fumbling around in a bar Good video, and excellent choice. Very interested how you build it, sounds like ya love the high speed rush yet also have a NEED for slow technical and calculated crawl too
I'm about to get rid of it the gearing is just terrible even with the lowest gears I can put in the transmission it's not going to be nearly as low as a stock Honda talon
@@MudPuppyOffroad ya that fckn blows Man. I was hoping to hear the latest model is geared down atleast alittle more, I mean wtf man they haven't learned their lesson yet? Don't understand why they haven't released any model with a low range or maybe a trail crawler specific model. You have no will to re-gear it? Or you've checked into it but just not worth it? Far as I'm aware it is possible to re-gear down into a sweet crawler, but at the expense of top end obviously Well no one knows what you need/want need more than you 👍 atleast you got to rip it up with it. Your honest opinion if Yamaha FINALLY releases a version/model with a LOW RANGE, would it be the ultimate trail machine

That 'breather' system is secondary air induction. It just feeds air to the exhaust ports. All motorcycle engines have that.
Yeah to help the cat... I'll def be deleting all that trash lol
A very cool machine! Congratulations on your purchase!
I have a 2018 yxz, i agree completly with everything you say here. Yes the front radiator I have clogs with mud easily.
nice thought you were gona crash on the first jump you did
Hit it way too fast... The yxz just wants to go faster and kill me
I thought the same

At some point, would you consider the recluse clutch kit? Awesome videos, by the way!
Been a honda guy all my life, sold my p1k5 and thinking hard about getting that new Rmax1000 it seems like a beast
It's pretty good but its over priced imo and it only had 2.0 shocks. And it's very top heavy

Yes it might like crawling more but you're going to be turning a lot of RPMs in 5th gear on trails
I'm overall not a fan of that company based on my experience with their axles
You should get a grizz for mudding. Would like to get your opinion on one of those
Very excited to rip around Holopaw!!
Now that you have one what would be your opinion would you prefer manual or SS pedals shifter ?
Neither I would buy a Honda Talon but definitely the manual if I had to get another one
Need to get the gytr turbo kit on it ..it’s another beast , I have a 2020 with the turbo love it
i know this is irrelevant but, i capped and deleted my primar pump on my oem 300 carburetor, is that good or bad, i heard you could but i haven’t had any feed back on doing so
How's your clutch holding up?

@@MudPuppyOffroad i don't know why you are explaining this to me? You are the one that is mistaken.
"I haven't had it over 9000 rpm 'cause it's in break in" LOL
Did you sell the talon
I wanna see you take it to sandlot and send it.
You do drive with one hand tho cause ur constantly shifting
May I ask where u got it from

Too late I bought this but a 24 ss for my first sxs
Since you love JDM machines so much, it’s only fair that you do a Japanese accent in one of your reviews. Obviously, it’d be sick.

Stay away from a tranny re gear and go with the crawl box. It is an aftermarket low range box.
