Powerful discussion of the value of open discussion on these issues. Christianity is relevant to all of life, period.

Only if one truly understand the meaning of the literature in the Bible. Almost all who claim to be Christian for the time being are far from Christ like behavior. When Jesus said "The kingdom of heaven is within you", he's talking about achieving a state of being, higher consciousness, enlightenment , a realization, a feeling of oneness and a sense of connection to all in the universe. It has everything to do with unconditional love, and nothing to do at all whats so ever of any kind of fear.

"Almost all who claim to be Christian for the time being are far from Christ like behavior"....? I would like to help you a bit. This is a radically insane claim- no offense. I don't know you at all, but know that there are roughly 1.5 Billion Christians from every country on the planet as we speak. I am sure you have not met, "Almost All" of them.
I totally love you and only challenge you because this is not only very disrespectful, but enormously presumptuous for you to bad mouth almost all Christians like that. I have met literally hundreds and hundreds of Christians over the past two decades who do a fine job of loving like Jesus. They are never perfect, but I know literally thousands of Christians and most of them are pretty delightful to be around. Many of them are amazing people who have been radically changed by God. I am sorry that you have not met many of them. A few bad apples can make a person think what you think and I am so so so sorry you have not met Christ in His followers. That is a terrible shame. But know that I am trying my very best to show Christ to lost people and all people alike.
Your interpretation of Jesus as being a New Age or Hindu-esque teacher is just not defendable. Jesus was bringing the kingdom of God as the Messiah prophesied about in the OT. He was a Jew fulfilling prophecy. This Kingdom began through the Apostles and the church. The Kingdom will then be open again to the Jews when all of the Gentiles come in (Romans 11:25). Jesus was not a guru or a Hindu sage. What religion are you? Do you follow a certain path or faith? I am just curious....?

***** I'm not religious. I do my best to live by the golden rule. The path to the heavenly kingdom is through the heart for those who have the courage to love unselfishly, compassionately and unconditionally. I'm not new age or any of those guru stuff. What I have describe in my comment is from the heart through very profound experiences that prove to me that God is real. I don't mean to disrespect any one but If I did then I do apologize. I just want to share what I have experience and do my best to let other know from what I have experience that the path to feel the presence of God within all of us is through compassion/unconditional love. To me, love is, the essence of God.

Were Hitler, Stalin, MaoTseTung, etc. all great people!? No one can condemn them if there is no absolute Truth outside our feelings. How can you say they were wrong if it is just our opinion. That is where we must go logically if there is no absolute Truth apart from our feelings. Actually, if Evolutionary theory is logically followed out to its conclusion...they were actually great men. Right?

The issue is NOT the discussion in the Public Square, rather it's about Mainstreet.
What role/accommodations (IF ANY) does religious beliefs/adherence play on Mainstreet (commerce). This is where the rubber meets the road.
My view is that it should be accorded, none.
