    I urge you to watch this video all the way through (lots of tips here). But if you want to skip around, here are the major sections:
    2:17 - The "Liaison Approach" for introducing Arlo to the dog park explained.
    3:46 - What we did when we first arrived at the dog park to help him get comfortable.
    5:08 - The dogs you'll see at the park with Arlo.
    7:03 - Dog park footage.
    10:31 - My recap of the dog park trip.
    11:47 - How to get "on the inside" with future Doberman-specific techniques.
    13:04 - Bloopers!

      I have a few questions. I have what he'd a lot of your videos and I see you are very familiar with this breed. I'd like your insight on how you discourage dominance or bullying in this breed. I have two old dogs 6 and 3 male and female labs and my dobie pup bullies them. He just started this and he is 4months old. Anything helps.

    I'm sure I am a little biased toward the breed, but at the end when all the dogs were together, Arlo looked so striking in the midst of them. He is such a beautiful dog.

    I did this with Nugget a few months back. He'll be 9 months old on 7/8. He was OK for the most part but when the other dogs took notice of him he tucked his tail, wined and ran. Hid under a bench a couple of women were sitting on in a shelter. I had to leash him and keep him close to me to keep him comfortable. He did the velcro thing mostly, staying close off leash but when he ventured out a little was when the other dogs noticed him more and that's when the tail tuck/chase began.
    Dog parks have been closed for the last several months in this area so we haven't had a change to go back but we are going to have to work on this more. Of course, he's much bigger now so I'll have to be very watchful to make sure he doesn't get aggressive next time. Fear and aggression are linked... He's much bigger and stronger now, capable of much more, tho he's a sweet pup generally. This virus thing is really handicapping our efforts on this front.

    I really liked how you broke that down! I've been subscribed to your channel for a while now and was in the same boat as you were regarding Boxer/Doberman and went with the Boxer option. Sadly our Boxer passed away at 3.5 years due to a serious medical complication. We're now looking at Dobermans and your content is fantastic! But the main reason for commenting is our Boxer had a friend (an older male Boxer) at the dog park and one day this dog kept harassing our Boxer puppy until the older Boxer came over and did the Boxer pound into the side of the aggressor and the dog never bothered our puppy again.

    One thing I love about dogs that have a lot of strength is that they actually know that and you can really see that in their behaviour! I’ve always had dogs and the ones that were physically stronger like my Doberman or my Rottie were sooo gentle with other dogs or kids!

    That's a great method! Something I do to ensure a good dog park experience is to exercise before. The dog park is a mile away from my house so we usually jog there and back. Since my dogs are small they get tired from that jog and after a drink and laying in the grass, they immedietly start doing zoomies around with their buddies. No problems so far.

    My Doberman is about to be 3 months tomorrow and he is getting a little bit calmer. I’m really happy with my Doberman. We do take him on walks sometimes but we don’t let him near other dogs yet because he hasn’t gotten all of his shots. I’m pretty sure next month he will be able to get near other dogs. I love all your videos and they are so helpful too. 😊

    Good job Arlo!!!! Great advise. Three other dogs bit my Doberman early on. So, he did way better with humans than other dogs. He is 2 years old now and does great with other dogs and most importantly other humans. Socialize socialize socialize. People are terrified of Dobermans so it is my mission for people to be around my Moses as often as possible to witness what a wonderful breed the Doberman is today.

      @@DobermanPlanet I'm 33 years old. I've had two Dobermans in my lifetime So far. The first my parents owned as a kid that got me hooked on the breed ever since. My second Doberman was the first I owned. I really don't like to compare but the second Doberman was by far... words can't describe. She was just the best dog I ever had overall. I'm looking forward to getting European Doberman for my third soon. I know it takes a lot of research. But I do have one question. are European Doberman's overall more healthier and longer lifespan then the American Doberman's? I have no real preference. But it's just that both died of heart attacks around 9-11 years of age. They were both American Dobermans.

