This is exactly what I grapple with. I moved from Boca Raton to The Philippines in 2016, at age 54. Boca is a beautiful, tightly zoned community. I loved cycling along A1a from Palm Beach to Ft Lauderdale. I enjoyed having a condo on the intracoastal with boat docks, and I enjoyed Fresh Market and Whole Foods and the many excellent restaurants. But for a single 54 year old male the dating scene was just non-existent. That problem was more than resolved by my move to SE Asia. But this side of the planet has its urn issues. Air pollution, way too much traffic to cycle in the city, but not enough amenities living outside the cities here. There's no such thing as suburbs, with clean air abs nature but also city amenities. It's either crowded city living with amenities or province [country] living with no amenities and primitive conditions.
And so I contemplate a return to Florida, to have access to clean air, relatively safe open roads, beautiful clean beaches, and a wide selection of western foods. I'm 61 now, and I have no intention of dating my age, so I'll have to strike a balance between spending some time each year in the US, getting fit and exploring the clean environment of our country, and some time here in SE Asia enjoying the more traditional culture and the excellent dating scene.
