Going off the thumbnail alone -
I remember when we used to find a cool item, run home, and would make a video on it. Those were the days.
I'm slowly but surely moving on, I cant keep up with it all. :'( I've officially fallen out of love with the "creative" process.
We were SO lucky to have a Hobby as a job, but now the hobby is almost lost. Drawing was always my escape, No i do anything to escape drawing.
I definitely KNOW at this point, which videos you make are videos YOU want to make. Its hard to be here now, passion vs priority

It's a little sad to hear how TTTRP works out in the grand scheme of things because it means so much to my friends and I, but of course it makes absolute sense, and is good to see laid out to give us some perspective. It means a lot that it still continues in the way that it can. : )

I smashed the like button, don’t hate me Jazza!
I get it. You do what the algorithm wants so you can support what you like at TTT. You have at least three people working full-time on a channel with little to no ad revenue coming in. It’s a burden to make sure that your main channel video always does well enough to support everything else you do.
And you balance it well. Give yourself, and your team, a big pat on the back.

This is most likely going to be missed and I'm not trying to be rude but I really miss the community aspect of the Draw with Jazza channel. BAFA, Twitch Streams, the old shed studio---those for me were memories that I don't think I'll ever forget and when I was happiest to support the channel.

I describe myself as a "serial hobbyist." I basically cycle through hobbies as they interest me. I want to do them all, all the time, but outside of my job (which was formerly a hobby) I can only do so much. So I'll pick the hobby that pulls me in the most at the moment and just do that for a while. I used to feel guilty about abandoning half-finished projects when something else captures my attention, but I figure if I had fun doing that much of it, then it was worth it, and I can always come back to it later. I also realized that all of my hobbies other than reading are creative, whether it's a painting, some woodworking, coding an app, or planting/maintaining a garden, it's almost always creative in some capacity, so I've sort of changed my perspective and decided that "being creative" is my hobby, and that feels good - it gives me the freedom to be creative in whatever way speaks to me the most in the current moment. Now I just need to figure out how to build a business from them and I"ll be a regular Jazza!

'i like too many things', 'as soon as i've completed something i'm passionate about, i'm alreadt passionate about the next thing', 'there's the things i can't get to that i feel most compelled to spend time on'
i've never related to something more, and it's so incredibly difficult to fit it next to getting a degree (which, surprise, i have difficulty choosing a path in and am passionate about a lot of paths), but seeing you juggle this so well and do what you love... It really motivates me and makes me feel like i'll work things out.
I'm on the cusp of a large change, working on my bachelor thesis, while deciding whether or not i want to go do a masters degree, not knowing what kind of work i exactly want to do, probably taking a break year to figure some stuff out (stem based degree btw, i know, i really can't choose)
All while having a deep passion for lots of art forms, for writing, literature, computer games, (video) content production (sharing passion/information etc. with others is mainly what roots this), as well as desperately wanting to travel but being broke and not having a drivers license, to name some large impactful ones
long story short, thank you, you make me feel like i can get where i want to be and that i will figure it out (idk if this 0:30am comment made sense but thank you)

This makes a ton of sense. I think the hardest part is that people who don't create content (part or full time) haven't had experience with the YT algorithms, ad revenue, and all of the business deals that go on behind the scenes. Don't feel like you need to constantly explain why you are or are not creating certain types of content. Please do what's best for you and your team - the passion you all exude will make it fantastic.

    • @steamer2k319
      @steamer2k319 Год назад +2

Yep. Makes sense. In short, the audience/customers who're familiar with you have certain expectations. And that audience-expectation has a certain momentum. The bigger the audience and the bigger their expectations, the longer it will take to pivot or incorporate additional themes without disappointing the audience's expectations.
On the other side of the equation is family and employees who don't want to depend on a fickle crack-head who can't be relied on because they get distracted by every whim that catches their notice. Living up to responsibilities may seem stifling but it actually creates a foundation for being trusted with bigger opportunities.