I always struggled to see the physical difference between US and European Dobes but I now see it. Lol. Riley is however nervous around other dogs and people. He has gain a lot of confidence since I got him but still will not play with other dogs. He will have a sniff then run back to me. Hes getting there slowly. Absolutely no signs of aggression though. Love your page !, First time dog owner first time commenter here , i was highly encouraged to get my Doberman pup because of your content. Watching this video makes me feel you should make another all about social interaction encounter “what ifs”, such as what a dog owner should do if there is an overly aggressive/excited dog at the park , or like if there is a negligent owner there letting their dog do whatever they want, a dog who is trying to mount your dog, or maybe a child who’s being too invasive and the parents aren’t doing anything. How to handle these situations with the dogs , and with the owners. I think owner interaction would be a great topic too. Thanks in advance!

    Getting a 12 week old girl next weekend… I’ve been getting most tips from your channel, so informative in so many aspects! I’m irrationally intimidated by dog parks but seeing your positive experience has alleviated that a bit. I want to socialize the puppy as much as I can but I’m thinking maybe it would be best not to rush the first dog park experience and focus on one-on-one experiences to start… whoever may respond to this with their personal opinions, it would be much appreciated!

    I love this! We are picking up our baby March 13th. We have a whole summer of camping and puppy classes planned for our new Dobie! My chihuahua would have been satan to other dogs here 😂 she does well with our in laws dogs because she knows them but strange dogs she’s a pest. We really want to do it right with our new baby.

    Ahhhh Arlo has progressed and leveled up his gaming skills. Idk whether to be proud of Arlo for getting rid of his offender or to be embarrassed that he stopped being targeted before I learned how........teach me Arlo.

      @DobermanPlanet  4 года назад

      Haha. Yeah it was amazing to see Arlo just turn around and challenge the dog back. He raised his lips, snapped at him, charged at him. It was brief and not serious but after that the dog backed off. So sad I didn't get it on video.

    I hope Sophia got an extra treat with her dinner, she really seemed to help Arlo get into the swing of things! He did such a good job, and I know it was because you were nearby to reassure him. I'm glad the shepherd mix learned not to pick on Arlo by the end

    Great video! I have learned a lot. I have a new doberman puppy 12 weeks. I would just like to know when would it be a good age to start taking my new puppy to the dog park?

    My partner and I are getting a Doberman, and I've found your videos amazing! They'll be a great point of reference for her and I. We want to obviously have a really well behaved pup, so would you recommend having recall and sit/stay, as well as general reactivity calmed a bit before going to the park? Our local one is.... a little rough lol

    I wonder what breed is the beautiful tall dog with the pink collar that gets in the picture at 10:11 next to the Boerboel pup and the Boxer, it’s BEAUTIFUL!

    Omg 😱 Honestly im so obsessed with dobermans I think Everyone around me is annoyed by it by now ... 😅 what I wanted to say I love your channel and binge watch everything I can find🤤 also I think it would be really interesting to have a video about how traveling works for you and your Doberman cause as I’m asking people around me who have dogs this is one of the things everyone sees as complicated and I get that but I wanna know what’s your opinion about it and how to handle this topic🌎 sorry didn’t intend to make this comment so long😅 I’m not very good at keeping things short😂😅

      I will but it wont be released on RUclips. For a few reasons I think it'll have to be hosted on my private website when the time comes. It'll be released to the newsletter crew when it's ready. www.dobermanplanet.com/newsletter/

    Great video. Loved to see the husky run back up for Arlo. I had a husky bite my Shepherd 3 times in a matter of minutes. When my Shepherd got fed up, he grabbed the husky and threw her against the fence. Then her owner screamed foul...most of the time owners make it worse than what it has to be.

      @DobermanPlanet  4 года назад +1

      Sorry to hear about the scuffle... but yeah it was pretty amazing what Sofia (the husky) did all on her own. She and Arlo really go to know each other on their play dates a lot before this trip to the dog park and I think that really helped.

    I first took my dog at an empty time. had him on a leash first. both of us learning the terrain together. a couple of days later we went.back on a busy time and he was so eagered to go out to.play
    but first we walked on the outside of the fence to eventually let him free inside . he had a blast. but definitely had that "new kid in the cafeteria" look not knowing who to sit with
