A lovely trick I picked up (I think it was from Nancy Neiman) was to start sewing from off the fabric, up the line drawn for the beginning of the gap to be left open, then pivot to sew the seam, and finish by sewing off the fabric at the end mark for the other side of the gap. the result is that the fabric will fold inward much easier. To that, I now have added that I press the seam to one side before turning as well.
At the end of the video it cuts off before you close the hole that you used for turning. Do you just fold it under press and then close it up when you do your top stitch?

Yes!!! I've seen that as well and have done it myself...just not often enough to have remembered to do it this time. But it certainly does help!