I never hear people talk about "liking too many things" and it has made me feel like I'm the only one who can't stand not doing something entirely different all the time. I love to learn new skills and practice them and then I lose interest when I get too good at them and the cycle starts over. It's probably part of my ADHD but it's always been a wild ride of motivation. You inspire me because you seem to be so similar to me but you actually did something with all those skills and ideas and didn't shy away from the challenge. Words do not describe how much I hope I can work on my drive and passion and get past my failures and fears to live up to my potential. One of my dreams is actually to one day work for one of your companies! Here's hoping I'll achieve it one day! :)

Insert Art / Jazza / Tabletop Time and the new game dev work? All interlock and mesh into each other. Its one way to get the "creative insanity" out. We've all had that one project that we have " just had to get done" that's one challenge, the other main challenge is a simple one but very hard at the same time. Its curbing enthusiasm. I'd no more, using myself as an example, be able to contain my enthusiasm about a new yarndoodling project , than I would be able stop a 40ft articulated wagon by holding my hand out and willing the thing to stop. See - The wonderful thing about Jazza, Is Jazza does wonderful things, His top is made out of rubber, His bottom is made out of springs, He's bouncy, trounce, bouncy fun, fun fun, Be the wonderful, wonderful thing about Jazza? Is he's the only one! (My apologies for plagiarising tiggers song)
    Keep being awesome. 🎉

I'm so glad you started insert art. I started watching you when you were still "draw with Jazza" and my favourite content of yours will always be the character design challenges. Though I enjoy all of your whacky experiments that have made the channel more popular I did miss those old-school Jazza videos where you were just passionately designing cool characters based on weird prompts with nothing more than photoshop or markers, but I understand that they don't do as well nowadays with the algorithm and you need to make content that can gain enough revenue to keep your business going. Always appreciate that you've tried time and again to come up with ways to make that kind of content work or just occasionally said "screw it, I'm doing one of those videos" - like the ultimate character design challenge, that was great, but now insert art is there I'm not feeling as much like I'm missing that kind of content and like you say when you do make that kind of video on the main channel now it helps insert art grow so it's not "damaging" (if that's the right word). Really interesting to learn more about how you have to balance things and make careful decisions on content!

I’ve also got so many different things that I want to try and explore and just not enough time to explore them. My full time job is Architecture, I enjoy web development which I do on the side which makes money so I can justify it, but the list of things that I still want to explore and practice is long: woodworking, drawing, painting, pottery, photography, videography and film making, brewing (beer and other drinks), cooking, gardening (particularly edible gardening), 3D modelling/printing. There’s almost certainly more that I’ve forgotten 😅
I’ve even considered RUclips, exploring the different passions, as that would be able to scratch a few of the itches, but TIME! Also I don’t think I could handle RUclips as a source of income, too much pressure. I’ve seen so many creators burn out 😔

Same as learning to play several musical instruments and having your band mates tease you for it... but whatever. And writing stories, and then because you can draw, you illustrate your own works... and don't get me started on card making or any of the other dozen things I do when I'm not at my 9to5. I'm seriously loving the vlogs!!
I'm starting my career as a freelance artist and I have a very .... Tactical approach for things.
Which my peers seem to disapprove of. (I'm in my final stretch of design school). A lot of them are much better artists than me, no question.
Still they are all like "oh~ but I'm just gonna print this thing for some family and friends", "aw, I don't do this for the money".
Honourable? I guess?? But I know that I want to be able to support myself. I know that I want to use my skills as a tool to creat things that will appeal to the people I target.
I don't think there's anything wrong with using your skills to build yourself a living.
And that it comes with the job that, while it is a giant sandbox, you still need to make decisions on which projects to pursue in which way to not hurt yourself.
So I always feel really encouraged by this type of insight into a pro's workings and decision makings.

I think if you ask most people who gets to work with what they love, be it in the creative field, researcher field, social field or any kind of craftsman, you will see a lot of them working extremely hard and being very passionate about their work. Passion for your job comes with pro's and con's, one con i would think is that you dump a lot of passion into the work and that often leaves you with very little time to do hobbies on the side.
In Jazza's case he is working with his hobbies and he has to satisfy an algorithm that is not easily satisfied + he has a ton of passion that he pours into many projects and that just cost time.
I don't think i have seen a singe RUclips'er that dosen't have great passion for what they do, but also have burned out because of the demands the algorithm puts on them, they want to make a video on a special topic, bad luck that won't fair well this year.. Unfortunately i think there is many people who loves their work and don't have or take time to do hobbies on the side, we live in a society where we work so much more, and have less time for family, exercise and hobbies sadly.
