I play my playstation 4 until my brand new limited until last of us part 2 controller power off from 100% battery. Essentially a live battery life test of the Dual Shock 4 controller.

im actually really happy with my ds4, the controller felt nice in my hand, the button especially the trigger are top notch, and the battery on my 1 year old ds4 is still going strong having more than 10 hours battery life with 2 to 3 hours charging time, and ofcourse more often than not i still use it even when its charging
You had the newest version of the dualshock controller+ it is new so it is normal. The numbers are still impressive to.
It consume more battery if u plug in headphones

Always set the light on dim and lower the vibration level.
Makes a huge difference and in my experience the battery lasts always about 10-12 hours, depending how old the controller is.

You also have to consider that maybe they changed the processor they can keep the same mah but and just have the processors updated but idk if that’s the case
I usually got 10-12 hours of battery life playing a Scarlet Nexus (the controller usually vibrate a lot when playing, the only it stops vibrating during scenes).

And also consider did you have the Brightness of the back in dim and if you have vibrations of maybe 1 more hour possibly maybe 2 I thought the battery life was actually 9 hours but 12 damn those extra 3 hours are a session by it self
I know this video is been 3 years old but I just wanna share my experience. I sold my ps4 and got a spare of ds4 controller. I decided to put it on a good use and use it for emulation controller for my PC and to my surprise I got mine for more than 14 hours and still going until I decided to charge it before it ran out of juice. Probably because an emulation such as PS1 games does not have rumble feature on it. I bet it can last more than 16 hours for ps1 emulation controller.
Next video: battery life on a used dualshock 4 while I eat bananas, biscuits, drink milk and have a beer, without going number 1. I dare you :D

Makes a big difference between bright and dim light.
But i quess it was on dim because it lasted 12 hours :D
Just found this video after doing some looking around about my own controller battery life. The "standard" setting is Bright which is the brightest choice, if his lasted 12 hours on the brightest choice he would've been in trouble with it set to Dim lol. My controller that came with my PS4 at launch didn't even last 3 years before the thumbstick covering had completely come off and the triggers/buttons needed new silicone. I've been really impressed with the CUH-ZCT2, I got one shortly after they released in 2016 so I could have something functional while I repaired my og ds4. I repaired/modded the og controller to the point that I don't really enjoy using it anymore.. so it's been over 4 years on the second gen controller and everything still works perfectly and still gets great battery life. I won't be surprised if something similar happens with the dualsense controllers. The ones that don't get stick drift and aren't abused by rage-kids will last ~3 years and need a rebuild but by then they will be putting out PS5 slims w/2nd gen dualsense and that will be the controller to last.
My DualShock 4 on bright lasted me 6-9 hours fresh out of PS4 package I own the PS4 Slim

after watching ur video, i tried that with my 3 yr old controller playing GT7 custom endurance race at 10 hrs. my ds4 lasted only 6.5 hours with
dim brightness and vibration turned on.
yours lasted twice as mine. maybe because it is 3 yr old and I use it 4 hrs minimum everyday.
